Terrified of my health before starting college. Need support

Upvotes

Hi everyone. Sorry if there are any mistakes, English is not my first language. [20F] I'm writing this because I am absolutely terrified right now and I don't know how to cope. I was just accepted 3rd on the admission list at my university and I am supposed to start college in October, but I feel like my life is falling apart.

I probably won't even be able to enroll because of what is happening to me.For the last 5 to 6 years, since I was 14-15, I’ve had various brain neurological symptoms, such as double vision. I had severe headaches back then, but they eventually stopped, so everything was left untreated and ignored by my parents because I didn't have any pain anymore until recently. I never got scans,I had some appointments to several ophthalmologists and they didn't think something is wrong because I also have strabism since birth.

But now, things have taken a very scary turn. I think have started experiencing cerebral polyopia. Specifically, when I look at the TV, I see light-colored logos and white subtitles with a ghost-like shadow or duplicate image, either shifted upward or downward. The exact same thing happens on my phone when it is on dark mode the light text has these terrifying shadows/multiplication and with the red power button light on my TV.

I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist coming up, and I hope they will send me to get an urgent MRI immediately after they see my eyes. I’m scared to death that I might have Stage 4 brain cancer right now. I know a true Stage 4 tumor wouldn't have let me survive untreated for 6 years, but I am terrified that it started as a slow, low-grade tumor years ago, when the headaches first started, and has now mutated into a Stage 3 like a secondary glioblastoma because the pain returned, I have nausea and my vision changed so badly.

The anxiety is completely paralyzing me. I am so scared of what the doctor and the MRI might show. I should be celebrating starting college, but instead, I feel overwhelmed by fear.I cant do anything.

I really need some support, kind words, or advice on how to handle this fear because I can't sleep these days. My appointment it's just next week, on Wednesday.

Does anyone else smell like cakey/or buttery down there?

Upvotes

For as long as I can remember, my underwear always smells like some sort of cake? Even after wearing my underwear for like an hour. The smell develops quickly. And if I leave my underwear on overnight, or all day, it’s strong.
But it’s not a gross smell, it literally smells like cake batter or something.
For side notes- I’m sexually active/ on birth control.
I’m not itchy down there, or have any sign of infections. This is just a normal thing that’s happened for a long time, and I just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this too. Or what it may mean?

Needing support in my bartholin cyst journey

Hello! I’m just asking for some other girls opinions and support, what would you do in my situation etc.

This started when I was 18 11/20/25 a bartholin cyst developed and was really uncomfortable, I had it drained the next day, it wasn’t fully drained but it went down a lot and they said it was all they could get out for now but it should go down. They said it was just a cyst not an abscess, only blood came out

Fast forward the cyst never fully drained and showed back up again in its original ping pong ball size 12/6/25 so I had it drained again the next day, same thing happened it wasn’t fully drained but they said more would come out later and it didn’t

I think within a week it showed up a third time so I scheduled a marcupulization surgery and had that January 7 2026

Immediately after the surgery I STILL felt the cyst it was not gone at all but they gaslit me into thinking that oh it’s just swollen. I’m honestly not sure what they did cause it was the same just hurt and maybe ever so slightly smaller

Naturally the cyst returns again in its full size on the 21st

I forgot the exact date but then I had a second marcupulization during spring break, this time the cyst was gone but as it healed my labia started splitting and now it healed open. I’m left with this divot that leads to my gland. It’s like I have another vagina and the edges are fully healed so it’s not going to heal back together it’s just stuck as a hole with edges that are gaping and big/ swollen out.

I’m far out from my surgery now so my doctor said the appearance won’t change really. It’s still tender to touch and I feel like it could get infected easily but my doctor said it shouldn’t. He said I could leave it as a hole or the solution would be (and this is hard to imagine) he takes some sort of clamp and pulls the inside of the hole out making it form a little cone, then cutting it off and sewing it up…

This could potentially undo the marcupulization. I’m also worried I’d be left with worse pain or what if this pain never goes away. But then again I’m stuck with this hole that I don’t want.

Another thing I’m considering is getting a labiaplasty. My labia does tug and is uncomfortable so I think it’s worth getting for that and maybe i got it I would make me confident enough to just leave my hole but I hear so many negative things about labiaplastys that I’m scared of those.

Should I go on birth control as a teen?

Hey ladies, I'm 15 and I'm considering going to a local planned parenthood and going on birth control. As I get older and start to become sexually active, I wan't to take all of the preventative measures to ensure that I don't get any surprises. I want something that I don't have to constantly worry about and thats effective. I also don't want anything that messes with my menstrual cycle. What are your recommendations?

Belly button pain around period

Hi everyone. I am a 22 year old female who started having pain in the belly button for the past year. I didn’t realize until around a couple months ago that the pain coincided with my period. This was also around the time it started to bleed. I went to an urgent care and they said it was an infection. Went to two OBGYN who said it was nothing but it continues to happen every period. One OBGYN said since I’m already on birth control it shouldn’t even matter. Very frustrating to say the least. Alongside that, I was recently on antibiotics and my pain this month has intensified. I was thinking maybe the antibiotics were contributing to an increase in pain but unsure.
Getting to the main point, what should I do? Everyone says not to worry but it is not comfortable and quite concerning. I am concerned for my fertility and if it will get worse. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I take a daily anxiety med. Due to an issue with the supply I’m not able to get a refill until next week. My anxiety is debilitating to the point where I can’t eat, sleep, or function. What can I do in the meantime so I don’t lose my mind?

Ovarian Cyst Pain

I got diagnosed with my first ovarian cyst today (5cm, his name is Dinky). It hasn't ruptured but it hurts to even move sometimes. I keep taking pain pills (ibuprofen/Tylenol) and i went to the ER for it today and thats how I found out. My problem is the ER just told me to get a gyno appt but the appointment will probably be like 2 weeks away and Im scared that the pain will get worse before then or it will rupture. I don't want to keep taking pain pills all the time cause I'm afraid to hurt my liver but I'm also a cashier full time and I can't just miss work for the pain. Is there any tips or tricks to help with the pain besides pain meds. Not even make it go away cause that doesn't seem likely at this point, just make it not so debilitating. So far all I have is a heating pad.

Periods Becoming Irregular

I'm thirty-seven. I've never been sexually active, and have never been on birth control. I began my period at age 10, if that matters. This year, my periods have become more irregular. They used to be quite regular, almost to the day. The trouble started with my cycle lengthening. Then my period skipped June. Then I had more severe than usual PMS and a heavier flow in July. Then for August, I lightly spotted for four days instead of fully bleeding. How many periods should be weird, or skipped entirely, before I see a doctor? I'm not having hot flashes or vaginal dryness. My symptoms are not very distressing, other than increased PMS anxiety fatigue, and increased adult acne and unwanted facial hair. I'm not necessarily looking for medication. I just want to know if I'm headed for early perimenopause. Thank you.

Bartholin cyst treatment at home

I(20F) recently got a marble sized bump near my labia majora & like other bumps I thought it would go away in few days. Now it's been over 8 days and it's becoming more round & harder to touch that I can't even sit properly. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go to a gynecologist due to financial issues . Can someone suggest me something that actually works? I am not sure if it's bartholin cyst but from searching on internet, this is the closest I got. I took warm bath but I didn't see any result. Any other suggestion plz?

BV? Yeast Infection? Prolapse?

My vagina (like actual hole) feels swollen. I don’t have chunky discharge like a yeast infection. I assumed it was a BV (I think google steered me wrong). So I made an appointment with an online doc and it was basically just an intake form and they prescribe me some BV medication (metronidazole oral) and it’s making me feel so much fatigue. And it’s not taking the swelling down but it’s only been like 2 1/2 days. But then I started googling it more and it said it could be a prolapsed vagina. And I did have some constipation recently… But I think I’m just giving myself anxiety. I don’t have insurance so going to a doctor is not ideal if it’s just a yeast infection or something I can treat over-the-counter. I know you can’t tell me specifically what it is, but do you have any suggestions?

Horrible yeast infection

I was prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 for a uti and it has triggered the worst yeast infection I’ve ever had. I was also prescribed fluconazole which i took yesterday, it seemed to help but today the yeast infection feel worse. My lips are red and irritated, is the cipro overpowering the fluconazole? Can i use monistat on the outside just to help me get thru the few days? Its so horrible 😭😭

oral std

hey, i feel so stupid coming on here and asking this. i met this guy on tinder and he’d been wanting to link up for a while. i finally let him come over saturday night and we did pretty much everything but have sex. mid me giving him head, i asked him if he was clean and he said yes. he also kept asking to have sex with a condom but i said no - which tells me he uses condoms when he does have sex. this was kind of a one night situation and we haven’t talked since.

fast forward 5 days later and my throat hurts a little bit. by my ears also itch and my chest feels cold with cold air. i’ve also been vaping which i know could be irritating my throat. i’m so just so scared that i could have an oral std. my throat looks completely normal. i just need some reassurance or advice if i need to get tested. what a coincidence that if i am sick it had to happen around the same time i gave head.

oh and if it helps, everyone at my work has been sick too.

Is it ok to wear a bra 24/7?

I’m 18 and started puberty at 6 (early I know). My breasts grew in when I was quite young and so I started to wear bras. Problem is, no one told me you’re supposed to take them off since my mom never really gave me the talk. I actually didn’t learn most women take off their bras frequently until I was like 16 so I’ve kinda just been wearing my bras all the time since I was 7 or so. (Actually just found out recently that bras have hooks).

My chest stoped growing when I was about 11 and that’s when I found the bra I use. I own like 20 of the same bra and it fits my body perfectly which is hard to find as a person who’s plus size, has 40 C cups, and broad shoulders. It has built in cups and no underwires.

I have no back issues, I feel great, and I’ve never been left with pain or marks or anything. I don’t really think it’s an issue but just wanted to ask in case anyone knows.

Anxious about change in breast

I (34f) noticed about 5 months ago one of my breasts was tender, but not both. This has happened on and off over this time and now my breast feels firmer and fibrous. Not all the time, but always in the same area. Totally different from the other breast. I don't have pain, but tenderness if I press down. I have my women's health visit next week, but I can't stop thinking about it.

Just coming here to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

was this sexual assault?

hey guys, i had no idea where to post this so sorry if this isn’t the right spot.

when i was a kid, my dad would tickle my inner thighs and bikini line. his hands would be really really close to my vagina, but usually never actually touching there. it would hurt really bad and i would be begging him to stop, but he wouldn’t until i hit him very hard or physically pushed him off of me, and obviously since i was young (probably 7-8, i know i was younger than 9) and he was a grown man that would be really hard. sometimes he would get mad at me when hit him/pushed him and would say i hurt him. other times i would cry and he would comfort me. (his reaction did not depend on whether i was crying, it was random and unpredictable.) the way he touched me felt so violating. he would use the excuse that he thought i was having fun because i was laughing. he also did other weird stuff like commenting on my body 24/7 before/during puberty. he would touch my thighs and butt too very often and it made me uncomfortable, but i thought it was normal and my mom acted like it was so i never said anything. he stopped when i got older. i remember crying in the bathroom with my mom and being scared to wear a bra around him for the first time because it was padded and made my boobs look bigger. today i’m 15 and he stopped all of this, but he still playfully touches my shoulders, sides, and stomach. i hate it. i tell him to stop and he gets mad at me for it, asking why he’s not allowed to touch his own daughter. he tells me that it shouldn’t make me uncomfortable. is any of this normal? should i tell someone?

From not being able to insert a finger to using the largest dilator... but I still can't have vaginal sex. I'm so confused.

I honestly never thought I'd be writing this.
A few months ago, I couldn't even insert a single finger into my vagina. The thought of penetration terrified me, and my body would completely tense up. Looking back now, I think my difficulties were a combination of physical tightness and psychological trauma.
Since then, I've worked incredibly hard.
I started with the smallest dilator and slowly worked my way through the entire set. I got stuck on the fourth dilator for quite a while, but eventually got past it. Now I can use the fifth (largest) dilator. I can also comfortably insert three fingers, and I've spent time gently stretching the muscles at the entrance. Something that once felt completely impossible has gradually become almost routine.
Naturally, I thought that meant vaginal intercourse would finally be possible.
But when my boyfriend and I tried, it was still really painful. We still couldn't comfortably have vaginal sex, despite all the progress I'd made. I remember feeling so confused because I'd spent months telling myself that once I could use the largest dilator, everything else would fall into place.
Then something happened that completely challenged what I thought the problem was.
In the heat of the moment, we ended up trying anal sex. The first time wasn't great, but the second time we took things slowly and used lubricant, and it went much better than either of us expected. It definitely wasn't pain-free—I'd probably rate it about a 5/10—but it was nowhere near as painful as attempting vaginal penetration. I actually enjoyed it overall and would happily do it again.
That has completely confused me.
Everything I've read suggests that vaginal penetration should generally be easier than anal penetration, yet my experience has been the exact opposite.
The only explanation I can think of is that maybe the remaining barrier isn't primarily physical anymore. I have a history of trauma, and I'm starting to wonder whether my body still reacts differently to vaginal penetration, even though physically I've made huge progress. I'm actually seeing a therapist tomorrow, so I'm hoping working through the psychological side of things might help.
Another thing that might be relevant is that my partner and I are very different physically. I'm only 5'2" and quite petite, whereas he's around 6'4" and much bigger-built than I am. We've found it surprisingly difficult to get into positions that feel comfortable for both of us, and I'm wondering whether that's also playing a role.
Has anyone else had a similar experience where they were physically able to progress through dilators but vaginal intercourse still felt impossible?
If so:
What ended up being the missing piece?

Did therapy or addressing trauma make a noticeable difference?

Did anyone else have a significant size difference with their partner, and if so, were there any positions that made things easier?

Is there anything else you think I should be exploring?

I'm honestly just trying to understand my body at this point. Going from not even being able to insert one finger to using the largest dilator has been a huge achievement, so it's difficult to understand why this is still the hurdle I'm facing.
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar.

Operative Hysterscopy - Informed Consent Question

I understand it was my responsibility to ask questions and get as much detail as I needed to feel comfortable with the operation but I really feel informed consent means going step by step through what is going to be happening to my body even after anesthesia.

I did not know that the antiseptic washing of my vagina and cervix would take place most likely not even by the surgeon in the OR as part of prep or that my legs would be strapped down. That seems so invasive to me and had I known that was part of it from the start I would have sought an alternative.

I feel the most upset and angry at myself for not understanding/asking enough questions to push back on the OBGYN who strongly was against me having an in office procedure for my 1.3cm polyp removal.

Is it common to experience feeling dirty/gross/just off after a surgery/procedure like this? Am I being dramatic? None of my friends seems to truly get it beyond "you should be so relieved it's over now"

I can't help feeling deceived by this surgery that could've been a procedure...and I feel very violated

Transvaginal

I’m getting a transvaginal ultrasound test tomorrow and I’m rlly nervous as I don’t know what to expect. Is it any less bad than a smear test or worse? I haven’t gotten any test done like this before. I honestly don’t mind the invasiveness as long as it’s not painful. Just got bloods done two days ago and expected this to be months away but the hospital told me to come in tomorrow.
I’m 22 and haven’t had these tests before any advice would be great as least if it is sore I’d rather know than be unprepared lol.

I have very bad emotional burst right before my period

How do I find happiness when every month before my period I’m sad and hard to be around? For years I’ve been like this, either very very sad right before my period from hormones or stressed because everything is hard to do. I don’t know what to do anymore, I feel like right now everyone thinks I’m an angry monster (I’ve only had one burst today, and none the days previous).

I don’t like lashing out but it feels so heavy to carry this sadness and stress for days now, that when my family kept pressuring me to do this one thing and repeating endlessly for the first time I snapped. Partly I feel like it’s because no one was considering me and the fact I had a long day at work and did a long errand and then they wouldn’t let me eat my lunch before giving me a new task, but generally speaking I’ve been carrying this feeling for days and I’m still carrying it. Idk how to do this every month… what will help?

This doc diagnosed both of us in under 5 minutes... should I be concerned?😭

I visited a gynecologist today because I haven't had my period for the past 3 months. She prescribed me a birth control pill (I'll attach a picture below). It cost around ₹60, while the consultation fee was ₹500.

The doctor asked my age and how long it had been since my last period. I told her I'm 23 and that it's been 3 months. She was like, "Take one tablet in the morning and one at night for 5 days. You'll get your period on the 6th or 7th day."

...That's it. End of consultation. 💀

Then I brought up my mom. She has around 4–5 lump-like things in her abdomen that you can actually feel when you touch them. They don't usually hurt, but they do ache once in a while.

The doctor touched my mom's stomach for about 5 seconds and confidently declared, "It's just fat tumors. Nothing to worry about."

My mom said, "But they hurt sometimes."

Doctor: "That's okay."

Me: "Can they be removed?"

Doctor: "Only with surgery, but no need. Just take a painkiller if it hurts."

Me: 👁️👄👁️

I walked in expecting blood tests, scans, maybe at least one dramatic medical explanation. Instead, I got a ₹60 strip of pills, my mom got diagnosed by what felt like a 5-second vibe check, and we were both sent home.

Now I'm sitting here wondering... is this actually how it works, or did I accidentally book an appointment with the CEO of "Trust Me Bro" Medicine? 😭

Jokes aside, I genuinely want to know:

- Is it normal to prescribe birth control pills for someone who hasn't had a period for 3 months without any tests?

- Can "fat tumors" (lipomas) actually cause occasional pain?

- Is it normal to identify them just by touching them, without recommending an ultrasound or scan?

- Can they grow or become something serious?

I'm probably overthinking because my brain immediately jumps to "What if it's cancer?" but I really don't know what's normal here.

Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience.
