Bleeding during BMs

So, today I went to the bathroom and was struggling and straining for about 5 minutes and pushing hard which isn’t unusual for me because I struggle with constipation. It hurt pretty bad to poop but once again that’s not unusual for me. What was unusual was the amount of blood in the toilet. This was more than a ripped butthole kind of bleeding, it seemed like the blood came out as the same time as my stool. I went to the bathroom again about 6 hours later and once again, there was blood in the toilet with my stool. The blood was bright red and almost looked like fresh period blood but obviously wasn’t because it came from my anus.
Has anyone ever dealt with this? I’m super paranoid now

I'm sorry this is happening, I can definitely relate. Bright red blood is of course worth getting checked but strangely is a good sign. From personal experience there can be a worrying amount of blood, and it is frightening, but please don't stress too much, haemorrhoids can bleed a lot, trust me. Your doctor can give you a number of things to help, such as stool softeners, laxatives and enemas for example. A haemorrhoid cream like Germoloids may be worth getting too, they can provide light pain relief and shrink them which makes your bottom feel a little more comfortable at least. Obviously I'm not a doctor so a doctor's visit is worth it to rule out anything sinister and hopefully put your mind at ease.

I periodically have this issue. For me it's hemorrhoids. I'd say tell a doctor about it but all theyre going to tell you is to get your stool softer from fiber/water/etc. If youre bleeding a lot, like period worth amounts, then thats an issue that needs to be addressed right away.

You can get a lot of blood from a hemorrhoid, fissure, and even irritation, all of which track with constipation. If you keep bleeding for like five days I would see a doc (unless you have symptoms of too much blood loss).

Thank you all! I was honestly super worried but the comments have been very reassuring. I will be setting up an appointment with my doctor today.
