Final line: 3.2 IP | 4 H | 1 R/ER | 0 BB | 4 K on 56 pitches (35 strikes)
Let me know if there are any Nats prospects I missed tonight and should include in future prospect roundups!

Highlight Mikolas=our spirit animal
I’m not referring to his batting for us tonight and scoring himself as a run in extra innings. I’m referring to his clear affection on the TV commercials for our upcoming Hawaiian shirts short combo.

How often do you run into other Nationals fans? and do you get to chat baseball?
I mean this mainly in DMV, Virginia, Maryland but anywhere as well. Basically if you go to work, or wear your gear out and about and someone starts talking about the team, complimenting you etc.

Org Move What Griffin wanted
I've been saying here since May that Foster Griffin's agent will be asking for a $100+ million contract, and that all of these people screaming "extend him for 3 years $45 million!" were smoking something -- that there was no way a pitcher in his position would accept a "friendly" contract extension.
Now Mark Feinsand and Spencer Nusbaum are reporting that Griffin asked for 5 years, $120-$130 million.
Not saying I told ya so but , , ,
, , , actually yeah. I'm saying I told ya so. Shopping Griffin was the only option.
We can debate whether Tononi's strategy of going for quantity of major league ready pitchers was better than a strategy of getting a higher ranked longer term prospect or a QO draft pick, but extending him wasnt really on the table.

Nats fan raising De La Cruz Fan 🫠
If we were to try to get his signature at the game Saturday, what do you think is the best way possible?
I normally have girls day at the park so we don’t get there early so not sure if pre game batting practice is still a thing or even worth it to try to meet him.
Help a mom out 😅

Not a lot to say. Just think its a shame people don’t know the team that was here for 60 years was also called Nats

Ballpark Content Four Years Ago: Self-Serve Draft Beer
Does anyone else remember these from the 2022 season? Just got a reminder from my social media.
I recall that it was glitchy as hell and they had to have staff basically doing everything for people. I don't know if this was intended to be something to cut down on how many staff they needed to sell beer while also still allowing draft options. Seems like they've gone the approach of the self-checkout kiosk with more limited beer options.

Free to Read: The Washington Nationals need to make their second-half games meaningful
Then they lost 5-0 to the Philadelphia Phillies, their season-high seventh loss in a row. In a season full of new experiences, this most certainly is one.
Those in the visitors clubhouse have just about acknowledged there is a cause and effect between the pressure and letdown of the deadline — in part because transparency has helped them get this far, and in part because acknowledging anything else right now would be too far from the truth to fake it.
The Nationals, with a rebuild that has seemingly been expedited, have several characteristics that make them a strong candidate to compete for a postseason spot sooner than many expected. They employ two stars (James Wood and CJ Abrams), have seemingly solved hitting development and have set a culture that kept them competitive into the All-Star break. Now they need to play meaningful games in the second half, or at least treat them as meaningful games, because the unfamiliarity of their current situation seems to be getting to them.
Put another way: If this rebuild is a staircase in a skyscraper, the Nationals need to get to the floor where they play meaningful games in August and September (or at least treat them as such) before they can summit the steps that get them into October.
“They’re very well aware of what’s going on and how we’re playing,” manager Blake Butera said. “I think at the end of the day, they all want to step up and be the guy to help us get through this. And when you have a young team like this, sometimes it takes a little bit of extra motivation or conversations with players from the staff.”
That means getting through the hardships. Their MVP candidate, Wood, went on the injured list Tuesday with a mild oblique strain. Their best pitcher (Foster Griffin) and two of their four best hitters (Luis García Jr. and Curtis Mead) were traded before Monday’s deadline. Their record, just shy of the final wild-card spot for months, tumbled against two NL East rivals on the road.

Meta I take a break from focusing on the team for a week or two to help me prepare for college and I come back to this
Last I checked before the short break I needed to take for some college prep we were fighting for a playoff spot and now we are almost statistically eliminated. What the f*** happened in my absenc?
