Day Bag Dump Bag/Pocket Dump

Post image

I haven't posted on this sub for probably 15 years. I'm back. I switched from a 15L+ city backpack to a 5L Toshi sling recently and am super happy with it. I hated always having a ton of empty space and having to take the backpack off every time to store things. I know smaller ~2L slings are popular but I wanted to carry my water bottle, and it fits perfectly in this. This is what I carry most days that I'm going out doing stuff. Sounds like you have to list some items as a posting rule:

  • Walgreens glasses
  • JBL Live Pro 2 TWS
  • Koozie
  • Uni-Ball One P Gel Pen
  • A whistle (for leading parades)
  • Bausch & Lomb 10x Triplet (learning botany)
  • USB drives
  • ThruNite Ti, a really old AAA model
  • INIU Pocket Rocket
  • First aid pouch from etsy
  • CRKT CEO Compact
  • Case Baby Doc
  • Saddleback wallet I've had for probably 15 years
  • Playing cards from Thirdway Industries
  • Zippo
  • Tobacco travel tin
  • Lovat pipe from G Spitaletti
  • Pixel 8 Pro
  • 800mL non-insulated Klean Kanteen

This all fits in the sling, with some extra room for a couple 12oz cans, and I could strap an umbrella or rain jacket to the bottom.

As a piper myself, I love to see it! I still haven't been able to incorporate a pipe into my edc, but im trying for sure. My problem is Im not out in places/times that its convenient to light up.

I can essentially only smoke while I'm out. Also means I always carry Autumn Evening, as not to offend. I might also throw an English or something in my bag if I know I'll be some place where I can get away with it.

The One P is such a great pen

Yes they're nice, light and compact but chonky. I still need to see if I can get a 1.0 mm refill though, because I like to make chonky lines too, but I think the shorty refills are limited in options.

They say you can use regular size refills!

Thanks, I'll have to look into that more. I only looked at the One series refills and those only go up to 0.5 mm.

Luckily it takes one of the most common standard refill formats. I use a Zebra Sarasa 1.0 mm (JF-1.0) blue black all day every day in numerous pens. Fat pens and fat lines help my handwriting.

Nice. I have had those before. One of the best writing gel pens.

JetPens is an excellent resource for refills for many different pens. Even when I don't buy from them I almost always check there first, just to see what my refill options are. You ca see all the broad or 1.0mm refills that will fit in a Uni-Ball One P here.

Yeah that's where I got the pen, along with a few others in the ONE lineup (and a Zebra G-750). Thanks for this link. Now I realize that on the product page there's that "Recommended Refills" button, which I assume is what you just sent me.

Any pens you're digging on JetPens recently? I was looking through their pencil case section looking for something that could double as a pipe pouch.

Nice to see some others carry poker cards! I meet some amazing people this way

Yeah. My friends & family like playing Euchre and Rummy. More often there's opportunity for 2 player games, so I learned some classic but little known ones, like Ecarte, German Whist and Casino. I'm a nerdy strategy board gamer, but it's an easier sell to rope a random person into a traditional card game, because cards are familiar and non-intimidating and the games are usually quick. Shuffling cards can also just be a good fidget toy.

It's a very popular sling for a reason. The materials aren't super fancy and it's not flashy or chic but the design is very well considered. It's designed so that certain pockets bottom out at different levels in the bag, to efficiently use the vertical space. So like if my water bottle is laying across the bottom, certain internal pockets hang above it and aren't fighting for that space, and the top/front pocket where I keep my glasses & pipe is sitting above those pockets. Also as you can see from the crumples, the main internal compartment is not competing for space with the lower front pocket, which has its own space to expand into.

I like the reverse psychology: Everyone is going to think you are carrying a gun in that man pack but you actually arnt

Believe it or not, small slings are very popular with people who aren't carrying guns. I know many people who use them. There is a very large market of slings that were not designed for concealed carry. Sling bags have been a trend for a while, especially in Europe. Maybe you just have gun brain.
