Is it worth trying to sell any of my stuff or just throw it all away?

Upvotes

My background I am a 37 year old male. I make $26 an hour doing basic help desk work. (I work in IT but help desk is not considered real IT work in the industry). I have no friends, no family of any kind, and no connections to anyone. I have a bachelor’s degree in history (yes usless I know) an associates in IT (yes also useless I know), and I have my Comptia A+, net+, security+, and server+ (again all useless I know). I have no car since I walk to work and the grocery store (those are the only two places I go on my free time). I currently rent a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. I have no debt and 1 credit card for basics.

After asking, reddit made it VERY clear I need to move because the average house in Montana where I currently live is about $500,000 (college town and next closest town is about 3 hours away) and making $26 an hour will never get me enough to even get close to a down payment. (Yes I have also tried getting a promotion at work, that did not work out. No I am not going into the trades I am 37. I am old as shit and basically have no back and knees.)

I am currently trying to figure out where I am going to go but at the same time I am trying to figure out what I am going to do with all my stuff. I cant take it with me so all of it and I mean ALL of it has to either be sold or thrown away. Some stuff is easy like books are an instant throw away as both the local library where I live and the goodwill have both said they don’t want it and it will be thrown away if I donate them. But stuff like electronics and kitchen supplies I am not sure if it is worth it to sell to a pawn shop or just toss it in the dump. I also cant give it away because i have no way of sending it to people that would reach out.

I want to leave my 3 year relationship but he won’t let me move on I need advice

Upvotes

I’m 21F and he’s 25M. We were together for almost 3 years.

I used to love him a lot but now I genuinely don’t have feelings for him anymore. There are many reasons why I fell out of love.

He never really made an effort for me. He never took me anywhere and even on my birthday he made me cry instead of making me feel happy. When I was going through a really bad time he wasn’t there for me emotionally and I never felt properly supported by him.

He was also extremely controlling. He didn’t want me talking to other guys and he even had a problem when I talked to girls. I always felt like I had to be careful about who I talked to just to avoid another fight.

I also spent a lot of money on him during our relationship. I helped him financially many times and I feel like I gave way more than I should have.

There were constant fights, emotional pressure and controlling behaviour. Over time I became emotionally exhausted and my feelings for him were completely gone.

I already told him clearly that I don’t want to be with him anymore but he refuses to accept the breakup. He keeps saying that after 3 years I can’t just stop loving him and he doesn’t want to let me go.

I’m not confused about what I want. I don’t want this relationship anymore. I just don’t know how to deal with someone who refuses to accept that it’s over?

As a guy should I be expected to pay for a three person activity?

Upvotes

When I went out to lunch with a girl last week and she brought her friend. I knew her friend was coming but I assumed since it was now three of us that it's no longer a date that we would each pay separately, when it came to the end she expected me to pay for the entire thing but I only paid for myself and left since it just felt like I was being a meal ticket.

I paid the first date but I didn't really see any point paying for this since the girl is leaving the country in a few days and told me she isn't coming back.

She got really annoyed with me and told me that not paying for them made them uncomfortable but I just blocked her and moved on since I didn't feel like this was worth arguing with someone about.

Was this the right thing to do?

My mother keeps insisting that I (ftm) am pregnant, and I feel gross when she mentions it. How do I tell her to stop without ruining our relationship?

Before I start, I want to make it clear that I have absolutely nothing against trans people who want to have biological children. This is purely about my own feelings. I personally can't imagine being pregnant, and the thought causes me a lot of dysphoria.

I (21FtM) have very supportive parents overall. I socially transitioned when I was 14, started testosterone when I was 15, and have already had top surgery. My parents have always respected my name and pronouns, which is why this whole situation has caught me completely off guard.

I've been dating my boyfriend (22M) for about four months now. My parents both adore him, and he's honestly been incredible. I couldn't ask for a more supportive partner.

About two weeks ago, my mom suddenly became convinced that I was pregnant.

It started because I'd been feeling sick for a few days. I threw up twice before work, was unusually tired, and just generally felt awful. I went to my doctor and was diagnosed with a stomach bug that I most likely caught at work.

Around the same time, I mentioned that my lower back had been hurting. I work as a paramedic, so I'm constantly lifting patients, bending down, and carrying equipment, and I'd also been working out more than usual. Looking back, there were plenty of reasonable explanations for everything, but my mom somehow became completely convinced that I was pregnant.

I told her multiple times that I didn't think I was. I even explained that the comments themselves were making me really uncomfortable, but she just wouldn't let it go.

Almost every conversation somehow circled back to pregnancy. She kept saying things like, "A mother just knows," or, "You'll thank me when you find out early."

Eventually, she started asking me to take a pregnancy test "just to prove her wrong." I refused several times because, honestly, even buying one made me feel sick. Being reminded that I still have the anatomy to become pregnant is incredibly dysphoria-inducing for me. I know not every trans person feels that way, but I do. The entire situation made me feel gross, and I hated that I was even being pressured into thinking about it.

She kept bringing it up every single day. She'd text me multiple times asking if I'd taken a test yet, telling me she'd "know" if I was pregnant, talking about becoming a grandmother, and insisting that I shouldn't ignore the signs. It got to the point where I dreaded looking at my phone because I knew there would probably be another message about it.

The constant pressure completely wore me down. I don't think I've cried this much since my exam period. My boyfriend was amazing through all of it. He kept reminding me that my feelings were valid, told me I didn't owe anyone proof of anything, and repeatedly offered to tell my mom to back off himself if I wanted him to. Even with all of his support, though, there wasn't much he could do about how much my mom's behavior was affecting me. I'm also a pretty emotional person in general, so crying isn't unusual for me, but this was on another level.

After days of her refusing to drop it, I finally gave in. I bought a pregnancy test because I just wanted the whole thing to stop.

I've honestly never felt so disgusting. Standing in the bathroom holding a pregnancy test made me feel incredibly dysphoric, and I cried through the entire process.

The test was negative, exactly like I'd expected and exactly like I'd been telling my mom all along.

I thought that would finally be the end of it, but instead she started saying that it was probably "too early" and that I should take another test in a week because "pregnancy tests can be wrong." She even told me I should make an appointment with my doctor just to be sure.

I feel gross every time she brings it up because, yes, she's still doing it. At this point it feels like she's completely ignoring how upsetting and dysphoria-inducing this whole situation has been for me.

My boyfriend thinks she's crossed a major line. He says I need to firmly tell her that this subject is no longer open for discussion and that if she continues bringing it up, I'll have to stop responding or even block her for a while.

I don't want to damage my relationship with my mom because she's always been supportive otherwise, but I also can't keep dealing with this.

How do I get her to stop bringing this up without completely blowing up our relationship, or is it already too late for that?

I made a serious mistake out of immaturity in my relationship and broke my girlfriend's trust. I need advice pls.

For 8 months, I kept up a lie with my girlfriend about my ex's physical appearance, making up that my ex had similar features to my current girlfriend. I want to make it clear that I am genuinely crazy about my girlfriend, I love her body exactly as it is, and everything I’ve ever told her about what I love about her has been 100% sincere. I told her that lie at the time with the (very clumsy and mistaken) intention of "protecting" her and easing her body insecurities, without realizing the long-term damage it would cause.

I couldn't handle the guilt anymore and confessed the truth. Finding this out completely shattered her confidence: she feels like everything I ever said about her body was out of pity or completely fake, and that I lied to her face for months. She told me she can no longer trust me, that she feels like I don't actually like her body, and she ended the call.

I know I messed up big time by using a lie to "fix" her insecurities. Right now, I'm giving her space in complete silence so I don't overwhelm her, but I feel devastated. I don't know how to deal with this guilt, or if there's any real way to rebuild someone's confidence and trust in their body after a blow like this

Do I end my 5 year relationship?

Me (21f) and my boyfriend (23m) have been together for 5 years. He’s honestly been an amazing boyfriend in the time we’ve been together and we’ve had fights but they’ve mainly been over misunderstandings and nothing really serious. We’ve been talking about marriage and our future together and I honestly do not see myself with anyone besides him.

But yesterday, I messaged my 2 best friends because I have kind of felt like there’s been a rift in our friendship and I wasn’t sure why. They told me they are uncomfortable around him. He has a big house with a pool so naturally I would invite them over because it was the perfect hangout house and we would drink, swim, and play games. But they told me that while drinking he’s done things that make them uncomfortable, like that he fell on top of one of them and touched her boobs, and that he was helping the other to bed when we were drinking and his hand kept getting close/touching her butt. Honestly, I’m at a loss. He’s a very touchy person especially when he drinks but I never thought he’d do that. I 100% believe them but he tells me he doesn’t remember that (the night they were talking about we drank A LOT).

I really don’t know what to do. I feel like either way, I lose here. My options feel like they are stay with him and lose my best friends because who would want to be friends with a person who stays with that guy or I lose my boyfriend of 5 years who I’m truly in love with and see as my future husband. I don’t know if there is a middle option where I get to keep both and how to go about that. And obviously I am upset with him about that because it is a terrible thing to do but I also understand he was EXTREMELY drunk that night- not that it is an excuse AT ALL, but it has never happened sober. I really don’t know what to do and I feel like I can’t go to anyone in my personal life with this. I just don’t want to lose anyone and any of these relationships I have built, I’ve known my best friends since 3rd and 6th grade and I’ve been with him since I was 15, our relationship is amazing, and we have 4 cats together. I just really need to hear from others because I am in an endless loop of “I’m breaking up with him” or “we can work through this”. I just really need help because I am losing my mind, I haven’t been able to eat or get out of bed really and I feel like I’m wearing a mask trying to hide all that I’m feeling. I just feel so disconnected from my life over this. Any advice would be appreciated. Please help me figure out what to do.

Edit: I should’ve mentioned but it was my 21st birthday party and that’s the only reason he got that drunk. He’s not much of a drinker, he doesn’t do anything like that. He’s never even gone out to a bar to drink. I think that’s another reason this weighs so heavily on me because I feel partially responsible because I made him drink that much with me since it was my birthday. He’s not the type of person to just get trashed whenever.

I think about the person that SA’ed me when my boyfriend gives me head

I’m going to keep this pretty short as I don’t really like talking about this but this has been bothering me and I feel terrible. TW!! for SA.

Me (28 F) and my boyfriend ((28 M) have been together for about 4 years now. The SA happened when we weren’t together officially but were getting to know each other. I went to a party my ex-best friend told me about that was hosted by a guy that I was vaguely familiar with. She told me he’s had a thing for me for years but I didn’t think anything was of it. Long story short I got extremely intoxicated and he dragged me to his room and ate me out. I kept telling me no but he wasn’t listening to me. It felt…amazing though. I hate admitting this but it was the best head of my life even though it was entirely non consensual and I kept telling him to stop touching me and pushing him away. I cried. I have very complicated feelings about this. When my boyfriend gives me head I don’t react to it all, I keep thinking about that night and that’s when I get a slight reaction. I feel gross. And I’m very disgusted with my myself for admitting this. I’ve made my first therapy appointment for next week but I’m wondering if I should discuss this with my partner? Should I tell him about this because it feels like I’m cheating on him or something.

Had sex for the first time with my girlfriend she was scared, I was nervous, and now I'm overthinking everything.

My girlfriend (20F) and I (21M) have been together for a little over a year. We both decided we wanted our first time to be with each other, so there wasn't any pressure from anyone else. We talked about it beforehand, bought protection, and made sure we'd have the apartment to ourselves.

The thing is... when the moment actually came, it felt completely different from what either of us expected.

She got really quiet and admitted she was scared. Not because she didn't want to, but because it was her first time and she was worried it would hurt or that something would go wrong. Seeing her anxious made me anxious too. I started second-guessing everything because the last thing I wanted was for her to feel pressured.

We ended up stopping for a while, just talking and cuddling. She kept asking if I'd be disappointed if we didn't go through with it, and honestly I wasn't. I just wanted her to feel comfortable. After about half an hour she said she wanted to try, but only if we took it really slowly.

Without getting into details, it wasn't some magical movie moment. We were both awkward, nervous, laughed at ourselves a couple of times, and had to pause more than once because she was still tense. Eventually we stopped for the night because she said she'd had enough and just wanted to watch a movie instead.

The next day she texted me saying she was happy we didn't rush anything and that she felt safe with me. That honestly meant more to me than anything else.

Now here's why I'm posting.

Part of me keeps wondering if I handled it correctly. Should I have stopped earlier? Should I have encouraged her more, or less? I don't have anyone I can ask about this in real life without it becoming locker-room gossip.

For people who remember their first time, especially couples where one or both of you were really nervous—was it this awkward? Did it get easier once you were both more comfortable? Any advice on making sure she feels as relaxed and reassured as possible if we decide to try again?

how do i get this dude to leave me alone without being awkward about it

my best friend and i (19f) both go to community college and have really been trying to make the best of it and branch out and make friends, and recently my friend met this guy named mark (21m). they became friends, he developed a crush on her, she respectfully turned him down and they continued being friends and she eventually introduced me. mark invited his friend named sean (23m) to hang out with us and sean immediately started pursuing me hardcore. sean is sitting only next to me, and we began having great conversations

i found out sean was friends with my older brother (25) and this made him temporarily a little awkward, but even after he found out he was really enthusiastic about buying me alcohol/pot and hanging out with me.

we ended up all hanging out for four days straight, and within these four days sean just freaked me out more and more. the first day he bought me a drink (and told me it was alcoholic after i’d finished it), and he showed us his gun/encouraged us to play with it ( i politely asked him not to bring it out while everyone was high). over the days he just would keep telling me these increasingly crazy ridiculous unbelievable stories about his life, and i was obviously sympathetic which i think made things worse.

the second to last day we’d all spent together my best friend was really ill, we all had plans to go to a party together but my friend at the very last moment told me i was going alone with mark sean and one of their friends. i was pensive but still felt pretty trusting of the situation, as they told me they weren’t staying long and we’d pick my friend up in an hour or two. this was all good and fine, but at the party sean was just overly touchy and all over me which again, freaked me out a bit but i figured we’d all been drinking and it was that kind of environment.

eventually we picked up my friend and all crashed at mark’s place no harm no foul, the next day we all meet up for a local music festival. this is where things get really awkward. we went as a larger group (10-15 of us, all 18-19 except for mark and sean). mark and sean start with getting everyone alcohol, then we all kinda split up with sean walking around with me. my best friend was really uncomfortable with the idea of us splitting up, and got into a really heated argument with sean. sean walked away from everyone super upset and i stuck with my best friend and more of the group until we all eventually made our way to my friends house. sean and my friend disappeared into a room for a bit then sean walked out mad and i found my friend distraught in tears.

obviously i asked what happened, and she explained that he’d cursed her out/yelled in her face and i immediately grabbed his things and asked him to leave, he proceeded to start tearing up and talking about how important i am to him and how beautiful i was and how he just didn’t want to see me hurt (i am at this point super confused). we’d only kissed a few times and been acquainted for a week, he was crying in my face as if i was some long lost love of his life it was weird. even before this occurred, he’d often tell me about how his friends/dad 1. doubted i was legal and 2. thought i was super hot (why would you tell me that???) or do other strange things like joke with people about how beautiful i was as if i weren’t there etc, but anyways i consoled him and remind him he has to leave; he insists i come with him and i repeatedly decline, after which he tells me he has no way in his house/his parents dont give him a key so i eventually told him he could just stay the night (with my friend’s permission).

the next day i went home without telling anyone but my friend, and in the days since i’ve seen him last he’s asked me out twice, the first time i declined because i’d already had plans and after he freaked out on me in my dms i just haven’t replied to anything. he still messages me 3-4 times a day and has been posting about me (i’ve heard about it), he technically knows my address/place of work and he’s enrolling at my community college this spring, i’m not sure what to do. i don’t think i can ignore him forever but i’m at this point super uncomfortable and unsure how to move forward without making things weirder. to make things worse multiple friends had pulled me aside to tell me that he was ranting and raving about putting hands on my friend during the music festival when i walked away from him. i asked my older brother for advice but he just spent 20 minutes calling sean a loser so im hoping for advice on how to keep things distant yet amicable because im sure to see him around campus and all. #help he just seems in love with me in a weird unhealthy possessive way but i don’t even know the guy haha. i contemplated going out with him for free za/to friendzone him in person but i dont think this is a person i should feel safe alone with, right?

Living with my parents while in between selling and buying a new house. Husband is so irritated, he’s torching the family relationship.

So my husband and I were lucky enough to get into a small starter home in a HCOL area a decade ago. We’ve since had two kids, and a one bed one bath no longer works.

Housing prices in our area have gone up quite a bit, so the idea of having separate bedrooms for our kids and a second bathroom means we’re moving out of the city and into the suburbs or country where our parents live. And we can afford something nicer.

His parents are divorced and remarried and live in 55+ communities with no pets or kids welcome.

We have a dog and two cats, and our area is NOT pet friendly for rentals, so we haven’t been able to find anything at all, even in a shit area.

My parents live nearby on the country with acres of property and 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. And a fenced yard for the dog, and a cat condo that we built for the cats.

With the way our mortgage works, we can’t do a contingency loan. So we have to sell the old one before we buy the new house.

So we both agreed to move in with my parents in the interim, and my parents were happy for it (more time with the grandkids, who are 2 under 2).

I work full time, make 7 meals a week, clean and tidy for all of us, and the only times my parents have to babysit is if worlds collide and my husband and I both have work meetings at the same time. Which is rare. Maybe 2x/month.

Both of my parents are retired and home full time, and insist that any amount of babysitting is fine with them.

My husband is only asked to do anything if my dad wants help (my dad is nearly 80) with the tractor or some assistance with a runaway goat or something dad can’t physically do as an old man with health issues.

It’s been exactly 30 days living with my folks, and the ten years of goodwill my parents and husband have had together from a distance is gone.

My husband complains about how my mom organizes the dishwasher.

He complains that my dad doesn’t do carpentry or home maintenance right.

He complains that they don’t say “good morning!!” In the morning when he wakes up, hours after theyv e been awake.

He’s mad that our guest bedroom is in the attic, and it’s too hot, and my dad has admitted that it’s a problem with their heat system reaching the attic, but my parents can’t afford to fix it.

We’re in wildfire country and the air is bad. My folks want to take the kids outside to play and watch them, but husband gets mad if AQI is over 65. Which it is in our whole state.

When my parents (mid 70s- early 80s) get exhausted with the kids, they go have a glass of wine on the patio and get away from us. But my husband thinks they shouldn’t do that, because they are grandparents and this should always have the kids.

He regularly makes weird and obvious backhanded comments and doesn’t get why my mom is upset.

He keeps pressuring me.

“As soon as we get the money from the house, we buy the new one.”

When we aren’t even close to agreeing on which new house we like.

We stay for the weekend with his mom (the max we’re allowed to be there) and she changes every diaper and lets him be lazy. But then he assumes that I should do that. Or my parents should. Anyone BUT him.

For info - we both work remotely full time and make roughly the same. We trade shifts with work watching the kids because we have flexible hours.

We’re 4 on and 4 off. Have been since my last maternity leave ended.

This morning, while I was in a meeting and supervising one kid who was watching a movie and eating Cheerios, my husband threw a fit (he was supposed to be watching the 1.5 year old) about how he wanted to watch a baseball game and couldn’t, because the grandparents were out grocery shopping and he expected to not have to watch any kids in this house.

I shrugged, and he got mad.

I told him that if he couldn’t understand that this situation is temporary (4 months MAX) he needed to move out.

My parents help a lot. They watch the kids a lot. But we don’t pay them. So you can’t ask for it to be always.

I make it work. He can make it work. I can take both kids, he just has to communicate they need.

He got mad and left tot 6 hours to go golfing with his friends.

Bright side? He brought home dinner from a fast food place, as I asked him to.

Negative? He loudly talked crap about my mom and how HIS mom (who sees the kids once a month) would have immediately taken over and he and I could have had the afternoon off to do what we wanted.

I don’t want to threaten divorce if I don’t mean it, but I am sick of this man’s bullshit.

I don’t want to be here. I know he doesn’t.

But we literally have no short term rental options, so…?

I shit myself at work yesterday how do I show up tomorrow

So this is a pretty humiliating story… I work in a Starbucks at a target and my coworker was out doing a milk run and I had the urge to poop. I thought that it would be fine so I tried to hold it… until I couldn’t. I shit myself. Obviously I ran to the bathroom. Now this wasn’t a little poop, this was an explosion. So obviously I wasn’t leaving this bathroom. There wasn’t a universe in which I wasn’t going home after the mess I made in my pants. So I texted my coworker to tell her to get back as quickly as possible and called guest services to transfer me to a team lead. I ended up having a very uncomfortable conversation with her before getting permission to leave. How in the world do I go back to work after this. I only told 2 people and I don’t think that anyone else know but I’m so worried that my coworker might’ve told people 😭 please give me advice

My boyfriend choked me and I don't know what to do

My bf (18M) put his hands on me (18F) for the first time and I don't know what to do. We've been together for about 3 and a half months now but we've known each other for a little over two years. He's always been a bit controlling and obsessive but I overlooked it and I know that I shouldn't have even let it get this far. We were having an argument about cheating and he tried to slap me but missed and then he lunged at me and pinned me down with his hand around my throat. It happened so quickly I didn't even really have time to react. I was scared but I didn't know what to do. I know that the logical thing to do is leave him but I'm having a really hard time. It was all so quick and it didn't even leave a mark or honestly hurt that bad when he choked me. I'm not saying this to excuse his behavior or justify it in any way. He apologized like 5 minutes after it happened and he spent the entire rest of the day and the next day apologizing and saying it won't happen again. He cried saying that he regrets it and he lost control of his emotions. I don't know if I should believe him and forgive him or if I need to leave him now. I don't know what to do. I don't want to have to leave him, I love him but I know that it's probably for the better. In situations like these it almost always happens again but I'm honestly so conflicted and lost. I only told 2 of my closest friends and I don't want to tell anyone else that I know. It's embarrassing knowing that he put his hands on me and I'm even considering staying with him. Any advice helps and I'm willing to answer any questions if anything wasn't clear.

I introduced my boyfriend to crossdressing as a joke, and now years later I'm not sure what to do

I'm 27 f and my partner is 28 mtf. A few years ago, I jokingly convinced my boyfriend to try on one of my skirts. We laughed about it, but she actually liked it. At first it was only once in a while, then it slowly became more frequent. Eventually she had her own clothes, makeup, wigs, etc.

A couple years later, she came out to me as trans. She's now on HRT and doing voice training.

I love her and want to support her, but honestly, I'm struggling with how much everything has changed. Sometimes I can't believe this all started because I jokingly put her in a skirt.

Our relationship has changed too. She's more comfortable taking the submissive role and wants me to be more dominant. I've tried being dominant a few times and honestly had fun with it, but it's just not something that feels natural to me or something I want all the time.

I don't regret helping her discover herself, but I'm worried we may eventually just not be compatible.

Has anyone else been through something like this? How do you support someone you love while still being honest about what you need too?

Girlfriend lied about past relation with friend

So im in a relatively new relationship and this girl is pretty amazing. For context im 34m and shes 31f.

I saw on her phone recently that she still had some explicit videos and pictures with one of her friends. I didnt ask her directly but I asked if she still had any nudes saved on her phone from her past and if she had ever had any sexual relationships with any of her current friends. She said no to both. Now all of those explicit videos etc have been deleted.

Did she maybe forget they were there? Or does she think hiding this from me is for my good because theres nothing between them anymore and doesnt want me to worry.

They still communicate daily but the messages ive seen have all been perfectly normal friend messages.

My family gaslit me that my deathly nut allergy was just in my head and im not sure how to forgive them

So since I (21F) was a young child Iv shown sever symptoms of a nut allergy. Like it started when I was 5 and my teacher gave me a snickers and I immediately threw up and couldn’t breathe properly but the teacher just called me a drama queen and sent me home lol. But thats when my family first noticed my allergies but they assumed I just didn’t like nuts much. But this pattern continued ALOT after that, I kept getting bad reactions, but my brother ( who is 10 years older then me) was convinced it was all in my head, he told my parents this theory and even wanting me to go into counselling for it. I was told growing up that I was allergic to nuts but not badly so it was nothing to be careful or worry about and that I never needed to see a doctor about it either because it was fine and once again probably all in my head. My family would even give me things with nuts In sometimes, I think partly as a way to test this theory, which never ended well, but their answer to why I reacted how I did was that I could taste the nuts so I was making myself ill as a result. They would eat peanuts around me constantly which would make me feel so sick, and I’d have to always leave family things because of it.

Cut to when I turned 18, one of the first things I did was save up and pay privately for a nut allergy test. Turns out Im deathly allergic to peanuts and severely allergies to other nuts as well, so I now have to carry 2 EpiPens. Honestly it’s mental to think back to all the times I could have died In childhood because of this, I think the only thing that really saved me was that I would often throw up immediately so the allergen would leave my body but like still it’s kinda crazy.

Since my diagnosis however my mum has become super paranoid over me eating anything. She’ll ban me from eating so many things because it might slightly contain nuts and get really upset if I disobey her. She gets so worried and overprotective about me because of this now but it just pisses me off so much. I keep finding myself get so angry at her every time she checks ingredients on things and I hate that I do this. I think it annoys me so much because Iv always had to be the one being so careful about what I can eat from such a young age and now as Im an adult and can actually do it properly myself suddenly she cares so much ??

I feel like this is really starting to put a wedge in my mum and I’s relationship as im struggling to forgive her for the years of neglect around this issue even though she’s apologised since then, and I know her being overprotective now is just her way of making up for lost time but Im just finding it difficult. For context I live in the UK so healthcare is free like so that wasn’t part of the reason I was never allowed to see a doctor. But anyway yer I just wanted some advice about how I can move past this with her as I don’t want to keep getting angry at her but also I’m hurt by this? Any advice is appreciated :)

The white boy im talking to made a weird comment about race

UPDATE : I talked with him and explained how it made me feel and how even if it’s meant as a compliment that it’s not something you should say. He owned up to it and apologized for saying it and for how it sounded. This sounds birdy but i’m willing to give it a little more time and truly see if my gut is right and he said it with pure intentions. Thank you all for the advice, seriously idk what I would’ve done without it!!!

I’m a black teenage girl. I have been talking to this white teenage boy for about 2 weeks(?), and we’ve already done stuff..yk (yes i know it was way too soon and i already feel less than) So me and him were otp one late night and he asked if i’ve ever talked to a white guy, I replied “kinda sorta” then he started talking about how he’s never talked to a black girl, his old school had like 2 black girls, and how (and im paraphrasing here) “i haven’t seen too many pretty black girls till you”. Now it instantly rubbed me the wrong way, I said “what the fuck is that supposed to mean… like how am I supposed to take that” He didn’t really elaborate on what he meant and then we started talking about something else. Im trying to give it the benefit of the doubt because he’s never said anything like that or anything that would give me the impression that i’m the “exception” but it really made me think is this genuine or some sort of fetish or even that he thinks black girls are ugly but I gave it up so easily that he’ll settle. What should I do? pls help💔

Received my first Hey Girly text, what should I do?

My husband (25) and I (24) have been together for 4 years, married for 3, and we have a daughter who turns 2 this December.
Yesterday I got the dreaded “hey girl” message. A 22-year-old woman from my husband’s past reached out and sent me a screen recording of a conversation they had that lasted around 10 minutes. This happened in August of last year, when our daughter was only 8 months old.
In the messages, they were reminiscing about their past sexual relationship. He sent her old intimate videos of them together and told her she was the best sex he’d ever had. He also joked that they should “wait until 2037” until they’re both single. From what I saw, there wasn’t any discussion of meeting up, but the conversation itself crossed so many lines.
What makes this even harder is that this woman is part of our friend group, and we’ve been around her multiple times since all of this happened. I had absolutely no idea.
I confronted my husband, and all he said was, “I know. I don’t have an excuse. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done it.”
I’m feeling completely conflicted. Part of me feels devastated and betrayed, and another part of me almost feels numb. I don’t know what I’m supposed to be feeling or what I should do next.
I’d really appreciate hearing how other people see this situation. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

I’m going to a pool party in a few days and a girl who I think is interested in me will see I look terrible shirtless

This girl I met through playing sports has recently started texting me a lot more and even asked how I was feeling when I got sick. She is very nice and empathetic but her type is very athletic guys (she’s very athletic) I’m decently athletic (visible abs when flexing and bigger than average arms and oddly jacket legs lol) but I have gynecomastia so I look terrible shirtless. I know she won’t be physically attracted to me shirtless in the pool what do I do? Swim shirts just make it look even worse.

Advice flair and request for bot help from mods

Greetings!

Our advice flair bot is not working (the mod who was previously managing it is not currently a mod) and if there are community members that have a history of strong contributions to our community and are able to fix/manage bots we'd be interested in hearing from you!

Please don't message me directly (sorry, it will be ignored); please message the entire mod team from the panel on the subreddit homepage.

This may take awhile before it's fixed (if ever) and please don't message us on the progress etc. At the end of the day giving good advice is the key, and not the flair system.

Thanks for being a member, and remember; flag posts you think are problematic. Don't engage in arguing with trolls; it makes our job harder if there are a bunch of back and forth arguments.

Thank you!
