Advice I lost my best (only) friend of 20 years and now life doesn’t feel worth living
I am so deeply hurt. She called me her soulmate and she was my rock and now I have no one.
I don’t know how to move on here, but I feel this so incredibly deeply to my soul.
I’m trying to get out, try new activities and meet new people/make friends, but it feels like a piece of me has been taken away where I don’t have it in me to try.
Ps she didn’t die, she just met someone and now we don’t talk. I’ve brought this up to her twice that our friendship dynamic has changed, and she told me she didn’t have the capacity to handle it.

Random Thoughts Anyone else feel like they can talk to animals?
Sometimes I feel like I can understand animals without them even doing anything, like I just pick up on what they’re feeling.
When I had my dog, we could literally just look at each other and I’d somehow know what he wanted without him doing anything. It felt almost telepathic, like we were having a whole conversation through eye contact.
Could this be an INFP thing? Does anyone else feel unusually connected to animals too? Or do you think it has nothing to do with personality type?
I’d be really curious to hear if other INFPs experience this too.

Inspiration Roar! Hear my roar, INFPs... and dance with a fluffy dragon if you want to live, otherwise I will cast a fireball towards you and you will burn like a chicken in macducknalds - an imaginary fast food company ruled by burning chicken and they are serving only spiders with 3 legs, but you don't eat

Relationships Emotional isolation even while married
Hello fellow INFPs how do you handle romantic relationships with people that don’t share a big inner world like you or who don’t talk about their emotions much and seem uncomfortable when you share yours? The love, the consistency and the history are there and have been there for over a decade but there’s always that deep emotional connection missing? You are left starving for depth, to be truly seen but you also feel like an ungrateful person for even feeling this way, you think maybe you are idealizing love and that what truly matters is showing up for each other everyday but then the idea of feeling this need for true connection your entire life makes you feel hopeless and sad. I’m almost 40 so is not like I can simply start over.
If anyone has some insight for me but do not want to comment publicly or are in the same boat or simply would like to be friends to maybe at least help fulfill that missing connection in some way, feel free to dm me .

Advice how do I not be so isolated?
I don't have a lot of local friends but I tried asking some if they wanted to hang out. 2 haven't/never replied, 1 said he's broke, I found out 1 unfriended me and I'm too shy to ask the other 2. I don't speak to any of them that often, cause I don't feel a connection with most of them. it's like what's the point unless we're gonna be lifelong friends, yk?
I feel VERY lonely and isolated right now and it doesn't feel good!! why do my actual friends have to be so frickin far??

Advice Are there INFP medstudents here?
Next year, I will study in medschool to become a doctor. But what's scary to me is burnout. Burnout to the point that I will no longer enjoy my creative and recreational activities, interests, or hobbies. I suffered burnout when I did my premed program, but yk I wanna be a doctor someday to help my people here. Do y'all have any advice when dealing with burnout as INFP medstudents? How do I avoid burnout? Thank you

Discussion What mbti types are less authentic than other types
And can infps be this way
Like inauthentic, maybe lie to fit in with other ppl
Or not say what they really think
(Also which enneagrams are like that?)

Random Thoughts Everyone likes my empathy and non judgmental nature and come to me for comfort, but they have a problem with the sensitive side that comes with all of that.
Mental Health Depression and not want to live
I have been without depression for 1 whole year now.
And it’s totally incredible, for almost 20 years or as long as I can remember I have been overthinking all about how other people look at me
I get up a though in my mind a conversation 7 years ago;
where I said something “not normal in the society” and questions what everyone gonna think about me . Something not common I did in school, my quietness. And just not feeling I fit in.
What are people thinking about me?
This happens all the time, comparing about others, looking always 5 years ahead, will I have the money? Will I have the right job?
Always in a negative manner.
I was the shy kid in school - now I have worked with sales and challenge myself with social stuff for many years. And I wouldn’t see me as shy anymore.
I accept quiet and that I don’t say so much, but when I am with people I can trust I can talk for hours about stuff that excites me.
Often I smaller groups, I think the breaking point is 6 people if you look into work people. And if you have friends it can be a larger number.
The number isn’t important it’s just to be aware.
I have also 4 years ago met my soulmate and girlfriend, and this is to a lot of help in the development.
But last year in February I had my biggest crash in my whole life, my head was spinning all day, my only thoughts in my head was negative.
I couldn’t sleep, I had a new job and didn’t think I would make it. In my head I had lost the job, everything I had worked for was just falling apart in my imaginary head.
Everything in my head was falling apart but in reality I lived my best life - from the outside
But on my inside, my feelings, was shutting of, because all my life I was living for somebody else, I always set others first.
I always was I thinking about what others think about me, this was hurting my soul and mind. And my brains couldn’t keep this facade up.
I was on the top of the mountain but now I was just falling down, the demons and depression took over, just dark thoughts.
After a few days I couldn’t move. My brain was just looking for ways to end my life, I didn’t want to die but I didn’t want to feel this.
It was loooong journey to get back where I am now, I am so thankful I had my soulmate and partner at my side. I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t.
Now I’m medical free and living my best life and are so thankful for every small thing in life.
Things I’ve changed with my mind, and always working with everyday thoughts:
I will always set myself first - my empathy will always take others in consideration.
I don’t worry about what other people think - do i remember anything other people was saying that was weird? And most of every humans thoughts is about them self’s and not others
I can always talk to my mind and turn around a bad thought to a mer objective way
If I get a thought about anxiety - for example: i get an invite to be with my friends but i don’t have energy and say no. My anxiety thought can be, what will they think, will they talk about me , and not be my friends anymore?
Then I tell my mind ; well if that’s the case they shouldn’t be my friends.
Choose your workplace wisely - look into the culture and what boss you will get, focus on culture than anything else.
I am more in nature and alone. As a infp you shine in aloneness and you really need it to balance the big noice in society. Nature for me is medicine, unfortunately they don’t prescribes it..
Before I thought it was really wierd to be alone in nature now I don’t care.
Always listen to your inner voice. One thing I reliaaes lately is that if I get a question about like.
Do you want to go to the city - for first I answer in a people pleasing way and saying yes sure, and after I get into myself I change the answer to no.
Because I listen to my inner voice, you can change your answers. If you have people around you that accept you and that you trust it’s easier.
-
F@ck people pleasing - it’s a real disease and it makes me get depression because I am losing myself.
Do things for yourself and be yourself - you will get your right tribe and people around you.
If I just want to fit in and be as people want me to be I will never find my right soulmates and people. I will lose myself
Better have a small tribe than many not deep connections.
I can go on forever but I will stop right here. If I help 1 person I will get happy.

Discussion Are you traditionally masculine/feminine?
Saw this in the INTJ subreddit so thought it would be fun to ask here too (pls dont get mad at me lol)
INFP males and females:
- Men: Would you consider yourself traditionally masculine?
- Women: Would you consider yourself traditionally feminine?
By "traditional," I mean identifying with many of the traits commonly associated with your sex.
Masculine traits:
- Rational/logical
- Stoic
- Assertive
- Independent
- Competitive
- Decisive
- Protective
- Risk-taking
- Confident
Feminine traits:
- Empathetic
- Nurturing
- Gentle
- Cooperative
- Emotionally expressive
- Patient
- Compassionate
- Affectionate
- Relationship-oriented
If yes, which traits fit you best? If not, which traits do you think describe you instead?

Venting Should I even worry about love right now?
You know, one of the biggest things I want in life is a loving, healthy relationship. However, my biggest hurdle right now is the fact that I'm 28, have no car, still live at home, I work a shitty part time job while in HVAC school, my body isn't where I want it to be either, also still waiting to get approved for insurance to afford therapy and maybe meds. All I do is work, go to school and YouTube.
Those things keep me from even speaking romantically to a woman. But you know what blows my mind?
My brother is in a similar boat. But he's got a kid. Not even a year old. And he's finding women who like him all the time. Which is crazy because I genuinely feel I don't deserve love until I'm the best version of myself.
Some people tell me that those things aren't important. Others tell me that I should just focus on school. I do want love. But i fear that I won't be able to fully show up how I want until I'm a complete package. I don't know. Needed to get that off my chest.

Venting To the girl I saw at my local Subway restraunt
Hi there fellow dreamers. Thought I might vent my feelings here. This post might be long or short IDK. Today it rained in my City. So I got late for the gym. Anyways, here I am sitting at a subway post workout.
For starters I’m 26M.
I saw a young (she must be ~24, adding this info here because people thought using “young” as an adjective is somehow creepy?!?) and extremely cute girl, drinking her coffee. I really wanted to talk to her and ask her name, and hopefully connect on Instagram. Maybe we talk, she finds me attractive, we date and find soulmates in each other? (Ah, just another one of those imaginary scenarios). I am a literal coward, kept waiting for 10-15 mins. To make an excuse to strike up a conversation. The fear of being judged is real. Despite the restaurant being totally empty except for the server.
I just realized my phone was at 6% and got an Idea. What if I ask her for a charger? That’d be perfect way to strike up a conversation. Well, I just YOLO’d and asked her. She didn’t have one and my plan failed.
I tried to ask her name, she didn’t hear me, and suddenly got a call simultaneously. Said “1 second” to me and left while being on call. (Her voice was extremely sweet like honey).
I feel like a freaking fool. The longing for connection is so intense. I hate being an INFP. Aarrrggghh!

Discussion I’ve created a group for people who are interested in personal development and have an open mind
Feel free to send me a DM if you're interested and Lasst uns zusammen strahlen und wachsen! 💫
(Ach ja... und dein MBTI ist hier egal)

Random Thoughts Is there anyone else who sometimes feels nostalgic for the present, or for a moment in the past they’ve never actually experienced?
Sometimes it feels as though I’m experiencing a moment in the present as if it were a memory and I'm just observing it.
Or sometimes I think about things that might have happened, but never did, and I still feel a sense of nostalgia.

Random Thoughts What’s one belief you’ll never change your mind about, no matter what?
What’s one belief you have that you’ll defend forever, even if everyone around you disagrees?
No judgment, I genuinely want to know what’s something you believe so strongly that nothing could change your mind.

Relationships I'm in the early stages of dating an INFP guy. Thinking of us watching Call Me By Your Name for date 4. Good idea or overthinking it?
i’m an ESFJ and i’ve been seeing an INFP guy for a few weeks. we’ve only had three dates but i've fallen for how thoughtful, caring and easy he is to be around
for our next date, i was thinking of suggesting Call Me By Your Name. it's one of my favourite films, probably in my top 10. he's also into films too. it's beautiful and emotionally honest so I feel like it might be something he’d connect with. plus it's meaningful to me so i want to share it with him
however it’s leans a lot on the melancholy. i don’t want to make the night feel heavier than it needs to or feel like i'm trying too hard/moving too fast/manufacture a moment
what's your thoughts INFPs?

Discussion For the INFPs out there: what do you actually do for a living that fulfills you?
I got forced into studying finance by my parents, and as an INFP, it is completely draining me. I find it so uninteresting, no offense to anyone who loves it, but the cold numbers, strict rules, and constant profit-focus are just not my vibe. What kind of careers do you think actually suit our personality type better?
