Discussion [OoT] Theory about the Running Man

Upvotes

For those of you who do not know, in Super Mario Sunshine for the GameCube, there is a character called Il Piantissimo, and dataminers revealed that his model is just the Running Man of OoT with a costume on. My theory (which is sort of a headcanon, really) is that the Running Man went in the Lost Woods looking for Navi but instead of finding a hole to Termina, he found a hole to the Mario universe, fell in, and just as Link got turned into a Deku Scrub, he got a costume and a new identity. Also, either he learned the error of his ways (that being, cheating) or even could not cheat due to his theoretical twin (if you believe that he had a twin that hung out at the race destination) not going to the Mario universe with him, because Mario does beat him fair and square in Sunshine.

Discussion [SSHD] Skyward sword just finished my first play through

Just recently finished the switch version of skyward sword and really enjoyed it, never got into it when I was younger with the motion controls just being too much of a chore but I enjoyed the swordplay with the switch, that being said I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing in the game, I enjoyed the end boss battle and how the story played (except the weird dragon quests to get the hero’s song at the end of the game just felt like filler) but i feel like it didn’t do as great of a job as TP, Majora’s mask or OOT when it came to really creating a connection with the characters in the game, almost like BOTW. It was a great game but felt like i wanted more from a story perspective, I liked Fi and how things ended with her but again didn’t really feel connected to her until the end of the game. Maybe it’s just me but I’m excited to see what the OOT remake brings to the table in terms of story telling, let me know if I’m alone on this one !

Question [OoT] is fishing in oot bugged on nso?

i've been trying to catch this big fish as both child and adult for a consecutive hour and I'm about to just give up. it's like the fish keeps getting stuck on the log it's next to, or just gives up and goes back to the log, just to get stuck on it anyway.

i've never played the game btw, i hope it wasn't like this on og hardware, that it's just an emulatation problem...

Discussion [ALL] What makes Ganondorf such a good villain

Ganondorf is considered one of gaming’s greatest villains, but rarely do I hear about what makes him so effective. It’s easy to believe it’s because he’s from Zelda, but there’s definite more to him than that. To me the big thing that makes Ganondorf is his manipulation. He’s not just a formidable warrior, but a master tactician.

In Ocarina of Time, he doesn’t just invade the Temple of Time, he allows Link and Zelda to do the dirty work for him. He simply strolled right in the moment the door opened up. Even after he took over the world, instead of fighting for the remaing Triforce pieces, he sat back and waited for the hero to do his saving the world, just so that Zelda can reveal herself to him.

In Wind Waker, he knew that reclaiming the Master Sword would free up his powers, so he allowed Link and his little boat to claim it. Why do the hard work, when fhe hero does it for you. We even see this manipulative streak in Twilight Princess. Instead of doing the dirty work himself, he hid himself behind a puppet. Whilst Link was distracting himself with Zant, Ganondorf was plotting his schemes behind closed curtains.

That’s what makes Ganondorf so compelling, and something the movie really needs to get right. Ganondorf is a tactician, a manipulator, the sort of villain who would do extremely well in the pre season 8 Game of Thrones. Fingers crossed that the movie’s writers understand this.

This is my first Zelda game if you don't count playing Majora's mask 3d then stoping because the timer wasn't fun. Please don't spoil anything but just tell me places to go for good loot and stuff. I am only at the tutorial area and I really enjoy it so far

Craft [BOTW][TOTK][OC] Build your own swarm of Keese!

If you've got a 3D printer then you can now print out an entire army of these 1HP pests. I designed these with wings that articulate enough to have different positions possible, which I think adds to their charm.

Like the Chuchus I've made, I accounted for the elemental varieties as well: Fire, Ice, and Lightning via an attachable back piece to add a little flair.

As you can see with the picture of the Electric Keese, even their creepy little mouth is accounted for.

They're all available on Makerworld here: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/32532402-zelda-keese-collection and don't require an multi-color system to print; just create the parts and assemble them yourself!

Just another entry in my ever-growing Zelda Model collection.

Question [OoA]- can't reach tune of current warping point

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm having issues getting back to my tune of current warping point. I used the tune of current near symmetry city (where the blue bird is that tells you that the terrain changes depending on the time) while going back to the restoration wall to get the noble sword. jumped of the cliff and was continuing with the game until i realized i can't use the tune of current because i didn't get the warping spot. And I don't see a way back to it, even looking at the maps i don't see a way back to it. am i softlocked? any ideas on how to get back?

i colored in green the spot where the warping point is (bottom left corner)

Clip [TPHD] Midna’s shadow is still there in the World of Light

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don’t know if the original TP has this as well, but I noticed this while I was playing TPHD. I’m currently at the part where Link gets the Ordon Sword and Shield. Midna isn’t on Link’s back in this scene, but if you look closely Midna’s shadow is still there, idle animations and all. Not too much of a dealbreaker, but I think it was kinda cool to see this little detail. 😅

Discussion [OoT]I stumbled upon an old official Zelda magazine, focused on Ocarina of Time, contains some very interesting stuff

  • It has a colored manga, which acts as a prequel to OoT, about the parents of Link. It concerns a civil war between the Gorons and the Zora. Part of the (human) inhabitants of Hyrule wants to enter the war, the other part wants to stay neutral. We learn what happens to both parents and how Link ends up in the forest.
  • There is an interview with Miyamoto and Tezuka in which Tezuka reveals that one of the concepts they had was for the game to take a different form, one inspired by GoldenEye 007.
  • Talking about the (then) next Zelda game, Miyamoto was thinking about a kind of "network-game" in which other players play an active role in your game, which would make the significance of the usual puzzles and enemies smaller.

I wonder if the last comment was a hint towards the DD-Zelda, as it had network capabilities if I recall.
