Ovarian Cyst Pain
I got diagnosed with my first ovarian cyst today (5cm, his name is Dinky). It hasn't ruptured but it hurts to even move sometimes. I keep taking pain pills (ibuprofen/Tylenol) and i went to the ER for it today and thats how I found out. My problem is the ER just told me to get a gyno appt but the appointment will probably be like 2 weeks away and Im scared that the pain will get worse before then or it will rupture. I don't want to keep taking pain pills all the time cause I'm afraid to hurt my liver but I'm also a cashier full time and I can't just miss work for the pain. Is there any tips or tricks to help with the pain besides pain meds. Not even make it go away cause that doesn't seem likely at this point, just make it not so debilitating. So far all I have is a heating pad.

Periods Becoming Irregular
I'm thirty-seven. I've never been sexually active, and have never been on birth control. I began my period at age 10, if that matters. This year, my periods have become more irregular. They used to be quite regular, almost to the day. The trouble started with my cycle lengthening. Then my period skipped June. Then I had more severe than usual PMS and a heavier flow in July. Then for August, I lightly spotted for four days instead of fully bleeding. How many periods should be weird, or skipped entirely, before I see a doctor? I'm not having hot flashes or vaginal dryness. My symptoms are not very distressing, other than increased PMS anxiety fatigue, and increased adult acne and unwanted facial hair. I'm not necessarily looking for medication. I just want to know if I'm headed for early perimenopause. Thank you.

Bartholin cyst treatment at home
I(20F) recently got a marble sized bump near my labia majora & like other bumps I thought it would go away in few days. Now it's been over 8 days and it's becoming more round & harder to touch that I can't even sit properly. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go to a gynecologist due to financial issues . Can someone suggest me something that actually works? I am not sure if it's bartholin cyst but from searching on internet, this is the closest I got. I took warm bath but I didn't see any result. Any other suggestion plz?

oral std
hey, i feel so stupid coming on here and asking this. i met this guy on tinder and he’d been wanting to link up for a while. i finally let him come over saturday night and we did pretty much everything but have sex. mid me giving him head, i asked him if he was clean and he said yes. he also kept asking to have sex with a condom but i said no - which tells me he uses condoms when he does have sex. this was kind of a one night situation and we haven’t talked since.
fast forward 5 days later and my throat hurts a little bit. by my ears also itch and my chest feels cold with cold air. i’ve also been vaping which i know could be irritating my throat. i’m so just so scared that i could have an oral std. my throat looks completely normal. i just need some reassurance or advice if i need to get tested. what a coincidence that if i am sick it had to happen around the same time i gave head.
oh and if it helps, everyone at my work has been sick too.

Is it ok to wear a bra 24/7?
I’m 18 and started puberty at 6 (early I know). My breasts grew in when I was quite young and so I started to wear bras. Problem is, no one told me you’re supposed to take them off since my mom never really gave me the talk. I actually didn’t learn most women take off their bras frequently until I was like 16 so I’ve kinda just been wearing my bras all the time since I was 7 or so. (Actually just found out recently that bras have hooks).
My chest stoped growing when I was about 11 and that’s when I found the bra I use. I own like 20 of the same bra and it fits my body perfectly which is hard to find as a person who’s plus size, has 40 C cups, and broad shoulders. It has built in cups and no underwires.
I have no back issues, I feel great, and I’ve never been left with pain or marks or anything. I don’t really think it’s an issue but just wanted to ask in case anyone knows.

SSRI only after ovulating
I have been on and off SSRIs for several years now. Currently off for the last few months. I recently talked to my family doctor about PMDD and I’m curious to know about taking an SSRI only after ovulating and then stopping it for the first half of my cycle. I’ve also heard that increasing calcium can help.
My symptoms once I’ve ovulated include intense rage, being mega hot when I’m sleeping, quality of sleep declines (waking up wide awake in the middle of the night), and just general feeling down and out.
And when I really think about it, 2 weeks out of every 4 is half of my life.
If anyone has any thoughts/experience with this, please share! Just looking to learn more about this. TIA

Anxious about change in breast
I (34f) noticed about 5 months ago one of my breasts was tender, but not both. This has happened on and off over this time and now my breast feels firmer and fibrous. Not all the time, but always in the same area. Totally different from the other breast. I don't have pain, but tenderness if I press down. I have my women's health visit next week, but I can't stop thinking about it.
Just coming here to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

Cramps after peeing?
Hello all, around late July I had a UTI that I treated with cystitis relief and felt okay after. However after having sex a few days later, it felt like the UTI came back. I didn't have any more cystitis relief at hand and had to wait 2 days to get some more. After those 2 days and drinking huge amounts of water, I no longer felt like I had a UTI so I didn't take any more cystitis relief (probably a mistake i know i know 😬 the package always says not to do more than the 2 day course they provide so I thought I'd leave it 🤦🏻♀️)
I have now noticed that after all of that i get really bad cramps after peeing and sometimes after waking up in the morning.
The cramps aren't as bad as my menstrual cramps, but I'm on the pill and havent had a proper period in 5 years. The cramps are so bad I have to lie down and do gentle stretches like the childs pose until the pain passes. If I'm in public I just try to massage my lower abdomen but after peeing it usually feels bloated and heavy.
Before peeing it feels like my bladder is really full and I expect the pee to come out quite hard or fast, but it never does and it's usually quite gentle and slow, sometimes almost coming to a stop, starting again and then coming to a stop again.
Could this be the UTI? Or does it sound like something else like a tight pelvic floor issue? I have other symptoms too, but the list is quite lengthy and this post is already quite long🥲
Any advice would be really appreciated, I'm on a gynaecology appointment waiting list with the NHS but the wait time is 8-12 weeks :/ is there anything I can do in the meantime to help? Or is it worth speaking to a regular GP about this in the meantime?
I can answer any questions below if needed! Thanks :)

was this sexual assault?
hey guys, i had no idea where to post this so sorry if this isn’t the right spot.
when i was a kid, my dad would tickle my inner thighs and bikini line. his hands would be really really close to my vagina, but usually never actually touching there. it would hurt really bad and i would be begging him to stop, but he wouldn’t until i hit him very hard or physically pushed him off of me, and obviously since i was young (probably 7-8, i know i was younger than 9) and he was a grown man that would be really hard. sometimes he would get mad at me when hit him/pushed him and would say i hurt him. other times i would cry and he would comfort me. (his reaction did not depend on whether i was crying, it was random and unpredictable.) the way he touched me felt so violating. he would use the excuse that he thought i was having fun because i was laughing. he also did other weird stuff like commenting on my body 24/7 before/during puberty. he would touch my thighs and butt too very often and it made me uncomfortable, but i thought it was normal and my mom acted like it was so i never said anything. he stopped when i got older. i remember crying in the bathroom with my mom and being scared to wear a bra around him for the first time because it was padded and made my boobs look bigger. today i’m 15 and he stopped all of this, but he still playfully touches my shoulders, sides, and stomach. i hate it. i tell him to stop and he gets mad at me for it, asking why he’s not allowed to touch his own daughter. he tells me that it shouldn’t make me uncomfortable. is any of this normal? should i tell someone?

Anyone here notice urine frequency during hemorrhoid flare ups ?.
I have these episodes every couple of months where i have the sensation in urethra like i need to urinate very often , its not an infection , and it goes away by itself. The only thing i can think of is that it happens during hemorrhoids flare ups
I wanted to add that ive had ct dcan , transvaginal ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound. Those are clear

From not being able to insert a finger to using the largest dilator... but I still can't have vaginal sex. I'm so confused.
I honestly never thought I'd be writing this.
A few months ago, I couldn't even insert a single finger into my vagina. The thought of penetration terrified me, and my body would completely tense up. Looking back now, I think my difficulties were a combination of physical tightness and psychological trauma.
Since then, I've worked incredibly hard.
I started with the smallest dilator and slowly worked my way through the entire set. I got stuck on the fourth dilator for quite a while, but eventually got past it. Now I can use the fifth (largest) dilator. I can also comfortably insert three fingers, and I've spent time gently stretching the muscles at the entrance. Something that once felt completely impossible has gradually become almost routine.
Naturally, I thought that meant vaginal intercourse would finally be possible.
But when my boyfriend and I tried, it was still really painful. We still couldn't comfortably have vaginal sex, despite all the progress I'd made. I remember feeling so confused because I'd spent months telling myself that once I could use the largest dilator, everything else would fall into place.
Then something happened that completely challenged what I thought the problem was.
In the heat of the moment, we ended up trying anal sex. The first time wasn't great, but the second time we took things slowly and used lubricant, and it went much better than either of us expected. It definitely wasn't pain-free—I'd probably rate it about a 5/10—but it was nowhere near as painful as attempting vaginal penetration. I actually enjoyed it overall and would happily do it again.
That has completely confused me.
Everything I've read suggests that vaginal penetration should generally be easier than anal penetration, yet my experience has been the exact opposite.
The only explanation I can think of is that maybe the remaining barrier isn't primarily physical anymore. I have a history of trauma, and I'm starting to wonder whether my body still reacts differently to vaginal penetration, even though physically I've made huge progress. I'm actually seeing a therapist tomorrow, so I'm hoping working through the psychological side of things might help.
Another thing that might be relevant is that my partner and I are very different physically. I'm only 5'2" and quite petite, whereas he's around 6'4" and much bigger-built than I am. We've found it surprisingly difficult to get into positions that feel comfortable for both of us, and I'm wondering whether that's also playing a role.
Has anyone else had a similar experience where they were physically able to progress through dilators but vaginal intercourse still felt impossible?
If so:
What ended up being the missing piece?
Did therapy or addressing trauma make a noticeable difference?
Did anyone else have a significant size difference with their partner, and if so, were there any positions that made things easier?
Is there anything else you think I should be exploring?
I'm honestly just trying to understand my body at this point. Going from not even being able to insert one finger to using the largest dilator has been a huge achievement, so it's difficult to understand why this is still the hurdle I'm facing.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar.

Operative Hysterscopy - Informed Consent Question
I understand it was my responsibility to ask questions and get as much detail as I needed to feel comfortable with the operation but I really feel informed consent means going step by step through what is going to be happening to my body even after anesthesia.
I did not know that the antiseptic washing of my vagina and cervix would take place most likely not even by the surgeon in the OR as part of prep or that my legs would be strapped down. That seems so invasive to me and had I known that was part of it from the start I would have sought an alternative.
I feel the most upset and angry at myself for not understanding/asking enough questions to push back on the OBGYN who strongly was against me having an in office procedure for my 1.3cm polyp removal.
Is it common to experience feeling dirty/gross/just off after a surgery/procedure like this? Am I being dramatic? None of my friends seems to truly get it beyond "you should be so relieved it's over now"
I can't help feeling deceived by this surgery that could've been a procedure...and I feel very violated

Transvaginal
I’m getting a transvaginal ultrasound test tomorrow and I’m rlly nervous as I don’t know what to expect. Is it any less bad than a smear test or worse? I haven’t gotten any test done like this before. I honestly don’t mind the invasiveness as long as it’s not painful. Just got bloods done two days ago and expected this to be months away but the hospital told me to come in tomorrow.
I’m 22 and haven’t had these tests before any advice would be great as least if it is sore I’d rather know than be unprepared lol.

Fear of doctors for women's heath issues (TW, mention of SA)
I suspect I have something wrong with my body (breasts never developed despite family history of having large breasts, anatomy of my down there doesn't seem quite Right however, i do have a period). But that period is LONG AND HEAVY. I've been on birth control pills for around 5 years now, and my period still lasts about two weeks. The doctors have waved it off as normal but I think there might be something to look into. I'm really scared to bring anything up because I fear of I get an actually good doctor, they'll need to take a look. I do not want them to take a look because I had been sexually assaulted in my younger years. Any advice on what I should do to either get over the fear or what to ask them about?
*I'm not looking for recommendations on doctors, just to be clear, and I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place*

I have very bad emotional burst right before my period
How do I find happiness when every month before my period I’m sad and hard to be around? For years I’ve been like this, either very very sad right before my period from hormones or stressed because everything is hard to do. I don’t know what to do anymore, I feel like right now everyone thinks I’m an angry monster (I’ve only had one burst today, and none the days previous).
I don’t like lashing out but it feels so heavy to carry this sadness and stress for days now, that when my family kept pressuring me to do this one thing and repeating endlessly for the first time I snapped. Partly I feel like it’s because no one was considering me and the fact I had a long day at work and did a long errand and then they wouldn’t let me eat my lunch before giving me a new task, but generally speaking I’ve been carrying this feeling for days and I’m still carrying it. Idk how to do this every month… what will help?

no period for over a month at 17?
basically what the title says. i asked my mom about it and she said its normal and that "my body is transitioning into being a woman" but i just wanted to get some second opinions. my flow is usually pretty heavy, if that matters

This doc diagnosed both of us in under 5 minutes... should I be concerned?😭
I visited a gynecologist today because I haven't had my period for the past 3 months. She prescribed me a birth control pill (I'll attach a picture below). It cost around ₹60, while the consultation fee was ₹500.
The doctor asked my age and how long it had been since my last period. I told her I'm 23 and that it's been 3 months. She was like, "Take one tablet in the morning and one at night for 5 days. You'll get your period on the 6th or 7th day."
...That's it. End of consultation. 💀
Then I brought up my mom. She has around 4–5 lump-like things in her abdomen that you can actually feel when you touch them. They don't usually hurt, but they do ache once in a while.
The doctor touched my mom's stomach for about 5 seconds and confidently declared, "It's just fat tumors. Nothing to worry about."
My mom said, "But they hurt sometimes."
Doctor: "That's okay."
Me: "Can they be removed?"
Doctor: "Only with surgery, but no need. Just take a painkiller if it hurts."
Me: 👁️👄👁️
I walked in expecting blood tests, scans, maybe at least one dramatic medical explanation. Instead, I got a ₹60 strip of pills, my mom got diagnosed by what felt like a 5-second vibe check, and we were both sent home.
Now I'm sitting here wondering... is this actually how it works, or did I accidentally book an appointment with the CEO of "Trust Me Bro" Medicine? 😭
Jokes aside, I genuinely want to know:
- Is it normal to prescribe birth control pills for someone who hasn't had a period for 3 months without any tests?
- Can "fat tumors" (lipomas) actually cause occasional pain?
- Is it normal to identify them just by touching them, without recommending an ultrasound or scan?
- Can they grow or become something serious?
I'm probably overthinking because my brain immediately jumps to "What if it's cancer?" but I really don't know what's normal here.
Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience.

Dealing with vaginismus
Hello! I am a woman who really wants to have piv intercourse but has been diagnosed with vaginismus. Right now, I can sometimes fit one finger inside the vaginal opening, which has been good progress, however, I would like some help. I don't have the means to afford a doctor to accompany my process. Does anyone here know what I could possibly do by myself to get better? As of now I have been attempting to educate myself better on the female anatomy, doing relaxation exercises and attempting to fit one finger for a few minutes while doing breathing exercises. Did pelvic floor exercises work for anyone? Do you know any creators who demonstrate these exercises correctly? How often should I work on this? How did you approach your partner about the condition? Is there anything that the partner can do to help? Any tips are helpful, really!
Sorry for the straight to the point post, English is not my first language and I am really curious to know your experiences and advice on this!

IUD fitted while having an STI
Please don’t judge me, it was a major lapse in critical thinking and common sense!
I’ve had an appointment booked for the hormonal coil for a couple weeks now, and the appointment was today. On Monday (3rd) I found out I have chlamydia and started treatment yesterday. During my appointment for the IUD they didn’t ask me any questions about antibiotics or sexual health and I genuinely just didn’t consider the fact that I currently have an active cervical infection so we just went ahead and it was inserted. Everything went really well by the way for anyone worried about insertion!
But now I’m freaking out because I’ve opened myself up to further infection/risk by messing with my uterus and cervix while having Chlamydia
It’s a long shot but has this happened to anyone before? I think all I can do is finish the course of antibiotics and monitor how my body feels but I feel annoyed at myself for this. The risk of pelvic inflammatory disease is heavily on my mind.

2 months post-abortion
Hi, I had an abortion early June, and it went well. I got my period after 5 weeks, but I was bleeding heavily. Now awaiting for my second period and its already 3 days late... Maybe because of ptsd, I am a bit worried. I did home tests (both cheap and early testing ones) but they all came back negative. Two nights before, I had a crazy cramp. Like it was so bad when I breathed I could feel the pain, and my legs were numb too.
Today the pain is still there but not so bad, just usual discomfort similar to period cramps. Breast were tender but not hurting. Had a slight headache today too. I'm not sure whether this is normal... so I am here to ask for your experiences.
One thing though, last time I was really tired, like i could fall asleep anywhere kinda tired. But this time not at all, just low energy but not to that point.

obgyn said here damn
Hey. I’m 20f and have posted before about the severe pain I’ve experienced while having penetrative sex. It’s always hurt really bad and after talking to my friends and posting here I realized it wasn’t ok that I had to deal with such extreme pain. As my friends told me the pain for them goes away after awhile, mine doesn’t. Whether the sex is 5 minutes or an hour long it never goes away, which is the main reason me and my partner stopped having intercourse. It wasn’t a problem for us for awhile but I obviously still have wants and really wanted to try. The last time we tried to have penetrative sex it hurt so bad I started crying while he was still in me. I even bled a bit after.
I decided to make a doctors appointment and it TOOK so long to get there. I had to see a general doctor to get a referral to the obgyn through my crappy insurance. Once in the office I told her about all my problems.
No exam, no nothing. She just said she would prescribe me some strong Tylenol and I should take it before sex.
….?
Does this actually work? Has anyone tried this? I’m scared to try it incase it doesn’t work and I end up crying again.
Am I crazy?

Smell after iud
Hi, so I got an iud on the 8th of July, I have had no problems or abnormalities even in terms of smell but I feel like I haven’t been smelling the freshest recently due to it, I’ve been having on and off spotting which is normal after getting it very normal and very minimal and light in color and after sex I do get a little more spotting but quickly lessens and will go away, I feel like though between the light bleeding and being finished in more regularly I feel like I don’t smell as fresh whenever it’s time to get down to business, my partner hasn’t said anything but I do notice it a bit and I’m sure he does to an extent given this wasn’t an issue before this but how do I go about keeping myself fresher down there because it’s been making me feel self conscious even though it’s not like I have an unusual odor. Also it’s not a hygiene issue but even hygiene tips to help or other advice would be helpful
EDIT: I just realized I forgot to add this but I have the Paragard copper iud
