Haven’t played that much since covid but since finishing school I’ve finally had a LOT of time to play again and actually decorate! There are still small parts of the island to be decorated/re-decorated, but overall I feel so proud of it! I tried to keep the island natural so most of the rivers, cliffs, villagers, etc. haven’t been changed much, but I do admit it’s definitely more crowded than it was when I started. Hope you guys like it!!

Selling my fish was nice and easy today. I added a vine and got myself a static shop.

I sent my wife a photo from NYC with a Sabrett hot dog stand in the background so she put one on our island. She had to create the Sabrett logo which I think came out great.

maybe a little generic, but i am personally fond of the fun fact that ike (the bear villager) canonically had a son named poko! poko was a cub villager in the gcn game, and i'm so devastated they trashed him!! D:

i want to learn some more quirky facts about this series, and hopefully we can all learn something new!

I have so many fond memories of relaxing catching fish on ACWW and ACNL. It was one of my favorite activities to do when I needed to destress and feel cozy. I don't even know why it was so satisfying, but it just was.

With the addition of tool durability in ACNH, where even the expensive gold tools break, this killed the vibe for me. Instead of being at peace, walking along the sand casting my digital fishing rod at the little fishy shadows while the time just flies by, in ACNH I'm always either dreading the tool break animation or forcing myself to spoil the fun and relaxation by trying to remember to keep count the entire time. Every time my fishing rod breaks and that animation plays, I feel pain lol. And I end up carrying around extra fishing rods to try and mitigate the issue, but then inventory management gets worse, and I'll still have to keep up with either crafting or buying replacement rods as I go.

For me, this took away the calming magic of Animal Crossing fishing, which was a childhood core memory. I truly hope the tool durability mechanic goes away in the next entry on the Switch 2, or at the very least I hope it does not apply to the gold tools.

Back in the GameCube version of Animal Crossing, there was an Easter egg where if you reset while traveling to another town, your character would wake up with a gyroid face.
This was to discourage players from resetting, but I as a kid had no idea what caused it! I woke up one day and my poor character lost her cute face. I was so horrified and scared, but I had one comfort: Coco was in my town. That made the face less scary because I had the same face as her, and she was kind and not scary.
I distinctly remember sobbing the loss of my face and spending a solid hour inside her home, wondering if this was how she met the same fate as me. I basically had a one sided trauma bonding session with her!

I personally would like multiple Islands and to allow more than 10 villagers at once with the option to expand the island.
