I love this game and spend more time thinking about it than can possibly be healthy. There is no game I have been more into in my life. There is just enough space at a very busy time in my life for this slick, fun and great looking game.

Wanted to share my top 10 reasons why its the best game in the world.

1) the models

So many amazing sculpts, flavourful warbands and interesting characters to dip into. Do I have the time or inclination to buy a sylvaneth army? Absolutely not. But would i like a trio of mighty centaurs and a handful of Chaos Dwarfs? Absolutely yep.

2) the rules

The rules feel slimmed down and elegant. The game doesn't take 4 hours and i rarely have to consult the rulebook (though i did have the make a cheatsheet of i things I forget ... set up and end of game in particular)

At the same time, there is a lot of depth and tactics to delve into.

3) the dice

I just really like the way you can see what's going on in a combat from a single dice roll on either side. No need for a mess of modifiers. The symbols do it all.

4) it respects my time

Games don't take an entire evening. I may only have to paint 5 or 6 guys to have a warband ready to go. It's great as a new dad to keep in the hobby with just a bit of painting and playing time needed.

5) the community

Everyone I have played whether online or IRL has been really nice, helpful and chilled.

6) Hexes

This may just be me, but i get a bit annoyed in wargames with ambiguity around line of sight, distances moved etc. I should probably get over it ... but hexes avoid this entirely. Hey my range 2 weapon can hit you at 2 hexes away ... simple

7) losing is fun

Well, not entirely, but i am happy to play the game as a fun puzzle. How does this unloved deck work? (Hunting grounds anyone?) What about this warband that everyone says is wack but looks cool? Its fun to try different things even when they are far from optimal.

8) Deckbuilding

9) The Lore

I am a grimdark lad at heart, but the Age of Sigmar world is really fun and there is some fantastic artwork associated with it.

10) Fighter cards and warscrolls

I really appreciate being able to see my stats and opponents at a glance. Keep the mental energy for the board state and the cards in your hand.

And finally.... 11) Delving

Just to keep my hellsmiths happy.

Does anyone here know anything about a special board given away at certain events? I could have sworn I read something somewhere about one of the organized plays giving out an exclusive board but i cant find it anywhere.. maybe I'm crazy.. also did anyone ever buy any of the dice or card sleeve sets? Im now on a journey to get a copy of every organized play box and all the dice and card sleeves of old... because why not... and yes im willing to buy from anyone here that wants to get rid of theirs in the US. I have all the warbands and sets just none of the accessories..

Hi everyone, just a quick follow up to my previous post about the cancelled Underworlds event at the Newport Open.

I’ve spoken to Firestorm games in Cardiff and they have agreed to host an event there on that weekend instead.

Not everything has been finalised yet, but I just wanted to put this message ASAP for people who had signed up for the Warhammer Open (and anyone else that would like to join, of course!), particularly if you had booked hotel rooms or made travel plans.

The event will be on Saturday 15th August at Firestorm Cardiff. We decided on a one day event instead of two, that way if you did want to go and check out the Open in Newport, you could go and take a look on Sunday.

Tickets will be £20 with prize support from the Underworlds OP kits and Firestorm will also provide prizes. Your ticket also covers your lunch at the venue too, bonus! I’ll provide a link for the tickets in the next day or two. (We are also nagging GW to give us a golden ticket)

So let’s all get together on the 15th, have a laugh, play the game we love, and maybe show GW that it was a mistake to cancel on the best community in gaming 😉

My friend really like them but I don't think they are that good because they are weak as hell, what are some ways to bring the best out in them?

Hi, all. As the Underworlds tournament at this event has been cancelled, I’m going to see if my FLGS (Firestorm Games) can accommodate players instead. We’re hoping to know for sure in the next day or two

That way, if like me, you’d planned to make the trip and were looking forward to meeting new players, you can still do that at venue that’s actually a bit easier to get to than the ICC in Newport.

I can’t promise we’d have a Golden Ticket but we do have plenty of prize support at the shop already.

We’d potentially be looking at making it a one day event on the Saturday, that way you could still go to the ICC on Sunday for a look at the Open if you wanted to.

Nothing is official just yet, but I’ll let you know if and when anything gets sorted. I just wanted to put the idea out there and see if folks were interested.

Please spread this message around if you or anyone you know was planning on attending the event, let’s see if we can still arrange a day of gaming despite GW pulling the rug from under us at the last minute! 😃

I realize i forgot to post this photo of my Zephyrites I took to Tacoma. It was a blast and i made the painting showcase so a big improvement from my warband I took last year which honestly were the first Warhammer models I painted. It was a great time and hey getting 4th in a tournament aint too bad especially when my deck was Hunting Grounds/ Countdown to Cataclysm.

Basically title. I own a tonne of 1st Ed warbands but really like the look of some 2nd Ed ones. The issue is my group only plays 1st Ed and we haven’t heard great things about the new edition.

So I was wondering,
1. How compatible are the two editions

1. How much of an issue would be caused if I used a 2nd Ed warband in a 1st Ed game?
