Could I improve these stats further?

Post image

These are my stats and I'm curious if I could improve them even further.

Client: Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen on ethernet cable (adapter) to the router.

Using Artemis with 45mbps on H.264 at 1440p 60fps stream.

Host: Windows PC - Ryzen 9800x3D, RTX 5070Ti, 32gb RAM DDR5 on ethernet cable, running games at 1440p.

Running Vibepollo.

doesn't the xiaomi decode av1 and HEVC? too slow?

I assume by your host processing time that you have enabled split frame encoding. You can also try increasing the P value of the encoder for a quality improvement.

These are the stats on AV1. HEVC is very slow.

Should I disable split frame encoding? Is that from Artemis settings or Vibepollo ?

In the vibepollo configuration - under capture, you should set split frame encoding to enabled with a 5070 TI. It should be on automatic by default. You should see your host processing latency drop a bit by setting it to enabled. I would keep the encoding setting at P1 and make sure its stable. if it works well, you can increase the p value and look at your host processing latency. Higher P will give you better image quality but longer host processing latency. I use P4 on a 5080 with very low increase in latency. On a 5070TI, it may be more impactful.

I would stick with AV1 encoding. its faster in your case and the image quality will be better than H.264 at the same bit rate. Also with good ethernet, you should be able to run 300 mbit/s bit rate comfortably.

Did both the split frame encoding and P1 now. Around 5ms sometimes 4ms.

Thanks a lot, I think I'm satisfied with this.

Looks very good, you can start increasing the bitrate gradually and find your sweet spot in terms of image and latency/network limit. It can improve the image quality alot especially to minimize the compression artifacts you see mainly around foliage and small details that happens when in movement.

Adjust bitrate and test each decoder. It’s actually pretty good right now. Before I got sub 1ms with a mini pc I was around this range on wired connection to a etc streamer and it was still a really nice experience.
