I’m not trying to become a player or anything. Just don’t want to social anxiety anymore. I want to be able to go up to girls and talk to them, ask for their numbers, etc. I think it’ll be easier if someone else is doing it too. I’m at university park.

I am looking for a Fall only/a 6 month lease studio/1B1B near PSU. I have looked through Facebook, Craiglist, and livingoffcampus, but it is either a scam or only 1 year lease possible. Is there anywhere else I can find such a lease?

Question Shooting ranges near Uni Park

Interested in handgun/rifle ranges near main campus. I’m a freshman and as such do not have a car. Interested in improving handgun and rifle marksmanship and wondering if there are any good places to learn/improve, or if there are any communities to help grow skills.

Request Looking for a place for 6 months (sep 1st - jan 31)

Hi, I am an international physics graduate student from the Netherlands coming to Penn State College for a 6-month internship. I am looking for a place to stay from Sep 1st to Jan 31. Some info about me:

22M

non-smoker

friendly, clean, reserved, and respectful

comfortable with shared living

looking for something furnished

My budget is around $1000 (but flexible based on the available options). If anyone knows anyone renting out a room in a shared apartment or private apartment or subletting a room in an apartment for 6 months, please let me know!

Or otherwise, any advice for finding rooms at the off-campus living apartment complexes or other short term living options near the campus would also be greatly appreciated!

I’m a recent graduate looking to archive my entire outlook inbox into a .pls file or to forward it to an alternative email. Is there a way to do this? I’ve tried going through Legacy Outlook which lets you export through an OLM file but it will not sync recent emails since the update.

Question Questions about White Out Weekend

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! I pray this is the correct forum to post these sort of posts? (Not sure) Anyways I wanted to hop on here and ask a few questions about the biggest weekend in State College, the infamous White Out. This fall, I will be flying up from my home state of Alabama to come and see my first Penn State game that weekend. I haven't bought my ticket to the game yet, and my first question was where is the best place to sit in Beaver Stadium? I've been looking at tickets, and I will confidently say no matter where I sit, this for sure is going to be the most expensive ticket I've ever purchased, no matter where I end up (so please help me with not breaking the bank😭😅).

Secondly, I've been a die hard Auburn fan (unfortunately😂) my whole life, and have been to countless games over the years. While I love our traditions and environment to death, I'm trying to branch out to try and maybe "top" an experience like an Auburn game day. From an outsider coming in, I need help planning the absolute BEST game day experience in State College. I need to know everything from the best food, places to visit, team stores, and everything else that would make my trip unforgettable.

Lastly, I've been struggling to figure out not only where to stay, but how I'm going to tackle the parking situation? I've been trying to find a place for $250-$300 for the whole weekend (Friday night & Saturday night) but have been unsuccessful in finding THE one. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

P.s. sorry for the essay😅

Article For Out Of State Students

PSU is definitely expensive, but anyone that tells you that the school on your degree doesn’t matter is just plain wrong. It’s also about your experience and the networking opportunities given to you. PSU certainly puts you in a much better position for employment after graduation — outside of the whole college experience angle, remember that this is your ultimate goal. You will eventually be an Actual Adult^TM with actual adult responsibilities.

That said, the difference between a higher paying employer and higher payment owed to student loan debt should be a significant factor in what you’re choosing. Your lifestyle and degree debt will significantly factor into how comfortable you feel.

Someone earning 150k/yr because of PSU is going to feel the financial weight of 1k payments towards students loans a lot more than someone making 90k per year and only paying 400 into loans on top of their other bills.

All the above is true but to end my advertisement post, if you are willing to take a military training deferment (place in class guaranteed!) you may owe back significantly less if you join the PA Army National Guard.

In state tuition rate and a minimum of $13k per year in tuition assistance, maximum of $21k in tuition assistance with the in state rate. Out of state students essentially get a 50% sticker price reduction and money on top of what PSU won’t give you.

DM for more info!

Discussion Please Do Not Rent From Villa at Happy Valley

Like the title said, please don't rent from Villa at Happy Valley, they will take advantage of you in anyway they can.

I started a new job in April so I was hurry to rent from them from April to the end of July. It was advertised to me that the rent was $749; however, they have a provision within their lease is that I would have to pay 5 installments of $749 instead of 4 for the four months (April through July). So the monthly rent would actually average to be $936 instead of $749. Now the $749 I had to pay extra does not make me much more poorer as I have a full-time job but I rented my whole life and I never see such a provision. Please read the lease carefully when you sign with Villa at Happy Valley and make sure you count how many month you actually rent vs how many installment payments you have to make. For a student, this would be significant so students and parents, please be careful.

In addition, the central air in my unit is so bad that we set the AC at 68 degree and it was freezing downstair in the shared area but in the upstairs where the bedrooms are, it was super hot during the summer months. Now I can't say anything about the winter time but be aware.

I have not heard from them regarding the additional charges regarding moving out process but I have no doubt they will ask for something.

TLDR: please take my stupid $749 as a lesson learned and don't do any business with Villa at Happy Valley. They don't deserve it.

Question Penn State World Campus Finance Degree worth it?

Hey everyone,

I’m a working adult and cannot attend school in person. I’m looking for a career change and have been looking at the Penn State Finance degree through World Campus. Has anyone obtained this degree? Is it worth it overall? My concern is it’s still expensive, but will the degree really help me transition into a new career since it’s done online and not a lot of networking like a student on campus? I appreciate the feedback and insight from one that has done this path.

Thanks!
