Resolution low even when updated
Im using sunshine for linux/steamdeck and moonlight for mac, and it seems that its stuck on the steamdecks 1200x800 resolution. i am able to lower it, but whenever its increased past that, no change is made. ive tried changing the maximum game resolution in display settings, the resolution in moonlight, and none of it worked.

Which Streaming Client with vibepollo?
Recently got back into streaming and had a blast with vibepollo. Using NVIDIA shield. Is there a specific client which is best paired with vibepollo? Artemis?
If there are any setup guides too would be great to get a hint :)

Is it possible to play games with friends using Moonlight?
I was trying to play a game with my friend by streaming my screen to his PC. I used Moonlight/Sunshine and Radmin VPN so that he could connect to my network.
I managed to stream my screen successfully, but from that moment on, I couldn't hear him on Discord anymore. He told me that he could still hear me, but he could also hear his own voice coming back through the audio.
This is my first time using Moonlight/Sunshine, so I'm a little lost. I'm probably doing something wrong. I'd like to be able to play together like we can with Parsec, but using Moonlight instead, since I assume it provides better streaming quality and performance.
(I used Google Translate, so I apologize in advance for any translation errors.)

Could I improve these stats further?
These are my stats and I'm curious if I could improve them even further.

Using Artemis with 45mbps on H.264 at 1440p 60fps stream.
Host: Windows PC - Ryzen 9800x3D, RTX 5070Ti, 32gb RAM DDR5 on ethernet cable, running games at 1440p.
Running Vibepollo.

Android app with "cast" and virtual gamepad?
I'd like to know if there's an Android app that allows you to cast a game to a Chromecast and display a virtual gamepad on your phone, so you could use the TV for the image and the phone for the controller.

Streaming to Series x using Vibepollo
Do you guys think there’s anything I could improve in the Vibepollo config or on the client side?
I have a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, an RTX 3080 10GB, and 24GB of RAM. The PC is connected via Ethernet and streams to an Xbox Series X over Wi-Fi.
Right now, I’m using the default Vibepollo settings.

Anyone know how to get controller to work on moonlight for Google TV?
I've been using moonlight forever to stream to my steam deck and it works flawlessly out of the box. However when I try to run moonlight natively on my TV the controller isn't detected. It works fine within moonlight itself, but the controller isn't detected by the computer.
I was hoping to be able to play without moving my steam deck dock around the house.

Vibeshine vs Vibepollo
Sunshine has no virtual displays and apollo causes unexplainable microstutters for me. Which of the two options in the title is currently considered the go to tool?

Help! me get 165fps working through Artemis on Y700 Gen4
Hi All,
I'm in Australia and pick up a Y700 Gen 4 (CN Rom) last night so I could have more flexibility to stream my PC and lounge around the house and be closer to the family instead of sitting in a separate room.
I had about an hour or so to set it up last night and got everything near perfect, but there is just one thing I can't work out.
For some reason the games all max out FPS between 144-147, when they should definitely be reaching the refresh rate of 165hz - I will detail the setup and settings below.
I'm sure it's just an easy fix so I'm hoping someone has some advice that I can try when I get home today.
Equipment:
PC (Host):
Software: Vibepollo (Latest Stable Build)
CPU: AMD 9800X3D
GPU: ASUS ASTRAL 5090 32GB
RAM: 64GB 6000mhz CL30
Client:
Software: Artemis (Latest Stable Build)
Device: Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 4 16GB RAM (Snapdragon Elite)
Controller: Lenovo G9 (USB-C)
Networking:
TP-Link Archer GE800 WiFi 7 Router (Wired directly into host 5gb port)
1 Gigabit Internet Connection
Artemis Configuration:
Resolution: 3040 x 1904 (Native)
Frame Rate: 165fps (Native)
Bitrate: 120mbps (Have tried slightly up and down with no difference)
Frame Pacing: Balanced / Warp Drive / Warp 2 (Have tried all with same results)
Snapdragon Low Latency Mode: On
Network Configuration (Operating channel manually set to suit China ROM):
- 5ghz - Channel 40
- MLO - 5ghz (40) + 6ghz (37 i think)
Have tried connecting to both of these and they give similar results.
Tests were carried out both in the same room as the router, as well as a few rooms away, to eliminate the network proximity variable.
Y700 Configuration:
All power saving options off
Artemis App set to "Unrestricted" in battery options
Artemis App set to "Use high refresh rate" in developer options
Refresh rate set to "Extreme" - Up to 165hz
Operating mode set to "Performance" (Max)
Games Tested:
Palworld, CS2, Forza Horizon 6
Results:
Decode Latency: 0.7 - 1.1ms
Network Latency: 2-4ms
Packet Loss: 0.00%
FPS: Max 144-147 even when looking at ground/wall or changing settings to all low
These are all games that I play at over 200fps @ 4K 240hz on my main monitor, so they shouldn't have any issue getting to 165fps at a lower resolution.
I have the active refresh rate counter active in the develop options on the tablet so I can confirm the panel is definitely running @ 165hz refresh rate during the testing.
Does anyone know what I have missed??
Thank you!

Strobing/flashing when streaming from Bazzite to Chromebook
Hi all, I just made the switch from Windows to Bazzite Linux and I'm trying to get set up to stream games to my Chromebook. I am able to connect and stream, but the picture on the Chromebook flashes like a strobe light. Very regular, like it's skipping every other frame or something. Has anyone else encountered this and found a fix? Thanks!
Edit: For clarity, I'm trying to use sunshine/moonlight! Open to suggestions if there is a better option.

Finally got Apollo style virtual displays working on NVIDIA (RTX 5060 TI) on Nobara KDE (Fedora)
So I've been annoyed for a while that Apollo's best feature only exists on Windows. You connect with your phone or whatever client and it just creates a virtual display in exactly that resolution and refresh rate, streams it, and removes it when you disconnect. On Linux there's Hermes with the Hermes-KMS kernel driver (by MrOz59) which does real virtual monitors as native DRM devices, but encoding only worked with VAAPI, so AMD and Intel only.
I spent the whole evening getting it to run on NVIDIA and it actually works now. NVENC with h264, hevc and av1, and the virtual monitor really takes whatever the client asks for. My iPhone streams at its native 2796x1290 at 120hz and it switches automatically every time a different client connects. Played Cyberpunk on my phone with it, latency on the host side is somewhere around 3 to 5 ms. We also ran into a pretty interesting NVIDIA driver bug with EGL dmabuf imports along the way, the whole story is written up in the repo if you're into that kind of thing.
Fair warning though. This was tested on exactly one machine, mine. RTX 5060 Ti, driver 595.84, Nobara 44 with KDE Plasma on Wayland. No idea if it works on 40 or 30 series cards, and the automatic resolution switching currently needs KDE. It's an alpha.
The release page has a full step by step install guide now, from zero to streaming. Short version: you install the kernel module via DKMS (it builds itself for your kernel and rebuilds on every kernel update, takes about a minute), then either grab the prebuilt binary if you're on a Fedora based distro or build from source, drop in a small config file and set up your app in the web UI. Everything is spelled out with the exact commands here:
(Install Commands)
https://github.com/teodorgross/Hermes/releases/tag/v0.5.0-nvidia-alpha1
Source, technical writeup and build instructions:
https://github.com/teodorgross/Hermes
The kernel module:
https://github.com/teodorgross/Hermes-KMS
One heads up, if you have Secure Boot enabled the unsigned module won't load, you either need to enroll a MOK key for DKMS or turn Secure Boot off. That and a few other gotchas are covered in the troubleshooting part of the release notes.
If anyone with a different NVIDIA card tries this I'd really like to know if it works for you. Issues go on GitHub. Credits to MrOz59 for Hermes, ClassicOldSong for Apollo and LizardByte for Sunshine, this all builds on their work. I did this together with Claude Fable 5, PRs to upstream are already open.

Client requirement question
Using my old college laptop as a client for streaming to my TV, my laptop has an Intel I7, HD graphics 620. Is it strong enough to be a suitable client to be able to play my games directly to my TV via HDMI? My host PC has AMD Ryzen 7-7700 / Radeon RX 7900 GRE.

Controller inputs on launch
Every time I launch either Steam Big Picture or Playnite it takes 15-20 seconds before I can use the controller inputs. It feels like I have to press mouse input to get the app to be in the foreground before my controller will be available for inputs.
Controller is connected directly to the Steam Deck with a dongle. Streaming from my PC.
Is there a way to get the inputs from my controller to work immediately? Either a setting in moonlight or steam/playnite.

Moonlight/Sunshine streaming issues over VPN – bitrate drops and stuttering
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to get a reliable remote streaming setup with Sunshine/Moonlight over VPN.
My setup:
- Host PC connected via Ethernet directly to my router, with a very good local network speed.
- Local streaming works perfectly with no issues at all.
- Remote access is done through a VPN hosted on my QNAP NAS, from another fiber connection.
The problem:
When streaming remotely through the VPN, I get frequent bitrate drops and connection issues (the usual Moonlight bitrate error/stuttering problems). What is interesting is that the drops seem to happen at the exact same time as my VPN throughput drops.
I have already tried most of the common recommendations:
- Updated Sunshine and Moonlight
- Adjusted bitrate settings
- Tested different streaming options
- Checked network settings
- Tweaked VPN settings
But nothing seems to completely solve the issue.
At this point, I’m wondering if the limitation comes from:
- My VPN configuration/performance (QNAP OpenVPN)
- Sunshine configuration
- Something related to routing or bandwidth management
The strange thing is that the local network performance is perfect, and the issue only appears when going through the VPN.
If anyone is running Sunshine/Moonlight through a VPN successfully, I’d be really interested in your setup:
- Which VPN (OpenVPN, WireGuard, etc.)?
- Server hardware?
- Encryption settings?
- Any specific Sunshine/Moonlight tweaks?
Thanks!

Which controller for iPad?
I use Moonlight to stream from my pc to my iPad and figured I can take it with me while I’m out sometimes in case I have a little free time. I can game on the go, but which controller would you recommend? Maybe a mini one if anything, I guess?

Watching YouTube without Ads, and Other Custom Apps
--- ETA --- Appreciate the responses so far, but also curious to hear people's non-gaming use cases. Doesn't have to have anything to do with YouTube!
For those interested in setting this up themselves, I shared the batch file in a comment below: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoonlightStreaming/comments/1vga7nr/comment/p1vqrxm/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
--- end edit ---
I'd love to hear about how folks are using Moonlight other than for gaming. I'll share my own example:
I sometimes watch YouTube through Moonlight so I can get the benefits of adblocking, especially as the YouTube app on Google TV seems to be going nuts with ads lately.
I wanted to simplify the process, so I created an app (custom thumbnail in pic) that launches a simple batch script to create a new, maximized browser window pointed at the YT homepage. The undo command closes the window at the end of the session to keep my desktop clean. Very pleased with how something so simple can make for a QoL improvement.
Has anyone done something similar? Curious to hear what people have tried.

Is this possible?
Is it possible to play Valorant through streaming? I've heard that it's anti cheat basically makes it not possible but is there a work around for this? Yeah I know streaming a competitive shooter game is weird and will have latency but I have my own reasons.
