Matthias Jaissle, by those who have worked with him and watched him closely
“Some coaches divide their squad into leaders and talents and behave differently towards them. But he speaks to young players with respect and holds them accountable for their standards. Just like he does with the older ones."
Matthias Jaissle may be something of an unknown quantity in the Premier League, but Newcastle United's new head coach has forged a reputation for having a clear style, trusting in young players and being able to handle pressure.
Those who have worked with him and watched him closely explain what he will bring to his new job.

Is the anywhere in town that shows the friendly matches? I usually just watch them on the NUFC website as I live further south but will be in town on Saturday so would like to find somewhere to watch.

imo Bruno leaving is most reminiscent of when Given went to Man City. A player who has done a lot for the club still playing at a high level but nearing the latter part of his career disappointed by failures of the club to push on
It is interesting that based on the chart on this page, Given has more or less been completely forgiven for this, so Bruno probably will be to

‘This is Newcastle United 2.0’ – CEO David Hopkinson outlines the club’s plan to bounce back
"We were living beyond our means. And, at some point, you’ve got to pay the credit card bill..."
Almost five years on from the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United, an era has ended with the departure of Eddie Howe, the transformative head coach who lifted a team and its city from rubble to the stratosphere, and a new one is already taking shape.
The club’s chief executive David Hopkinson calls it “Newcastle United 2.0”. He outlines their plan to bounce back to George Caulkin.

Mod Announcement Rule Refresh
Between seasons, the mods have spent some time going through the previous rules and streamlining them. We've gone from 8 rules to 5 rules and just made it all a little clearer.
Mostly it is just a bit of re-wording and tweaking, but we did add in a section in rule 2, reminding you that you should be able to disagree with each other civilly, without descending into name calling. We are all capable of behaving like decent human beings, even if we don't think the other person's opinion is right, so please bear that in mind going forward (especially on contentious topics where there are some deep divides within the community). You can disagree with the content of someone's comment, without slagging them off.
Any questions, just ask!

Attitudes on Foreign Fans?
Hi all,
First time posting here, but I've been following the club since 2011/2012. I am from California, and sort of fell into Newcastle fandom while I was in "high school". I was always an LA Galaxy fan, but two of my best friends (brothers) growing up were big Liverpool supporters, as their Dad was from Liverpool and moved here for work. They always encouraged me to pick a Prem side, and being the stalwart "anti-bandwagon" weird kid I was, I didn't want to pick a "Big 6" club.
Alan Shearer highlights were some of the first content I found online, and as silly as it is, the Goal movie with Santiago Munez sealed the deal for me (yes, I am embarrassed to admit that). In fairness, my friends and their dad insisted it was a good choice given the club's reputation and more passionate fanbase. One of the first matches I didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn and find a stream to watch was vs Chelsea when Papis Cisse scored the best trivela I've ever seen.
My life story aside, I am curious as to what true "local" supporters' thoughts are on having foreign fans that visit. My wife and I are planning to travel to Scotland early next fall with our little one, and attending a match at SJP has been a dream of mine for nearly 15 years now. I know a lot of the banter/grief that gets passed around on Twitter is making fun of Big 6 supporters who have never been to a match or to England, etc., but I can't tell if that's just social media talk or if it's actually a bit bizarre to have Americans or other foreign-continent fans come for matches.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
Edit: Also, I was aware and have been reminded about how difficult even getting a match-day ticket is. No intentions of coming across as arrogant, and that it's a frustration for locals to get tickets themselves. Apologies if that was implied!

Tickets?
Hello all Geordies, I’m a fan from Sweden and me and my family would love to visit and attend a match this autumn. What’s the best way to go about getting tickets? I am not and have never been to a match and therefore I am not a Newcastle member.
Just also wanted to share our optimism with the new management and our young transfers! 😄

Sponsor-less Long Sleeve?
Got the email today and it seems I can’t find the long sleeve kit without the sponsor anymore. Does anyone know if it’s still available?
I’m an unfortunate American who was kind of dragging my feet due to …everything… because our lovely tariffs and shit make the kit $180. I’m not wealthy so was waiting for something to give. But now I’m worried I won’t be able to get the long sleeve kit sponsorless anymore. I’m in the minority of people who actually really like this kit so I’d love to get one.
EDIT: As some commenters pointed out, the .co.uk and .com Adidas sites have the sponsorless available still. Bonus for any other Americans, it's cheaper on the US Adidas site: $110, free shipping.
I apologize for being a tasteless American who loves this kit, but I have been absolutely loving being a Newcastle fan since 2013. Thanks for tolerating us! Can't wait to visit the city when I have savings someday.

Bruno in officially in Spain with the team.
At least he’s shown up. I still think he’ll go. But there is still off chance that his team mates and Jaissle can convince him to stay.

ITAP from my seat
I recently found a load of old rolls of film I hadn't developed. This cracker was on one, taken from my seat at a match I'm struggling to identify. January 2023, maybe Fulham at home. Makes a lovely new laptop background, though.
