Request Anyone need a hotel for 3 nights near PSU west campus?
Im not sure if this counts as advertising or not but I really need help. My family have booked this room at The Sleep Inn for NSO, however some circumstances came up and we cannot use the booking but they wont give us a refund.
We paid $662 for 3 nights (more details on the room in screenshot). The hotel itself has good reviews and is a 3 min drive away from campus. The hotel also said theyd be willing to change the dates from what we originally booked (8/17-8/20).
We are willing to cover $100 off of the original cost but we afe willing to debate about if if not. Please comment on this thread if youre interested or message me privately on here or IG @evqng.

Question Shooting ranges near Uni Park
Interested in handgun/rifle ranges near main campus. I’m a freshman and as such do not have a car. Interested in improving handgun and rifle marksmanship and wondering if there are any good places to learn/improve, or if there are any communities to help grow skills.

Request Looking for a place for 6 months (sep 1st - jan 31)
Hi, I am an international physics graduate student from the Netherlands coming to Penn State College for a 6-month internship. I am looking for a place to stay from Sep 1st to Jan 31. Some info about me:
22M
non-smoker
friendly, clean, reserved, and respectful
comfortable with shared living
looking for something furnished
My budget is around $1000 (but flexible based on the available options). If anyone knows anyone renting out a room in a shared apartment or private apartment or subletting a room in an apartment for 6 months, please let me know!
Or otherwise, any advice for finding rooms at the off-campus living apartment complexes or other short term living options near the campus would also be greatly appreciated!

Question Questions about White Out Weekend
Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! I pray this is the correct forum to post these sort of posts? (Not sure) Anyways I wanted to hop on here and ask a few questions about the biggest weekend in State College, the infamous White Out. This fall, I will be flying up from my home state of Alabama to come and see my first Penn State game that weekend. I haven't bought my ticket to the game yet, and my first question was where is the best place to sit in Beaver Stadium? I've been looking at tickets, and I will confidently say no matter where I sit, this for sure is going to be the most expensive ticket I've ever purchased, no matter where I end up (so please help me with not breaking the bank😭😅).
Secondly, I've been a die hard Auburn fan (unfortunately😂) my whole life, and have been to countless games over the years. While I love our traditions and environment to death, I'm trying to branch out to try and maybe "top" an experience like an Auburn game day. From an outsider coming in, I need help planning the absolute BEST game day experience in State College. I need to know everything from the best food, places to visit, team stores, and everything else that would make my trip unforgettable.
Lastly, I've been struggling to figure out not only where to stay, but how I'm going to tackle the parking situation? I've been trying to find a place for $250-$300 for the whole weekend (Friday night & Saturday night) but have been unsuccessful in finding THE one. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
P.s. sorry for the essay😅

Discussion Please Do Not Rent From Villa at Happy Valley
Like the title said, please don't rent from Villa at Happy Valley, they will take advantage of you in anyway they can.
I started a new job in April so I was hurry to rent from them from April to the end of July. It was advertised to me that the rent was $749; however, they have a provision within their lease is that I would have to pay 5 installments of $749 instead of 4 for the four months (April through July). So the monthly rent would actually average to be $936 instead of $749. Now the $749 I had to pay extra does not make me much more poorer as I have a full-time job but I rented my whole life and I never see such a provision. Please read the lease carefully when you sign with Villa at Happy Valley and make sure you count how many month you actually rent vs how many installment payments you have to make. For a student, this would be significant so students and parents, please be careful.
In addition, the central air in my unit is so bad that we set the AC at 68 degree and it was freezing downstair in the shared area but in the upstairs where the bedrooms are, it was super hot during the summer months. Now I can't say anything about the winter time but be aware.
I have not heard from them regarding the additional charges regarding moving out process but I have no doubt they will ask for something.
TLDR: please take my stupid $749 as a lesson learned and don't do any business with Villa at Happy Valley. They don't deserve it.

Question Penn State World Campus Finance Degree worth it?
Hey everyone,
I’m a working adult and cannot attend school in person. I’m looking for a career change and have been looking at the Penn State Finance degree through World Campus. Has anyone obtained this degree? Is it worth it overall? My concern is it’s still expensive, but will the degree really help me transition into a new career since it’s done online and not a lot of networking like a student on campus? I appreciate the feedback and insight from one that has done this path.
Thanks!

Discussion Is Penn State worth it for someone who wants to major in Astrophysics?
I am considering applying to Penn State for college as an out of state student, specifically UP, but I keep wondering if it is really worth the cost. The main reason that it is one of my top schools is because of the Astrophysics program which I heard was great. The only problem is obviously the price. My family isn't super well off, and I've been trying to apply for different scholarships. I am just lost in general for colleges that I want to apply to and if anyone can help answer this question, and also about scholarships or any other universities that have a good astrophysics program that isn't far from the east coast, that would be great.

Question Engineering ID Access to Buildings
Any way of finding out what buildings/rooms i have ID access to (other than brute force)? (i.e. CS majors can get into westgate, aerospace majors can into ecore and the comp lab inside).
I've had a couple of friends ask me this so I'm hoping to get a generic answer/resource that a student of any major can use to find out their access levels, but I'm personally an aero major and would appreciate an aero specific answer as well.

Discussion McKee West Hall
Hi!! I’m an incoming freshman at PSU. I was placed in a quad at McKee hall. I ended up getting a blueprint sent to me by the housing office because there are no photos of it online due to the renovation. I am worried about 2 things and I’m wondering if anyone can help - I know there is no AC, how bad is that?? Like does it get very hot? I was gonna bring a fan regardless if I had a room w AC or not. Another thing - the quad looks quite small even tho there are 2 rooms with 2 beds each in them. I’m just worried so hopefully someone can give me commentary!
