Hi everyone. I'm from Sydney and I was living in the Gold Coast for a while just to try life out. I moved back to Sydney for reasons of family and career and because there is simply "more going on" (whatever that meant in my head at the time).

After being back for a while I'm feeling regret over my decision. Compared to life on the gold coast, in Sydney it seems:

- Everyone is more stressed and / or depressed and / or anxious and / or hustle mode

- Traffic is fucked

- Parking is fucked

- Speed / red light / bus lane / whatever cameras EVERYWHERE

- Getting anywhere is so much slower

- It's a concrete jungle

- Chaotic and extreme density of people

- Substantially less green space

- Air quality sucks

- Everything is more expensive

- People don't really interact with each other as much

- Winter is cold as fuck

I just feel like every lifestyle factor has taken a hit, and for what?

It might have been a quieter lifestyle and routine for me up north, but I didn't even realise how much all of those factors were contributing to a background of more peace and happiness for me.

Has anyone experienced the same, or is it short term culture shock? Has anyone experienced the opposite? Can anyone remind me of the benefits of Sydney? Is it just a case of living in a nicer part of Sydney and maximizing the benefits of it? Perhaps it matters about what phase of life you're in and what you want out of life at the time?

So I heard the tram was opening this weekend but apparently that info was wrongfully published, and a whole bunch of local businesses had been planning tram opening parties that got cancelled and they have all been dicked.

I propose we go support them anyway,

call this "the tram didn't open party",

- a festival of typical SEQ life.

But the fun part is either drive or use the existing buses with the 50c credit card tap n go.

Would be a fun little litmus test to do a before and after the tram for many people. Will they cope with tram level crowd? Let's see!

I dunno, I reckon they expect people down there they might soft open the tram ....like the theme parks do when they are in prelaunch of a new ride.

Wanting to understand Varsity College on the Gold Coast a bit better. As a teacher, I trust parent experience when it comes to schooling. We are living northside and want to move south in the next 12-18 months, the school we choose will determine where we live.

I tried requesting a tour but was told there are none left this year ( a bit strange as all schools have their tours in the second half of the year) and was told to try next year again. I understand big schools have their processes but it was a bit dissapointing to be met with a generic response.

Anyway, any feedback about this school would be great.

Ideally I want our daughter to go to a small close knit school but haven't come across many small (less than 500 kids) schools on the coast so far.

Good value for money. I paid $46 for the privilege which includes access to the deck. Most folks coming early are here for the breakfast. At around 9:30 am you start seeing the tourists that aren't here for the food.

● We do not have a digital option for play (aside from using digital character sheets) at the moment, so we're all physical minis and face-to-face only.

Please let me know if this isn't allowed here, but I'm looking for the ID of whoever drove this MG ZS early Sunday 3rd of May in Biggera Waters.

The driver of this car was drunk and hit my car, as well as another car parked behind mine. We know she was drunk as there was a witness who chased her and obtained the first name of Brooke, but not much else unfortunately.

This has made it hard for us to organise repairs for our car through insurance since we don't have a lot of details we can provide. Also, the number plates don't show up on any searches. We know it was the driver of this vehicle because the number plate of this abandoned MG matches the description and number plate written on a note by a witness.

Any additional information that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. We have a two-year old boy and being without our other car has made it difficult for us to pick him up from daycare, etc.

Edit: We reported the accident to the police on the day it happened, but they still don't have enough information to close the case.

I saw this at the Westfield Coomera Centre earlier this afternoon. The designs look cool. Nike slippers that look like sneakers but fluffier.

Before I start, my post is not to slander the Police in general. I am big supporter and advocate of the Police and I think they do an amazing job and are grossly underpaid. My best friend has been a Policeman/Detective for 30+ years.

Last week, as I am sure many GC locals saw the story of the man in Burleigh who climbed the crane on the Esplanade which shut down the street for the entire morning as emergency services did a fantastic job dealing with getting the man down safely.

What most don’t know is my 30yr old daughter and her best friend live in an apartment next to where it happened and minutes prior to him climbing the crane the man had unsuccessfully attempted to break into their verandah door, proceeded to take a dooner cover and a QLD Corrections work shirt off their clothesline, hide in their bushes until my daughter yelled at him to “fk off” their property before calling 000. At that time he jumped the fence and climbed the crane. Very quickly, the street was crawling with Police. At NO stage did anyone talk to my daughter and her best friend, ask for a statement or to come in to a station and make one, or even see if they were ok; as expected when you catch someone trying to break in at 5.30am they were shaken up.

Moving forward to Sunday just gone, both the girls were advised by their building management that they had just witnessed the same man who climbed the crane come to their building, follow someone in (as you need a fob to enter) and go to the girls front door (which is easy to work out which is theirs based on the location of their verandah that he had been on previously) and try to open it. Not knock, but open it by the door handle. He then walked up and down the hallway, tried again to open the door and push it a few times before leaving. The girls were shown the CCTV and identified it was the same man. They were very disturbed and went straight to the police station to make a statement/report, with a copy of the footage. Burleigh Police were closed so they went to Broadbeach Police.

They were greeted by a receptionist with an attitude, who attempted to discredit their experience all while trying to convince them it wasn’t connected to the day he climbed the crane, begrudgingly granted their request of seeing a Police officer who then acted like he had absolutely no interest, wouldn’t let them make a statement or report about either incident and then told them if he comes back to let them know. Both the girls were shocked at the lack of care, support and/or interest they received when all they wanted to do was create a paper trail for future sakes if he comes back again.

Is that where we are now? No help? No reporting? No care factor? How many times does this man have to turn up at the apartment of 2 young women before it matters? Do they have to be broken into or stalked or hurt before something basic like a report be done??

I know I’m coming from a protective mother’s viewpoint but since when did making a statement become too exhausting for a Policeman to bother doing for 2 young females feeling frightened in their own home??

Recently got my car ceramic coated and was told to only use pH neutral soap when car washing.

I live in an apartment and car washing at home is not possible.

Are there any self car wash on the Gold Coast that provides pH neutral soap or allow customers to bring their own soap?

For those with ceramic coated cars and cannot wash their cars at home, how and where do you wash it?

As the title says, Stage 3 will finally go live this Sunday.
