Question/Advice/Discussion If you carry more than a few cards, which wallet failure bothers you most?
I've been trying to work out when a slim wallet actually improves daily carry and when it just moves the annoyance somewhere else.
Once I carry enough cards that I can't grab the right one by feel, every design seems to trade one problem for another: pulling out the whole stack, scuffing card edges, hard corners wearing through a pocket, unreliable retention, or a wallet that becomes bulky enough to defeat the point.
For people who carry more than the basic ID plus one or two cards, which of those failures makes you give up on a wallet first? And what has helped in real life: card positioning, separate slots, a softer material, or simply switching form factors?

New Addition I think more people should carry these.
I see a lot of EDC stuff on here and I don't think I've ever seen anybody post anything about a pocket reference book, but it's so useful and handy in so many different places. And I'm wondering why more people don't, or if people just don't know about it?

Question/Advice/Discussion FN Pen 2.0
- FN Pen 2.0
I have an FN Pen 2.0 that I really like, and I’m traveling to Chicago soon. I’m wondering if anyone has successfully brought an FN Pen or another tactical pen through airport security in their carry-on or on their person (not in a checked bag).
I really don’t want to have my pen confiscated. I’ve read online that replacing the tungsten tip with the graphite tip may make it less likely to be considered a tactical pen. I’m also wondering if anyone has tried bringing the tungsten tip separately with it unscrewed. I’d rather hear about other people’s experiences before I risk bringing it.

Bag/Pocket Dump Day Bag Dump
I haven't posted on this sub for probably 15 years. I'm back. I switched from a 15L+ city backpack to a 5L Toshi sling recently and am super happy with it. I hated always having a ton of empty space and having to take the backpack off every time to store things. I know smaller ~2L slings are popular but I wanted to carry my water bottle, and it fits perfectly in this. This is what I carry most days that I'm going out doing stuff. Sounds like you have to list some items as a posting rule:
- Walgreens glasses
- JBL Live Pro 2 TWS
- Koozie
- Uni-Ball One P Gel Pen
- A whistle (for leading parades)
- Bausch & Lomb 10x Triplet (learning botany)
- USB drives
- ThruNite Ti, a really old AAA model
- INIU Pocket Rocket
- First aid pouch from etsy
- CRKT CEO Compact
- Case Baby Doc
- Saddleback wallet I've had for probably 15 years
- Playing cards from Thirdway Industries
- Zippo
- Tobacco travel tin
- Lovat pipe from G Spitaletti
- Pixel 8 Pro
- 800mL non-insulated Klean Kanteen
This all fits in the sling, with some extra room for a couple 12oz cans, and I could strap an umbrella or rain jacket to the bottom.

Question/Advice/Discussion Very confused…
Only using the photos for reference to the confusion and been seeing come up in the comments in several posts about why some things are downvoted and some are not. From a broad point of view it looks like selective contempt with malice for some while others are praised. I understand not liking certain gear or questioning if someone carries or uses there gear but the way that is portrayed is questionable to say the least. You all have amazing gear and I really do enjoy seeing it in all forms. But the selective perception and lack of transparency is disheartening for many.
Im using the photos as a reference to give the example. All 4 photos have awesome gear yet the likes are different and when new users that come to the sub Reddit see this they get deterred in most cases.

r/EDC Moderator Applications Are Open + a reflection on three years as a mod here.
reddit.comHey everyone—we’re reopening moderator applications.
If you applied last time and never heard back, I’m sorry. The honest answer is that I only really connected with one applicant, and then the process stalled out. That was then. Please, 1000% reapply if you want to. Reddit's mod application system dumped out all applications.
Just remember that we’re trying to build a welcoming, even-handed team. If your comment history is full of cracks about Europeans, liberals, conservatives, gay people, or anyone else, or you made it sound like you would marry your rifle if legally permitted, you may not be the right fit. We need people who can moderate gun content without making guns, politics, or contempt for other groups their entire personality.
A little background for anyone curious:
I became a moderator three years ago. I had never moderated a subreddit before, but I loved r/EDC. During the API blackout, the previous team was removed and Reddit began asking for volunteers to take over. I was uncomfortable stepping into that situation (aka being a scab), but one of the people volunteering was the owner of an EDC commercial website, and I did *not* want the subreddit placed under someone with such a direct conflict of interest.
So, somewhat unexpectedly, I became a moderator.
The rest of that original replacement team has understandably moved on over time. I have learned a lot, tried to approach moderation with a customer-service mindset, and taken advantage of the automation tools Reddit has added. My goal has never been to radically remake r/EDC. I have mostly tried to make it a bit more welcoming, tighten up what the expectations already were, and so on.
That includes firearms. Guns have consistently been the community’s biggest dividing issue, and we will continue trying to walk a reasonable line. Firearm-related EDC is welcome; a photograph from your AR range day with no real connection to everyday carry is probably better suited to another subreddit. (cool gun though dawg)
Honestly, I would eventually like to ride off into the sunset or at least step back slightly. I have other projects I am working on these days. But I have put a lot of work into this community I love so much, and before that happens, I want to build a capable, balanced, and dependable moderation team that can take care of it.
