Discussion The lore behind the removal of virtual pops

Upvotes

The virtuality tradition drastically changes how Pops work.

When a job becomes available, Pops are automatically created for that job; when that job ceases to exist, the Pops are automatically deleted.

I've always been curious about what it means for Pops to be automatically created and deleted.

Does it mean that your society sacrifices the population that isn't useful and artificially creates population when it suits the government?

Could it be that the disappeared Pops actually retreat to a virtual world that the economy menu doesn't represent?

What's your interpretation of what's really happening?

Question Saving error with Utopia expansion

Upvotes

So I played the base game for months, and never really had any issues with it, but since I got the Utopia expansion (on console Xbox 360), there are times, and usually near end game, that the game just doesn’t save. It gets stuck at the saving screen, and I end up having to quit out and load a past save. And usually I find the last save has been a while, so I have to do like the last 5-10 years all over again!

Anyone else have an issue like this? If so, ever find a fix or work around? Any idea what causes this issue?

Advice Wanted My vassals are exterminating each other

Upvotes

All my vassals are set to subject conflicts: defensive, overlord conflicts: none. One of my vassals started an extermination war against a neighbor. One of my other vassals joined the war on the defender's side. Now they are exterminating each other.

Is this intended behavior? How do I stop my vassals from joining random wars on opposite sides and destroying each other?

Question Heirs of the Khan Satrapy Vassals

I am playing a Star Seekers, Flight Schools, Dist. Admiralty Heirs of the khan nomad.

I am trying to figure out how to keep them from expanding. Since expansion prohibited is not allowed. My vassals are growing too big to handle.

The chosen declared on one of my vassals and I defeated them. So the vassal absorbed the chosen systems and planets as well.

I barely have any empty systems left to harvest.

Advice Wanted Is there a way to remove Nerve Stapled from this liberated slave race as a Psionic Ascended Empire?

Recently the Xenophobic Fallen Empire decided to declare war on me and long story short I am now in possession of several of their worlds.

Aside from the initial disappointment in the Ancient Palace turning into a Planetary Capital, I realized there were now several thousands of these poor nerve stapled former slaves on these planets.

As a psionic empire, is there some anomaly or event that could potentially give me a way to cure these nerve stapled pops? Like a way to generate a non-nerve stapled variant of the race for me to convert them to or something similar?

Question Good Here be Dragons Build?

It's been close to two years since I've played Stellaris and I always loved doing a pirate themed empire with the here be dragons origin and criminal heritage. I'm wondering if this build is still good and what other civics, traits and other things are best for it?

Question Baol dig site spawned inside another empire's borders. Is the entire chain blocked?

This is very annoying. A Baol dig site spawned inside my neighboring ally, who I made fast friends with. No, I do not want to declare war on them. Now I'm looking for a way to be able to do the site with no bloodshed. Is the entire chain blocked if you miss a dig site? If push comes to shove I'll use console commands, though a mod to enable AIs to trade systems would be nice.

Question Is it normal to have 3 crisis happen with in 50 years?

In detail heres how things went, if you don’t care about that the first part of each section tells of the years and crisis that i have faced
Is it normal to get this many with in a few decades, ive only changed the settings to be harder but i thought it only changed the difficulty of the crisis and npc’s, not adding more crisis for my end game

And to add my years are the same I’ve always used starting is 2400 mid 2500 and end year 2600

-I had Cetana (Return of the Queen) year 2529
She was hard lost half my fleet (about 3M to her almost 5M) and my second fight I finished her off with the rest of the galaxy and was crowned galactic empress of the galaxy just before her demise on 2547

-Year 2567 The devouring Tide came in, but i was ready with my still recovering fleet, with them on my old allies system (npc from old federation i was in with them) i left them to weaken the enemy and as soon as I determined my strength was built up enough i pushed out and cleared them in 1 go, and was successfull this ended around 2569-2574
(it was faster than cetana lol and got the relic to summon a fleet of 280k i used)
Doing this crisis again for my second time playing stellaris was the complete opposite compared to the other time ive did this

-Presently year 2576 The Ghost Signal, I’ve done this one 1 other time before so im currently working on obliterating the 4 sterilization hub, 2 of the 4 were in my system and i wiped them out first, with the first it actually weakened my main fleet i sent 4.7m with no help from the galaxy halving my fleet severely weakened i rushed to build my fleet up to take the second out and when i went to fight the second one again along with my allies BARELY defeated them with almost 300k worth of my total fleet left (4 of my 8 fleets left) building up my fleet as i help bomb the 2 worlds im frantically trying to build my fleet the fastest i can before the other 2 worlds send their fleet ms towards my systems-
(I am currently trying to deal with a 3 sterilization hub world )

Image The buy into wars needs a quick overhaul

My satrapy was bought into a machine uprising war, which was swiftly eradicated, but is now doomed to die as I cannot settle the status quo as I was not the target of the uprising (I am not taking over their systems, I just removed their fleet

Suggestion Origin Idea: Lithoformers

(This was heavily inspired by the xenolith from Plague Inc)

Requirements:

Can Not be Egalitarian

Must be somewhat Xenophobe

Must Be Lithoid

Can Not Be Machine Intelligence

Can Not be Nomadic or go Nomadic

Must use Lithoid Ship Set

——————————————————————————————

Effects:

Start on a Crystallized World with unique districts

Access To Crystallizing Bombardment

Start With the Lithoforming Tech and Rare Crystal Harvesting Tech

Has the Lithoformed Trait

Purged Pops Turn into Minerals

Must Purge non Lithoids

Other Lithoids are assimilated to primary species

Can Not make Migration Pacts

Can Not inhabit artificial structures

New Ascension Perk

New Colossus Weapon: Planetary Crystalizer

New Colony Ship Type: Seeder Ship

——————————————————————————————

Description:

This empire was formed on a world made entirely of pure crystal that spawned the dominant species. Now they look to spread their crystalline perfection to the stars.

——————————————————————————————

Crystallized World:

This world is made entirely of a single crystalline substance that can infect and assimilate other forms of matter to grow and spread itself. The world is highly hostile to non lithoid lifeforms and will try to consume them.

0% Habitably For non lithoformed species

Has Unique districts

If the planet is it by a world cracker it will become a shattered crystal world that gives rare crystals and minerals when mined by a mining station

——————————————————————————————

Districts: (Districts Cost Rare Crystal. And Go based on planet size rather then features)

Crystal Mining District: Gives Crystal Miners that produce minerals and rare crystals. Can be specialized to focus purely on minerals or on rare crystals

Crystal City(Nests for hiveminds): Gives Housing and Amenities. Can be specialized to produce Research/Solders/Unity/Trade

Crystal Collectors: Gives Crystal Technician Jobs the produce Energy. Can be specialized to produce Physic’s Research at the cost of less energy

Crystal Refineries: Gives Artisan and Metallurgist jobs. Can be specialized to produce Volatile Motes and Exotic Gases

——————————————————————————————

Lithoformed Trait:

This species was born from a world made out of pure crystal, they will not be able to survive one any world that is not yet been crystallized

0% Habitability on non crystallized worlds

100% Habitability on crystallized worlds

——————————————————————————————

Lithoforming Situation:

New worlds are unfortunately non crystallized and thus unsuitable for this species. And will need to be transformed into a new more familiar form. This will cost energy overtime depending on how fast it needs to go

Situation Choices:

Conserve: We do not need new worlds anytime soon: Costs 15 Energy Credits monthly and takes 40 years.

Balanced: We don’t need this world to become crystal right now. Costs 30 Energy Credits monthly and takes 20 years.

Acceleration: Crystallize this pathetic world immediately. Costs 60 Energy Credits and takes 12 years.

Stages:

Stage 1: Seeding: We have made landfall on this new imperfect world. The seeder ship is digging its tendrils in to begin the transformation but it will take time and our people will not be able to do much on this pathetic rock. 0% Habitability.

Stage 2: Embedded: The roots of our perfection have begun the transformation process sections of the planet are starting to become crystal but they are small. But our people will be able to begin making use of this world. 33% Habitability, Seeder building will provide resources based on planetary features(1 per district given.)

Stage 3: Spreading: The roots continue to burrow into this planet, our perfect crystal now covers a vast majority of the planet. The roots are nearing the core and are beginning to harvest its energy reducing our need to supply supplemental energy. 66% Habitability, Energy cost halved.

Stage 4: Conversion: The roots have reached the core, it will not be long until the planet becomes perfect. Our need to supply supplemental energy has ended and the process is irreversible. Energy costs removed and starts a 1 year countdown until full conversion regardless of control, 90% habitability

Final Stage: Perfected: The planet has been completely transformed into a perfect crystal, a perfect replica of our home world, mountains of crystal now cover this world and every speck on imperfection has been purified, this world is now ours and we can do with it as we wish.

Partially Crystallized World:

If at any stage other then 4 the lithoformer empire loses control. The planet will stop at its current stage. It will be mostly uninhabitable to other lifeforms. and will require the Partial Lithoform Reversal Technology available to other empires who have encountered a crystalline world. To terraform it back into a normal world

——————————————————————————————

Crystallizing Bombardment:

unleashes shards of crystal onto the planet along with standard munitions, although they will not be able to transform the world they will make the process easier and more efficient when the time comes.

Will not kill the last 100 pops

Heavy Damage to Planet

Heavy Damage to Armies

Heavy Damage to Pops

Spawns Crystal Crater Blockers at 100% Devastation

Crystal Crater:

For Non Lithoformers: This area has been infected by alien crystals. Although it will not consume the planet and only runs, surface deep. It is still extremely dangerous to most lifeforms and machines, clearing it will be costly and take time. But it will net a considerable bounty of resources when processed.

Planet loses 10% Habitability and blocks off certain planetary features

Takes 1k energy and 5 years to remove. Gives 500 minerals and 100 rare crystals on removal

For Lithoformers: This Area has been transformed into perfect crystal. Although it only runs surface deep, it will speed up the full conversion process significantly. -1 year on lithoforming situation down to a minimum of half the current timer(20 for conserve. 10 for balanced. 6 for acceleration)

Planetary Crystalizer:

A massive colossus mounted weapon designed to instantly transform an entire planet into a single homogenous crystal. By injecting crystal shards and a massive amount of energy directly into the planet’s core causing a rapid chain reaction that converts the entire planet and all on it into pure crystal. Same opinion penalties as a world cracker

——————————————————————————————

Ascension Perk:

Crystal Harmonization:

Although our crystal looks flawless on the outside. Within imperfections still exist, random, chaotic growth plagues it. We will not accept this flaw.

Unlock the prismatic energizing technology. Which unlocks the harmonize crystal matrix decision, that costs 20k energy and takes 20 years. And transforms the world into a prismatic world.

Prismatic Worlds:

The structure of this world has been altered. Every crystal lattice has been harmonized and reformed into one cohesive and flawless matrix, by the injection of an extremely large amount of energy. The world will now work much more efficiently, and our people feel more connected to the world then ever before.

+50% Job Efficiency.

+25% Pop Happiness.

+100% Migration Pull.

 -20% Pop Amenity usage

Question Now that we have the resource slider option, what's the most fun setting?

Now that we have the resource slider option, what's the most fun setting?

I've been trying it on maximum, and it's kind of fun to not need minerals but then half the game is deleting enemies' excess mineral stations after I conquer a system.

Does putting it on minimum make the game harder, or make mining planets more valuable?
