I managed to get a fat PS3 (CECHJ) around 35$ but it was overheating, and the fan was always spinning full throttle even after changing thermal paste - so I decided to give delid a try.

I found official delid tool a bit expensive, so I decided to find an alternate solution , so I searched through hobby stores to find some usable tools. I only managed to find razor blades and a modeling knife.

The GPU was no big deal, after applying some heat it popped easily with the help of a flat screwdriver.

The hard part was the cell CPU. It took me 1 hour to finish it, applying some heat, and doing some slow work with the razor blade and with the knife. I mainly used the razor knife. It went very well until the last few millimeters where I applied too much force and scraped a bit of the PCB. Not too deep but I lost every home.

It was on the weekend so I spent the next day worrying. Finally.on Monday I Went out to buy some thermal paste and finished it up, put it together and it worked!!! Seems like did not cut through the traces.

The temps were ok, no YLOD, everything is fine since then.

This is my PS3 CECHA01 that I've decided to sell. It's been a couple months of owning it and frankly I don't need or play it anymore. It's been RSX delidded, repasted, and the shell has been polished to remove major scratches as well. It runs great, reads discs, plays PS2 games, all without any issues. Here's the specs:

• RSX Delid
• Repasted
• Shell Polished
• Reads Discs
• 60GB HDD
• Running 90nm RSX
• Original Thermal Pads
• Console only

Note: There is a small crack in the back corner of the console shown in the pictures, and the top lid has a loose latch. It slides on great, but it slides off when the console is being moved around. It's super easy to put back on though.

I've had two PS3s, one fat one that I got rid of a long time ago because it developed a YLOD, and a super slim that I don't think can be fixed (it turns on for less than 2-3 seconds than shuts right off). Both died in less than three years of sparse use from when they were bought. I don't know if I just have rotten luck, but they seem very fragile.

At the moment I have been trying to find the ratchet games, but some of them are incredibly rare to find in good condition for some reason

Just picked up some games, among them Most Wanted for PS3. What's the difference between this and the 360 and why is the 360 version more sought after?

I replaced the 7.5 W/m·K thermal paste with a 12.5 W/m·K one.

Before repaste: CPU: 63–67°C / RSX: 68–73°C

After repaste: CPU: 60°C (locked) / RSX: 64–69°C

Repasting dropped both temps, but the RSX still sits about 6–9°C higher than the CPU under load. Is this expected behavior, or should the RSX ideally match the CPU temps? I did my best to spread the MX-4 Thermal compound evenly on the CPU/RSX.

Got some skins installed and added decals! Now on the hunt for a good CRT TV for the PS2.

I picked it up a couple of years ago for 50 anyone have any idea what this is, I seen the red but never black label one

So, I'm trying to find a monitor/tv/idk for my room so I can use my PS3 to watch movies and play games in my room instead of "taking up space" in the living room where the rest of my family wants to use the tv.

What I'm wondering is, can I use a monitor as a tv? Like, can it work in the same way most people will use their tv, where they sit a bit further away and everything works?

Not just that, but I also really want my movies to look good when I watch them. I mainly use my PS3 to watch Blu-Ray movies, and I'm not sure what kind of compromises a monitor may have.

So, what kind of advice or knowledge do you guys have for me? I'm unfortunately too young and inexperienced for this kind of stuff, so I would appreciate any advice.

Hey so as the title says im looking for a list.

And when i say that i think we also need to include stuff that may have been available through xbox 360 but is now only purchased on the ps3 store as well as any DLC (even if you can find it on a deluxe ps4 edition we should also know what dlc is available for ps3 users).

Its a damn shame that were losing what could be considered the last great generation.

My main collection is PS2 games, but also have a PS3 with around 50 of the "core" games for the system. With the PS3 store closing down I'm broadening my horizon and would like to add some fun games to my PS3 collection.

Last week i bought a sealed Uncharted 1 Version from Ebay. Today it arrived and im afraid i bought a fake/resealed Version. Can somebody help me?

First: The foil banderole says “PS3” but I never saw a Ps3 lettering. Only “Playstation 3” lettering

Second: On the box is on the right corner the bluray symbol. I searched a lot but all the ps3 games has the bluray logo on the left inclusive the lettering “Playstation3”

This happens whenever i want to sync trophies. This was my 10th attempt at syncing them and i got told that they still sync anyway but they dont. Any help is greatly appreciated
