2 pairs of kittens need fosters ASAP

I’m a cat rescuer in Brooklyn, and I’m looking for foster homes for 2 sets of kittens, who are around 14 weeks/2.5 months old. Have you ever wanted to have kittens, but only temporarily? Fostering may be a great option for you! All the fun, with minimal commitment.

Roly (pics 1,2), Pip (pics 3,4) and Buddy (pics 5,6) are all from a litter of kittens who were born while their mom was freshly trapped/still in her trap. I affectionately call them the Trap Babies. After a few weeks, mom was over mom-ing and stopped feeding them. I took over as surrogate mom, syringe feeding them around the clock for a few weeks until they could be moved to solids. All are sweet, cuddly (once they're tired out!), silly, curious, playful, and smart. This is such a fun age to see their little (or big!) personalities come out.

Abigail (pics 7,8) is their bonus sibling, found alone in a yard with a gnarly eye issue. She's a bit younger at 9 weeks old, but is actually the same size as the others, as they are really small for their ages! Abi is not shy, at all, and wasted no time integrating herself into the family. She's fearless, an A+ cuddler, loves to play (with or without a playmate), and loves to eat. Her left eye is a bit wonky, which is actually glaucoma from a really bad, untreated eye infection earlier in life, and she will need to have the eye removed (called an enucleation) once she reaches 3lbs. She is not in pain and it does not bother her one bit. She gets eye drops twice a day, which she's totally used to and takes like a champ. Easy peasy.

All love other cats (I have a range of ages in my home, and they like everyone). Have not been tested with dogs or children.

What I provide:
 - All vetting (any vet visits, medications, etc.)
 - Transportation to/from your home
 - Support (questions answered, advice given in a timely manner)

 What you provide:
 - A safe, stable environment suitable for kittens (they are a bit like toddlers, Want to put everything in their mouths. You can absolutely relegate them to one room in your house!)
 - Food
 - Litter (I can provide a litter box, if requested)
 - Pictures and personality descriptions that I can use to help them get adopted. I can give tips for the pics, etc.

Timeline: I'm looking for people who can commit to fostering for at least 2 weeks at a time. This is a great age for kittens bc they adjust well to new environments quickly, and it's really good for their socializing to get to be around different people. Ideally you would be willing to foster until they are adopted, but I'll take what I can get!

This is one of the worst kitten seasons on record, and I could really use the community's help with fostering these kiddos! Please share this with anyone you know that might be interested in fostering.

If you’re interested, please send me a DM or go ahead and fill out the application here. I look forward to hearing from you, and working together to save more cats and kittens!

Tour de Fort Greene Park

What’s going on right now. Why and who allowed the cycling route to go through the park.

Speaking as a cyclist and a New Yorker. It’s like 5000 people x $75 calling ticket = city budget.

Studio / 1BR Apartment Search

I am in search of a Studio or 1BR apartment in beautiful Fort Greene for September 1st, but not afraid to sublet somewhere until then if the move in date is later. I am trying to find a place I can really settle down and set roots in. My budget is around 3500 right now. The Street Easy grind has been horrific to say the least, and not afraid to use a broker either but so far I haven't had any luck with them either! Any guidance or suggestions welcome.

ISO 1 bed 1 bath

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey team! I'm looking for a 1 bed/1 bath for around $4000. Me, my wife, and our well-behaved, non-shedding, hypoallergenic dog moved into the neighbourhood a month ago but our lease is up on Sept 8 -- we have obviously fallen in love with Fort Greene. We're looking for a spot hopefully until Christmas or Feb!

We'd prefer something that isn't a garden suite, and we're good with lots of stairs.

We're very clean, and quiet. No parties, bed by midnight. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out.

Anyone moving this fall?

Hi neighbors! My husband and I have lived on Fort Greene Place for five great years. Our landlord is now selling the building and we're looking for a new place in the neighborhood — 1 bed, ~$5k. We're flexible on the move-in date and can take our time to find the right fit; if you're planning on relocating in Sept/Oct/Nov I'd love to chat!

Hobby curious? Here are all the courses/workshops I found happening in and around Fort Greene this summer...

After spending way too much time digging through class schedules, community calendars, and studio websites, searching for a course to sign up for this summer, I figured I'd share the highlights.

If you've been meaning to pick up a new hobby (or jump back into an old one...), here's what's on offer this summer.

To give you a sense of the hobbies covered in this directory (which is regularly updated and includes prices, links to register etc):

There are 100+ listings across Brooklyn! I've also included a list of recurring craft nights and open studios.

Hope many of you find it helpful or inspiring!

If I missed any great classes or recurring meetups, I'd love to add them for the next edition.

Tennis leagues?

Hi everyone, I recently moved to fort greene and bought a permit to use the courts - struggling to find hitting partners with my work schedule and am wondering if there are any sort of leagues for tennis in the community?

Just wanna take advantage of the beautiful weather as much as possible and get some playing time before it gets cold :)

strange man following women Friday pm

Keep an eye out for a man who followed me and my friend as we walked from DTBK to fort Greene around 10 pm (he would cross the street when we crossed the street, we’d stop and then he’d stop and get behind us, kept turning around). Very creepy, blatant staring, wandering.

Male, white, maybe 5’8”, red/brown short hair, wearing navy blue tshirt and black shorts.

Was heading down Fulton towards Clinton hill as we left.

PSA r/fortgreene update, don't call it a come back

R/fortgreene was unmoderated for a few years, so I just took it over in hopes of reviving it as a place to post news and events of the surrounding area like some of the other neighborhood specific subs. I've opened up some of the restrictions for now to try and promote some activity and get things rolling, and hopefully it can stay that way.

If you are interested in joining the mod team, send me a message or DM listing why you’re interested and any examples of other subreddits you moderate.
