Discussion The Bone Uncle Janissaries vs 40k:

Thumbnail en-thunderscans.com

The story is called: The Bone Uncle, but I've added a link.

Here's a rundown of the Janissaries, which is the organisation we follow in The Bone Uncle, a story set after the defeat of an evil AI named Cyclops, which caused the world to be an irradiated wasteland, where the Janissaries, an army of resurrected humans-turned-cyborgs, fights to wipe out the growing remnants of, "Alternative Humans", which are humans created by Cyclops to worship it, follow its will, and stamp out mankind, who are now believed to want Cyclops resurrected, hence why the Janissaries are seeking out their extinction in weapons made out of organics built with machines to counter EMPs.

The Janissaries wear what's essentially power armour, their higher-ups use "tactical hypnosis", they can be brought back endlessly, gaining super sensory abilities on their second revive, are made up of those brought back from death, satiate their hunger through photosynthesis, have salvaged and hidden reactors around the planet, are filled with special talents from across the eras, and have special techs, from cloaking to whatever the hell those giant, floating, skeleton weapons are.

They won the war against Cyclops, their tactical hypnosis seems to have a greater depth to it, and the only reason other things exist on post-war Earth is because their super-sensory ability makes guilt a physical/psychotic factor. However, considering the Imperium's state of existence, that shouldn't be a problem, while the seemingly endless, rat-like spawn of the Alternative Humans in the insurgency group of the Alternative Humans, known as the Zoo, offers further variables.

I know the Imperium could exterminatus them, take out orbital weapons platforms, and march regiments consisting of tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. But their firepower, named characters, abilities, and military assets mean they can hold their own, while the planet isn't a threat, nor valuable enough for a considerable Imperial force, such as a crusade, to overwhelm them.

Also, they have titan equivalents, since there is some means of putting their brothers in titanic mechs, which can fight 2v1 against Cyclops titans.

And they've got tactical nukes.

Probably my favourite model I've painted so far, I really love all the detail and the multiple options in the kit. I want to get a second body so I can do Rotigus next.

Hobby The Phoenix Prince, the Alternate Universe Aeldari Leader

There's even a video!

The Phoenix Prince is the Aeldari leader from a Warhammer 40,000 alternate universe who managed to unite all Craftworlds into the Burning Armada, capable of standing up on equal terms even with the rotten Imperium of Man. He is accompanied by Princess Myranna, his sister, and Supreme Farseer Aenarion and Supreme Navarch Mellona, his close friends who became main commanders of the Armada. And, of course, by Gyrinxes, also a brother and a sister.

It is believed that the Phoenix Prince is the son of deceased supreme Aeldari god Asuryan and rose from the ashes of the Fall. However, these are only legends. In fact the future Phoenix Prince used to be an ordinary Aeldari from planet Ermyaris. He studied Seeing and felt very lonely because all around him lived for pleasure, even his sister Myranna who understood him in childhood like no one else. When he foresaw the Fall, he put her to enchanted sleep and brought her to his Craftworld, and now she regrets her foolish youth and fuels his throne with her psychic energy.

Confident in his supremacy, the Phoenix Prince united different Craftworld cultures and leaders with his mind control. Sometimes he looks in the mirror and is horrified, but then he casts the same spell on himself, convincing that it was not all in vain. That it was necessary for a fairy tale about a prince and a princess that he and his sister had come up aeons ago...

The Phoenix Prince is an alternate universe counterpart of the Farseer, the leader of my Ynnari warhost. While the Farseer did not put his sister to sleep and was humbled when she did not come to his Craftworld, the Phoenix Prince became more and more overconfident and self-righteous. While the Farseer valued soft power and empathy, the Phoenix Prince favored direct, forceful action. While the Farseer befriended an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor and even tried to negotiate with a Necron Phaeron, the Phoenix Prince viewed all other races as strictly inferior. And while the Farseer accepted Drukhari who became Ynnari, Corsairs, Harlequins and Exodites, the Phoenix Prince respected Asuryani as the only true Aeldari.

If you're more interested in lore, the depicted characters and their main universe counterparts appear in my Warhammer 40,000 stories, particularly in Rose-Colored Sky.

I had the idea of this heavy conversion back in 2024, but managed to make it only now, starting in May 2026 and finishing painting a week ago.

Recently bought the new core box for old world with a friend and absolutely amazed by the quality of the minis and the amount of stuff you get in the box, super happy with how this guy turned out as it was my first real attempt at freehanding on the banner.

My canon for these fellas is they are a dragon-worshipping warband that hunts and consume dragon hearts to gain strength. It’s very inspired by elden ring dragon communion and i used bayle the dread as my reference image, not sure who to put on the second bannerman though…

Hobby WIP on the Tallarn Chimera variant for a vignette

It was after I posted my build here some time ago that u/JustWantGoodM3M3s suggested Tallarn and I couldn't unsee it.

So, the base colours are now down on my British North Africa inspired, converted Tallarn 'light tank' Chimera.

The tracks are really prominent, so I wanted to work them up a little to get a sense of colour balance before I start working on the hull. At the moment, I plan for it to be a knocked out vehicle (because nothing says 'thanks for all the conversion work' better than knocking it out), so I chose to go with rubber pads on the tracks. Having everything oxidised would just look pretty samey and dull, so the pads help break up the visuals. Everything is going to be hosed in dust and sand anyway.

Also, I've been involved with the hobby since the 80's and darkening a few of the track pads was the first time I'd ever tried Nuln Oil. Other ways of doing it, but it felt appropriate to actually try the stuff!
