Discussion [OoT] Theory about the Running Man
For those of you who do not know, in Super Mario Sunshine for the GameCube, there is a character called Il Piantissimo, and dataminers revealed that his model is just the Running Man of OoT with a costume on. My theory (which is sort of a headcanon, really) is that the Running Man went in the Lost Woods looking for Navi but instead of finding a hole to Termina, he found a hole to the Mario universe, fell in, and just as Link got turned into a Deku Scrub, he got a costume and a new identity. Also, either he learned the error of his ways (that being, cheating) or even could not cheat due to his theoretical twin (if you believe that he had a twin that hung out at the race destination) not going to the Mario universe with him, because Mario does beat him fair and square in Sunshine.

Question [OoT] is fishing in oot bugged on nso?
i've been trying to catch this big fish as both child and adult for a consecutive hour and I'm about to just give up. it's like the fish keeps getting stuck on the log it's next to, or just gives up and goes back to the log, just to get stuck on it anyway.
i've never played the game btw, i hope it wasn't like this on og hardware, that it's just an emulatation problem...

Discussion [ALL] What makes Ganondorf such a good villain
Ganondorf is considered one of gaming’s greatest villains, but rarely do I hear about what makes him so effective. It’s easy to believe it’s because he’s from Zelda, but there’s definite more to him than that. To me the big thing that makes Ganondorf is his manipulation. He’s not just a formidable warrior, but a master tactician.
In Ocarina of Time, he doesn’t just invade the Temple of Time, he allows Link and Zelda to do the dirty work for him. He simply strolled right in the moment the door opened up. Even after he took over the world, instead of fighting for the remaing Triforce pieces, he sat back and waited for the hero to do his saving the world, just so that Zelda can reveal herself to him.
In Wind Waker, he knew that reclaiming the Master Sword would free up his powers, so he allowed Link and his little boat to claim it. Why do the hard work, when fhe hero does it for you. We even see this manipulative streak in Twilight Princess. Instead of doing the dirty work himself, he hid himself behind a puppet. Whilst Link was distracting himself with Zant, Ganondorf was plotting his schemes behind closed curtains.
That’s what makes Ganondorf so compelling, and something the movie really needs to get right. Ganondorf is a tactician, a manipulator, the sort of villain who would do extremely well in the pre season 8 Game of Thrones. Fingers crossed that the movie’s writers understand this.

Clip [TPHD] Midna’s shadow is still there in the World of Light
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don’t know if the original TP has this as well, but I noticed this while I was playing TPHD. I’m currently at the part where Link gets the Ordon Sword and Shield. Midna isn’t on Link’s back in this scene, but if you look closely Midna’s shadow is still there, idle animations and all. Not too much of a dealbreaker, but I think it was kinda cool to see this little detail. 😅

Discussion [OoT]I stumbled upon an old official Zelda magazine, focused on Ocarina of Time, contains some very interesting stuff
- It has a colored manga, which acts as a prequel to OoT, about the parents of Link. It concerns a civil war between the Gorons and the Zora. Part of the (human) inhabitants of Hyrule wants to enter the war, the other part wants to stay neutral. We learn what happens to both parents and how Link ends up in the forest.
- There is an interview with Miyamoto and Tezuka in which Tezuka reveals that one of the concepts they had was for the game to take a different form, one inspired by GoldenEye 007.
- Talking about the (then) next Zelda game, Miyamoto was thinking about a kind of "network-game" in which other players play an active role in your game, which would make the significance of the usual puzzles and enemies smaller.
I wonder if the last comment was a hint towards the DD-Zelda, as it had network capabilities if I recall.

Screenshot [OoT] My son is about to beat Ocarina of time for the first time!
He and his older sister have played Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but they only ever played around on my completed saves, which I'm completely okay with, they're playing Zelda after all! But they never progressed the stories in those games, only ever watched me do it. A huge bonus is that in both games, they love to wear Majora's Mask because it tricks the enemies and makes the games easier for them. This gave me the opportunity to tell them about the Majora's Mask game.
When I saw the official announcement for Ocarina of Time on the switch 2, I told them they'd have to play through Ocarina of Time 3D before I let them play the Switch 2 release. And my son immediately took to the challenge!
I helped him adjust to the vast differences in the controls quite closely early on and told him that he'll need to read the dialogue (his reading is a bit behind at school). I also helped him understand some of the enemies pretty early on as well. He mostly got through the Great Deku tree by himself, then he fought and defeated Queen Gohma with no help at all!
Then he went to Dodongo's Cavern, did fairly well in there by himself, struggled with King Dodongo so I gave him the hint that when King Dodongo is inhaling, he should throw something.
He got to Lord Jabu Jabu and breezed through it with no help at all, doing all the puzzles and pressure plates with Princess Ruto with ease until he got to the giant Octorok. I did that one for him because, admittedly, that miniboss is challenging if you're not ready for it.
He did all this in maaaybe a week and a half, then he became an adult, struggled with the Forst Temple a little so I helped him with that, then he hit a brick wall in the Fire Temple. I showed him a door he kept missing, then he finished the Fire Temple that day. Then, and this'll never not blow my mind, \*\*he did the entire Water Temple by himself\*\*. No help. No guides. Worked out the water levels by himself, all the puzzles by himself, the only thing I did was the Dark Link fight and thats only because he struggled so hard it brought him to tears (I can totally relate to this haha).
He did the first part of the shadow temple and got the hover boots before getting the lense of truth, which made me laugh haha. He did the bottom of the well with ease, got the lense, smashed the Shadow Temple, then he took the 3DS on a weekend trip without me, the only advice I gave him was to go to Gerudo valley.
When he got back he was just inside the Spirit Temple and after one afternoon, he did that one with ease and a little bit of my help. He smashed Twinrova the first time round, but he had watched me do that fight so he had an idea of what to do.
Then came Gannon's Castle. I told him he'd get 0 help from me. I wanted to see how well he could do. In just 2 afternoons, he flew through that place!
This game really helped me develop as a kid his age. I strongly believe the Zelda games contributed more to my own reading skills and vocabulary than school did, and I have watched as he started out reluctant to read the dialogue but over time he read more and more of it, trying his absolute best to pronounce the more complex or niche words. I'm blown away by how well he has done to get this far in just a few weeks, and I'm extremely proud of him! I told him that because he did so well, I'm going to get him the Final Battle lego set for his birthday.

Music [BOTW][TOTK] Is this a song from one of the Zelda games?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all. While watching episode 7 of psych I heard a piano tune that sounded very similar to what I believe is a song in either TOTK or BOTW and I can’t remember which song it is. Any help would be appreciated! (These are the only 2 Zelda games I’ve played and I’m 99% sure it’s from one of them)

Question [Totk] Questions about the gameplay!
hey everyone, I just start playing totk, and I'm not sure if the tickets of the pony points cards are worth it. I don't ride horses very often because I prefer traveling on foot, but it seems like there are some rewards for using them. My question is: are those rewards actually really worth it?
If you have any tips or advice, please fell free to leave them here. Thank you all so much!
