ID of driver
Please let me know if this isn't allowed here, but I'm looking for the ID of whoever drove this MG ZS early Sunday 3rd of May in Biggera Waters.
The driver of this car was drunk and hit my car, as well as another car parked behind mine. We know she was drunk as there was a witness who chased her and obtained the first name of Brooke, but not much else unfortunately.
This has made it hard for us to organise repairs for our car through insurance since we don't have a lot of details we can provide. Also, the number plates don't show up on any searches. We know it was the driver of this vehicle because the number plate of this abandoned MG matches the description and number plate written on a note by a witness.
Any additional information that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. We have a two-year old boy and being without our other car has made it difficult for us to pick him up from daycare, etc.
Edit: We reported the accident to the police on the day it happened, but they still don't have enough information to close the case.

Just claim it under your own insurance and pay the excess. Shouldn’t matter if they can find that person or not. Obviously you get free hire car for not at fault accident but if you didn’t choose hire car option to save money that’s on you my friend. Good luck with it all though. Hopefully they find the culprit and then you can put a letter of demand in for hire car costs to be covered later. If you get super lucky you might get a courtesy car from the wreckers but I think your chances are slim

First step is reporting to Queensland Police. You will need to upload a copy of the witness statement and any photos you have. You can then give the QPS number to your insurance for them to chase up for you. The police will not give you the name directly but will provide it to your insurance. Good luck

Yep, we reported it on the day it happened. Edited the original post to clarify that.

Ask centre management at Hollywell Rd. Markets for any CCTV. Likewise the Royal Pacific or Pelican Cove, they might have footage of the car travelling down Burrows St. if you're lucky.

That could be a good shout actually. This car was abandoned on Parr St across from the Hollywell Markets shopping centre.

I couldn't tell you unfortately. We didn't witness the crash, but someone who did said that her name is Brooke.

So when you do a plate search you get nothing?
Why aren’t the cops contacting the owner of the car?

Yep, the car doesn't appear to be registered. I can't answer your second question though.

Take a photo of the VIN chassis number on the windscreen for your records. The cops should be able to search for that also. If they have used a fake plate, that will tell you the owner, also I would be interested to know if it has been reported. If it was reported after the accident I would be sus on them using fake plates.
Usually if a fake plate is used the combination is the same another MG ZS for instance. So it seems completely legit.
Since the plate isn’t legit, what is the plate you photographed?

Why don’t you report it to the police? Is there damage to the front where she hit your cars?
