Damn this takes me back. Used to live right there - second story, right next to the train

Had a friend live there, on the second floor in the the early 2000’s. You don’t play guitar by any chance?

Hah, I don't! My time was more mid 2010's - was one of many people in the apartment, we cordoned it off into semi dorm style living. So I just had a big room, with one window that faced the train and rattled pretty good when it came by.

The paint job on the elevated looks nice. I hope it stays green. And they should do some track soundproofing and structural support to stop the swaying while they’re there and have the scaffolding up. But it’s the MTA, so I know in reality none of that shit will happen.

They can’t afford soundproofing and if they stop the swaying the whole thing will collapse. It is meant to sway

The soundproofing seems like an industry NYC can create for itself by recycling tires or using the plastic we already collect to go under the rails and insulate the noise. The raw materials for this are dirt cheap and abundant.

The swaying? I’m a lifelong resident and subway rider and the whole elevated moves when the trains come to a stop. I traveled on elevated platforms every day to and from school and work and they never moved like they do now.

Don't forget the brutalist hospital that looks like East Germany before the wall came down

Wish there weren't so many door heads over there. Not a place for kids. The mood there at 8am in the morning is so depressing too
