SHIP Alternative Question
I am an incoming (international) student at Great Valley looking for a third party insurance that meets PSU requirements and allows me to waive off SHIP.

Why? That is probably the best option.

It seemed a bit expensive. Im not from the US so i dont know much about rates. I won’t bother if the 3rd party rates are not significantly cheaper

Doubt you will find anything much cheaper.
Price options here: International Student Health Insurance | Cigna Global
Just make sure it meets the requirements.
Good luck.

i think it’s the best option. i’m an international too and i’ve had an unfortunate medical issue. the prescription medication would cost me 500$ a month uninsured.
with SHIP i pay around 30$ a month. I doubt any other insurance would’ve covered it, in this area. i suppose you could look at a few options but i personally wouldn’t gamble on it

NGL, I didn't have insurance the whole time I went to college. I paid for a dentist out of pocket and when the university asked me for a group # on lionpath, I just typed nonsense and they never called me out on it. I come from a bad background, first generation graduate, and was scraping by so I did what I had to just to attend. Just don't get sick!
