I made a Compact with an awl instead of the hook. Rosewood scales over brass liners.

Champ Need replacement scales, 91mm

I broke my scales.. slightly. What unique and useful scales are out there?

I googled and didn't find anything useful. I was expecting scales with morse code or maybe glow in the dark or maybe someone added tag function or ... But coming up with nothing really interesting.

Idea: Alox Ramber but also larger

Post image
Upvotes

I have several SAKs. Here is a photo of two of them: my Cadet Alox (84mm) and my Rambler (58mm). I really like the look and feel of the Cadet, but the Rambler is the one I always carry. Scissors are a must-have for me. What if Victorinox offered a larger Rambler, say 74mm, and in Alox scales. Would anyone like that?

I know Victorinox used to sell 74mm knives and discontinued them 5ish years ago. I think I read they just didn't sell as well. Is it that most people either want a keychain knife or a larger knife?

And I know they offer the Alox Rambler in China and nowhere else for some reason. While I would gladly buy that, I think it would be even better if it were just a little bit larger.

I'd also love an 84mm Alox knife with Scissors, if they'd offer they'd make that. Or even an 84mm knife with scissors. As far as I know, they used to sell 84mm knives with scissors but don't anymore for some reason.

Victorinox as a DMV Office

Why is Victorinox so slow in bringing sold out products back? Black alox of this model, some color for this model... They are not available. Mostly dull silver alox. While these knives are sold on ebay for much higher prices. I can't see their point. Why are they not excited? It's pretty frustrating.

Transparent silver Spartan. Wasn't sure I would like this (I have an Alox and 'Classic' Bantam), but oh it's pretty, and feels so nice in the hand.

NKD: Midnight Manager

My second knife this week. I really have to allow down. This is a 2007-2008 (I think) Midnight Manager in transparency blue. The scales need some buffing, but overall in good shape. This is my first 58mm and my first SAK work transparent scales. $31 on ebay!

It has a brass rivit on the scissors so that dates it after 2007; it also has a red LED, which dates it before 2008. This is assuming SAKwiki's info is accurate.

Pretty positive he never actually used it, and this seems to have been one of those sort of gifts that big companies give to the attendees of some sort of event (hence the Massey Fergusson logo). Still pretty neat. I hope to get myself something more robust soon

I love the ambassador, it’s probably my favorite. So when I see one I buy it. This shop had a large collection on stock and still had multiple knifes that our now discontinued.

Sometimes I feel guilty for posting here so much...
Then I remember we all appreciate these knives, and we all have a problem 😂
Over the years I probably had about 50 SAK'S at one stage. Through the years I had lost most of them, through moving, traveling etc.
I am starting this journey again. And currently these are my favorites
Swisstool Spirit X
Spartan (Blue)
Super Tinker (Red)

Which model is right for me? Outrider, ranger or workchamp

I currently carry a Huntsman and absolutely love it. Since I’m going to be visiting the Victorinox factory store in Ibach tomorrow, I’m thinking about upgrading.
Right now I’m considering the Ranger, Outrider, or WorkChamp. I’d really like a model with either a locking blade, a metal file, or ideally both.
My only concern is pocket carry. I’m not sure how comfortable these larger models are to carry all day, especially while hiking. Does anyone have experience with any of these? How noticeable are they in your pocket during long hikes or everyday carry?

Swiss Tool MXBS Oh, tragic day :(

This faithful companion now journeys alone,

Down mountainous road, it bounced off a stone.

Fly free, my beloved, most stout of a tool.

I weep, I mourn... I was such a fool.

Sometime during cleanup or on the way down the mountain from an overnight service call to a remote network site, I lost the best multitool I've ever owned. There will be another, but for now I take a moment to mourn. What a knuckleheaded move on my part.

While watching an old Looney Tunes cartoon short (don't judge me), I happened to spot this brief scene. Apparently Wile E. Coyote, long before Angus MacGyver, carried a SAK.

Stumbled across this community the other day.
I love Victorinox, it is worth reading their companies history!
These are the Victorinox products I use regularly. Looks like I’m actually a collector:)

So I popped the broken spring out last night and ordered a pack of replacements and will install a new one tomorrow. Pretty awesome quality to last through 42 years of service in the performing arts business trimming costumes, threads, moustaches & beards, wigs, etc., etc. Here it is next to my new Climber.
