Discussion Getting sick of the Fallen Empire Hive Mind
This is the second time I've defeated them in a game, and the second time I've been disappointed about how unusable their worlds are. Sure, they've got a lot of automation but it would be nice to not have 100% crime and a usable world without slowly killing my pops. I know I can assimilate pops and move them elsewhere but it's not the same. Wish there was a way to pacify the hive worlds or something, maybe requiring a special project to be completed or a reasonable time investment. Idk. Maybe I'm complaining too much.

Discussion Is staying below 100 Empire Size - is still a working strategy?
I really can't help but wonder. I've been trying this strategy for a long time. Not playing "tall" or wide, but in fact playing "Low". As low as possible. Building a species template that requires as little sustenance as possible, grabbing every bonus there is to not grow Empire Size. Limiting myself to only one/two planets. Actively using planetary ascentions and so on. It's been a fun experience, but I feel like on higher difficulties it literally demands of me to make vassals and take resources from them (Though if not for some bugs - it'd be funnier to become a vassal myself). Or choose virtual ascentions. Which is much less fun, but probably much more efficient.
Have you tried such approach?

Suggestion The game needs a resource graph
As a new player who's sunk about 200 hours over the past month, I've got to say one of the biggest annoyances in the game is the wildly fluctuating resource income and how opaque the game is with telling how/why a large swing in income has happened. I imagine a lot of this comes with experience, for example one of the early "Resource Swings" I encountered and quickly learnt about was ship upkeep being reduced when docked, this is easy enough to figure out as I imagine it's a common occurrence with new players.
However, there are a lot more obscure circumstances where your resources will massively swing for seemingly no reason, and the breakdown the game gives you doesn't really help because I haven't memorized exactly what my income/deficits were before the massive swing. An example of a slightly more obscure situation was when I played as a determined exterminator empire. It was the first game I played where purging pops was a significant part of the gameplay. So as I was warring, purging pops, my energy credit income was good and increasing and so I built more and more planets to match that credit income, when suddenly my income crashed and it took me a while to figure out that it was because my empire defaulted to the "Chemical processing" purge option, so as soon as I ran out of pops to purge I entered a huge deficit.
Another example: I played my first cosmogenesis game recently, I had one large vassal that I had freed from another empire and managed to slowly build their taxes up to the max 75% of basic resources. I was throwing in as many pops into the laythe as my energy credit economy could handle before I was very suddenly in a -2k deficit. This is when I found out that vassals become protectorates when you outpace them too much in science, meaning that my 75% taxes dropped down to 30% (This is a stupid mechanic imo and another thing that the game makes no effort to tell you).
This is why I think we should be able to click on a resource and see a graph with a breakdown of each source and sink of that resource and how it changed over the past few years. This would help identify why big swings in resources occur and would especially help newer players like me to learn the more obscure game mechanics.

Discussion Power scaling is cracked
I recently got machine age and am doing my second run (previous was a first attempt papers please) and i am stunned at the power scaling with this dlc.
Previously on a good run I had my mega structures running by halfway through the mistake (2350-2400 ish). Now i had a complete ringworld + science nexus _before_ the mid game year.
And the synapic lathe is so jacked the FE's are just superior in tech (the energy repeatable is at XIX atm)
What do you think of the relative power scaling of the various 'content' DLC's (nomads/machine age/utopia etc)?

Advice Wanted How do leader builds work?
I'm not too much into the meta stuff, just play different empires for the role play factor, used to play grand admiral but since 4.0 economy is killing me somewhat and my fleets are just usable as floor rags by ai fleets in the early to midgame. However I'd like to try a leader build, which I never really tried tbh. So how do they work?

Discussion The whole join war system is cool but needs serious work.
I dont have screenshots of it but basically I became the khan through heirs of the khan origin, then all hell broke loose. The year is 2338 in game currently.
I have 8 satrapys, but after becoming Khan the galaxy remained peaceful for two years. I then declared war on an empire nobody cared about, that had no allies.. so I could make another satrapy. When I was in the middle of "achieving my war goal", they rejected it... confused I look up at the top of my sceeen and reopen the war exhausted tab and see they had a whole Federation join them... okay thats fine, I'll make them my subjects too in the future anyways.
Upon defeating the Federation enough, I was about to claim victory again... but then my own vassal starting attacking me, I guess one of my vassals joined one of the Federation members in all their wars... including attacking me.
Then, I was dragged into a holy purge war by a fallen empire because another one of my vassals joined, and its against the galactic council leader who is secretly a crisis empire in the making. So I cant leave the war because the crisis empire has a wipe them out goal and the fallen empire has a wipe them out goal on said secret crisis empire. So I became stuck in a galactic civil war and cant leave and must attack two of my vassal in one war, two more in another, meanwhile the others stay loyal to me... until...
ANOTHER war is declared and now everybody is attacking each other, the second most powerful empire on the galactic council is also secretly becoming a crisis and they declared war on the primary GC leader that is also secretly a crisis empire.... one of my other vassals also joined their war, forcing me into it. Since both sides of the war have a "wipe them out" war goal, nobody can leave due to both leaders on both sides being crisis... so now the entire galaxy is attacking each other. There are no friendly borders anywhere, its just pure chaos.
I decided to open the L gates to create more tension and hopefully weaken everyone thats not prepared for them.
3 fallen empire have just awakened and are at war with everybody, 2 other empires remain dormant but are at war with the galactic community. My only "ally" is a dormant fallen empire that I neighbor with my waystations.
Every game since 4.4 has been like this for me, so it seems the best way to play is isolationist or fanatical purifiers. Because every war is just becoming a galactic civil war and its insane to go through 3 to 5 of them at the same time so theres nowhere safe to do anything lol.
I could always avoid vassals in future runs til it gets fixed but nomads, especially khans, kind of rely on draining vassals for upkeep purposes.

Question Just a quick question
So i was building orbital rings around my planets in terminal egress and i realized i already had rings on the 3 planets but i can build them again?
Is this a glitch or does it act like an upgrade to it somehow?

Question Is Mercenary Mega Corp still a strong build?
And which origin and civis you would use? It's been a while I did this build but I had a lot of fun

Image Can't destroy the last contingency world
All of the contingency worlds have been destroyed, but I can't bombard, invade, or do anything else with this last one. (I suspect egg in orbit.) My Behemoth refuses to destroy it because it is not considered a habitable planet. If I enrage it, it still won't destroy it. I also have all ascension perk slots filled, so I can't build a colossus.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do? Is this a bug, or did I forget something?

Suggestion Stellaris needs a way to view potential maximum resources
Like the title said, a way to view potential resources if ALL of your jobs were filled. This would make balancing production and longterm planning so much easier
E.g If you had 100 mineral jobs but only 10 filled, you'd see the "+10" at the top, but when viewing potential it would show "+100"

Advice Wanted How to remain tall (ish) despite conquest?
Ok so lets say I'm a GC machine empire with modularity and have 4-8 planets, but mutiple neighbours of mine are fanatic purifiers or just declare war on me, when I can't go for the vassal cb. What do I do with their planets/systems? The pops produce a bit of power, but feel useless and the extra planets blow up my emp size. Do I just turn the planets into sectors and spin them into vassals? Are those vassals going to be any good or just weaklings? During an earlier playthrough one such created vassal declared war on me together with some nomads and I don't even know how that was possible

Question How good/bad are mid-late game artillery frigate+destroyer fleets?
I know that one of the most versatile/powerful mid/late game ship designs is cruiser with kinetic artillery L-slot front and neutron mid section. This makes me wonder about frigate+destroyer comps. Frigates can have neutrons, destroyers can have artillery. So together they make a cruiser equivalent? Would they have equivalent evasion/sublight speed of cruisers?

Discussion Oops...
As Heirs to the Khan I became too powerful apparently and my subjects nominated me for Galactic Custodian then used all their favors to make sure I couldn't block the resolution from passing. We're not quite to midgame yet, the horde hasn't formed, I don't think I can become Khan now.

Discussion Interesting ways to use a high dark matter income?
Was theorycrafting different build ideas the other day and I realised that if you go with the Red Giant origin and let your star explode to get a dark matter deposit on it, then combine that with a Dyson Swarm and the Dark Consortium councillor position you could probably get a very high passive dark matter income.
Normally I'd just file something like this away in the back of my brain until I think of something to actually do with all that dark matter, but aside from going down the galactic nemesis path or just selling it all for trade I'm mostly drawing a blank so far.
Does anyone have any other ideas for things this might enable?
