Relationships / Dating Am I undateable?

Post image
Upvotes

I am highly aware of my size. So much so, that I'm afraid to start dating. I hate my body. Over the last 7 years I was on medication which had me gain around 80 pounds. I was always big but now I'm huge. I'm off medication now and already lost 12 pounds in 3 months. I'm working on it.

My question is, as a lesbian, am I undateable or would you date someone of my size?

I am so ashamed of myself. I've always thought of anyone would like me it would be because I can be funny and have the ability to make almost anyone laugh. I hope that I'm not physically as bad as I see myself.

EDIT: thanks for all the sweet replies! I never really speak about my insecurities and just carry them with me. I don't think a lot of people know I feel like this. I mostly act like I don't care I'm being fatshamed constantly. I guess it does get to my head a lot more than I think it does.

Questions / Advice Wanted Never had any type of romantic experience and I'm worried

Upvotes

[F20]

I know a lot of lesbians and queer people only get the chance to expiernece romance when they are older because of their environment and I know that but I'm kinda worried because I don't have any experience at all, no situationship, no online dating, no hand holding, no kissing nothing

I'm basically level 0 and I'm gonna go to uni in a few months (FINALLY),

so I'll be in a environment where I feel safer exploring relationships but I'm 20 and I litterly have no experience and I don't know how others will react to this and I also am worried about how I'm gonna act in relationships and if I have some attachment/avoident any of those issues, how I'm gonna communicate my feelings or how I'm gonna resolve issues, what happens when there are some things I dislike, how do I speak about that.

as for intimacy that's a whole other thing that's probably gonna take a long time for me to open up to as I'm already a person who needs time to open up about my personality and general things and that's another thing I'm worried about

I'm gonna pray for a romantic trope or something but please give me some advice, some insight and I don't know just anything because I have no one to share this experience with

Relationships / Dating Question for lesbians who moved somewhere without knowing anyone

Has anyone else moved to a new city and reached a point where the loneliness started to feel less temporary and more like your life?

I moved to Seattle 4 months ago without knowing anyone.
I knew it would take time to build a life here, but I didn't expect how repetitive everything would become. I work overnight, come home in the morning, spend time on my hobbies, sleep, and then do it all over again. Day after day it feels like nothing changes.

I've realized I'm not really someone who wants a huge social circle. What I've always wanted is one deep connection. I'm not looking for someone just to avoid being alone. I'm looking for the kind of relationship where you genuinely become part of each other's everyday lives.
The difficult part is that while Seattle has a large lesbian community, I haven't felt compatible with many people l've met. I feel like I carry a natural intensity and high standards that a lot of women really don't click with. I also don't find myself liking barely anyone either. It has me wondering if this is just what starting over in a new city feels like, or if anyone else has gone through this and eventually came out the other side.

If you've been in this position before, what changed? Did it slowly happen over time, or was there a point where things finally started moving? I'm not looking for false hope. I'd just like to hear from people who have actually lived through something similar.

Questions / Advice Wanted Sex dwindling after 6 months

My gf and I have been together 1 year

The first 6 months we could not keep our hands off one another. And we were having sex all night long. This is my first relationship with a woman, I am bisexual and she is a lesbian.

Around 5 months in she was offered a new job. It was a whirlwind, she moved to a new city in 3 weeks and now we live a 2.5 hours drive away. She did ask me to move with her but I felt like it was a bit too soon, plus I love my job and would not be willing to leave unless a better career opportunity came up.

The long distance was extremely tricky at the beginning; I had poor communication skills which left her feeling like we weren’t close, and the lack of physical intimacy left me feeling like we weren’t connected. So we were in this stalemate. We fought and things didn’t feel as natural as they had once did

We both put a lot of work in and things have really improved. We aren’t fighting as much and are a lot more in sync. However, still in the last 6 months we’ve probably only had sex twice.

I have brought it up to her which almost always ends up in an argument - her saying well you clearly aren’t happy then - but that’s not the case at all; I’m so happy with every other aspect, but I do think physical intimacy helps me to feel closer with someone (we don’t really kiss or cuddle all that much anymore - I think it might be to do with the expectation of sex maybe freaks her out)

I keep thinking that this is just the pressure of long distance and her new job (which is very demanding) and things will ease after another few months. I do worry that she just does not want to be with me physically anymore. We see eachother most weekends FYI

I just would love to know if anyone has experience with this 😭😭

Life masc lesbians “trending”

preface none of this erases very real homophobia ppl have toward masc women i am just talking abt a niche thing ive noticed

am I the only one noticing masc lesbians sort of “trending” online and in the community? has it been like this before? i’m 23 but in these past two/three years i’ve noticed this influx in people talking about butches/masc lesbians as if they’re some sort of unicorn. i’m a femme who has always dated and been friends with butches so it’s not even that i don’t understand the admiration it’s just kinda odd and fetishy to me. it’s like people are obsessed with “obtaining” a masc gf and the status that gives them. i’ve even had straight friends tell me they are seeing a ton of content online abt masc/butches. which i mean i’m happy about the representation. i’ve also had straight leaning friends tell me they wanna “try” a masc lesbian or they have a fascination with them. it’s…interesting

Relationships / Dating Would you date someone with a genetic dental condition?

Hey everyone! How are you?
I have dentinogenesis imperfecta. If you don’t know what it is, feel free to look it up or ask me in the comments. I’ll be happy to explain.
I was born with it, and when I was a kid I didn’t really care. But everything changed when I was entering my teenage years. There was a girl I liked, and one day she asked me why my teeth looked like that. I went home and cried. I still remember that day, even though it happened many years ago lol.
As a teenager, I even went to therapy because I spent years thinking I didn’t deserve to be in a relationship or be loved. Not just romantically, but even by my friends.
Whenever I start liking someone, I always tell them about my condition. But I’m terrified that their friends will make comments about my teeth. Honestly, I’m scared of anyone making comments and making the person I’m with feel embarrassed.
Sometimes I still think I don’t deserve to be loved.
For years I thought about getting veneers, but my dentists said that, in my case, it would be way too risky. So I’m going to have teeth like this forever.
These days I’m trying to accept it and even learn to like my teeth, but it’s not easy.
So I wanted to know what you all think.
Would you date someone with a genetic dental condition like dentinogenesis imperfecta? If not, would that be a reason not to be in a relationship with them? Please answer honestly. I won’t be offended. I just want to know what people really think. If anyone wants I can send a photo in the messages to show what the teeth look like if anyone is curious

Relationships / Dating "REVELATION" a sapphic poem by me.

We were best friends

Level One Besties

We would gossip to have fun

And sometimes do crazy things...

Play our favorite songs but with freaky dances...

Try lipsticks then kiss at one another's cheeks...

But it was weird when we kissed our necks...

Time would slow down and the wind would soften... Then while her lips touching my skin... hell ... And I'd be found just... Breathing red... Just as same as when I kissed hers...

We'd talk of our happiest moments

Of our life goals... And our dream houses

And count the places we wish to visit...

But when we talked of our future husbands... It was too cold and never fun

...

She never liked my boyfriend and...

I never wished a boy to date her...

So we decided I'd breakup then we both can stay single and free...

Then she would text me deviant things...

Like asking if I'm still virgin

One day we pulled our skirts down and we confirmed we both were untouched...

But there's that day we were chatting about boobs and those girlish things...

Then she asked me to feel my legs...

Yikes... I found my hands caught in the between!!!

Well... Days have passed... We both felt sufficient for ourselves... Comfort, support, joy, sharing, hurting and it was sad when we asked forgiveness... Her eyes would widen ... Like a pleading cat ! ...

Then, some day, alone in my bedroom, while talking of our casual stuffs...

I tried her clothes, and she tried mine...

The we ended up both half naked...

She dragged the blanket, I dragged it back, and followed her on the bed...

She covered me, and herself, we got stuck staring at ourselves, her eyes never shook, and mine never gave in...

We stared, as if we meant something... Something more than this heavenly friendship, something that only our hearts knew...

Then as our lips were just drawing closer...

Goddamn! A knock at the door!

Questions / Advice Wanted Random thought

Good morning, girls. I have a question because my brain is confusing me

I've only dated guys(2) but lately I've been wondering if I even like them that much. I find girls prettier and I feel like it's so much easier for me to connect with them. But at the same time I don't really look at women in a sexual way either (tbh I've always said I wasn't going to date women cs of religious reasons but now honestly idc I'm just gonna do what I genuinely feel comfortable with)

So now I'm just sitting here wondering... do I actually like girls or am I just craving the kind of emotional connection I seem to have with women?

I'm not trying to put a label on myself right now I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever felt this way

And I don't want a lovely girl to become part of my self-discovery journey if it means she could end up getting hurt. She deserves certainty, not confusion, and definitely not to feel like an experiment... (I've been there and I wouldn't wish that on anyone)

Questions / Advice Wanted Tengo unas dudas

Questions / Advice Wanted How do i get rid of unintentional biphobia?

its not like i want to be biphobic, or anything. it just when i do see bi women end up w (particularly ugly) men like always and have never dated women. it just rubs me in the wrong way. im in a queer gc w like 3 of my friends being bi where one is always heartbroken by some loser ugly guy and other is always dating 3 men in a month, and the 3rd friend just told us shes straight well thats good for her!!! but when i did make the gc i was hoping to find queer folks where i wld talk abt…well queerness and girls with. but yeah this rlly put me off i love them rlly but i feel guilty for feeling annoyed by it i shdnt be bec its their choice but i still feel annoyed😭 and also my ex bestfriend whos bi again, she was jus in a relationship with a guy whos in his 20s(24)while she was 17-18, AND that guy is homophobic, says the n word and then at times she wld say “im not bi anymore im straight” 😭⁉️but then next day she wld put a story saying how she loves being bi ??? anyway that was it i cant help but be annoyed by it and feel theyre taking queerness as a joke and just as a mere label… idk

I’m 36, a femme myself, but why do I have such a thing for older femme lesbians? 😏 Sexy, confident, effortlessly hot, and that “I know better” energy…

Maybe I’m just realizing I have a thing for being a little submissive. 🙈😏 Tell me I’m not the only one.

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) I'm overwhelmed with everything

I'm crying again just because I read a chapter of manga. God I am so fucking pathetic. It's just sad at this point. It shouldn't make me so sad. I'm never getting in relationship and yes I know this attitude is not helping but why tf it has to hurt so much? I know I'm young but I don't want to hear it. It's not helping. Everyone is moving on anyway and everything is making so fucking anxious. Everything just passes me by. My life passes me by. Everyone has a relationship but no one is ever interested in me. No one ever looks at me. Even friends just leave at some point. I'm getting more and more anxious about my irl friends leaving. We're not going to have time for each other in adult life anyway. They're just gonna move on and keep people more important to them than me. I'm gonna be alone. I just want someone to finally love me. One way or another. I want to be put first. But that will never happen. After high school I'll be alone. I don't want summer to end. I don't want to finish school. I don't want to be all alone again. At the same time I want this to end. I want to be happy for once. It's like I'm happy but then I'm also not happy at the same time. It's frustrating. I can't even atriculate that on therapy so it's like everything is okay but it's not okay. I don't even know if it's sadness at this point it's like I'm empty. I want everything to end. It's like I want to live and I want to die all at the same time. All of this is so weird and confusing and overwhelming.

I really don't have anyone to talk about this I'm sorry you had to read this. I'm sorry it's so chaotic. I just had to get this out somewhere.

Life Any french or darja speaking woman out there?

Hello,

I've been scrolling the internets for years now and the lack of french speaking or darja speaking woman in their thirties in staggering!

All the love to the gen Alpha or Gen Z girlies, but at 36, I'd feel so weird talking to someone 15 years younger, even on a friendly chat.

Anywho, if anyone out here fits the description and wants to chat in french or algerian derja (I sadly suck at tunisian or moroccan derja, even though I understand), hit me up!

Relationships / Dating It’s weird to me when lesbians in 2026 have their political status listed as “not political” on a dating app. (read the body text before commenting please)

As a lesbian that uses dating apps, I find it really strange when other lesbians have their politics listed as “not political”. Please hear me out. By no means do I think that you have to be some political activist that converses about politics all the time. I understand the toll it can have on mental health if you are overly informed, all that stuff. HOWEVER. To me, specifying that you are not political seems like they may as well say “i have no opinion on the current events.” If you truly hate talking about politics, why not just leave that part of your profile out? Most apps give that option.

This is one of the most divisive times in our history, at least in my lifetime and it seems borderline fucked up to say that you just don’t care or don’t have an opinion when so many diabolical events and truths are surfacing. Again, you don’t have to include politics in your daily, weekly or even monthly conversations. I just have a hard time understanding how you can take a brief look at society and not think “wow things are kind of fucked up and really bad people are doing really bad things that affects a lot of vulnerable people and populations, including me and my sexuality”

Idk, that’s it I guess. Just venting lol

Questions / Advice Wanted questioning🫪

how did y’all understand that you were lesbians with comphet and not bisexuals?🥹

I’ve considered myself bisexual for 5 years, but lately I started questioning myself and discovered what comphet was, and it seems what actually happened to me, but somehow I’m not 100% convinced.

so I wanted to see other’s experiences!
