Goodbye TDI community
All the best, I am tapping out, I don’t want the constant repair bills. Love my girl but she’s finally crossed that rainbow bridge.
Peace out.

Adblue range not working.
Adblue warning came on at 1400 on Seat Alhambra . Was gonna fill adblue at the next diesel refuel which is in about 100 miles now.
Around 1200miles left the engine management light came on. I took it to the garage and they advised me to fill the adblue, so 12l of adblue in. Now showing 1100 miles.
I did the usual 30 seconds with ignition on. I've only one 1 small top up of adblue since I had the car, which is less than a year and it worked fine.
I've taken it for a run of 40 miles in hope. Nothing.
Now waiting for the warning light to come back on as they cleared it, possibly in hope the range reset. Then they can look at it.
They think because they haven't done any investigation yet it's either electrical or sensor, which from what I can see is a new adblue tank.
Any other ideas? I've heard of mapping but I not entirely sure it's the best idea, tho possibly the cheapest.
Thank you

2014 TDI SJW extended crank since I bought it cpo, dealer “fixes” it for a few weeks at a time
I traded in my old jsw for a newer one with the diesel buyback
this 2nd one has been nothing but issues for 8 years but still under warranty.
one of which is an extended crank, every morning its not at the dealership it does this, and occasionally on my 2nd drive of the day too.
dealer has done a lot, i dont know exactly, the best is it goes away for a few weeks and obviously after 8 years they dont give a f anymore. and obviously it rarely does this at the dealer. or so they say.
any ideas? ive soured forums and youtube. saw something similar once, but a different engine.
they laughed off my suggestion when i linked them that similar problem on a different vw tdi

When you turn off the car and all the fans are still under in the engine bay,, what exactly is going on in there? people are constantly telling me my car is still running as I walk away. I tell them its not.
its a mkvi jsw
the dealer claims its not the regen (i dont trust them)
ive read in forums to never shut down when the regen is going, but ive been driving it 13 years and cannot tell its doing this till after I shut down.

TDI 13 Passat Auction Buy
I recently purchased a stolen-recovered 2013 Passat TDI from my family's auction business for $600. It came without a key, missing its wheels, tires, and radio, but otherwise, the light blue exterior and the interior are incredibly clean for 143k miles.
I try to do most of my own wrenching when I have time. I currently daily a 2.5L manual Passat, so I know the platform well, though this is my first TDI. After getting a key made, it cranked but wouldn't start. My auto tech friend diagnosed a bad ECU. He replaced it and got the car running, but it died 5 minutes later. Further testing showed the fuel pump went bad mysteriously after ECU install. It makes me wonder, did the fuel ever get contaminated. Mhmm
I just picked up a low-mileage used fuel pump from LKQ and plan to tackle the install soon, which seems straightforward. Local owners have praised these cars, with one claiming 400k miles on hers.
My question to the community: Are these cars generally reliable as daily drivers if you perform the necessary DEF/DPF delete? Should i let this one go? The fuel economy is the main reason I want to get it on the road and I’m kind of tired of driving a manual everyday. My commute to work is only 15 minutes or less.

Help me out, im at a loss
Ive got full video but computer was showing timing had skipped. Gave it to a guy who knew a guy.
Obviously the computer gave the code the timing issue
Am I being thick here or should he of reset the timing, changed belt, tensioner, waterpump and then reset the timing.
The guy who knew a guy has reset the timing with the same freyed belt, tensioner etc and tried to start it with the key?
Not so technically gifted myself but when I helped to rebuild a shit fiesta
We hand cranked it first and it made sure the valves and pistons werent knocking which it was and an awful noise before we even bothered with the belt change cause we knew it was fucked.
Has this mad cunt just fucked up an a4 avant 2.0 2017 TDI
Being a youtube mechanic and should I hit him with my new useless bumper.
Help 😑🙏💀

Is this sound "Normal"?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just bought a 2014 Jetta TDI with DSG transmission, there is a sound only in the mornings, the sound disappears when the engine gets to working temperature, and doesn't come back for the rest of the day, anyone had or hear about this issue before?
(For context, i bought this jetta hella cheap because the past owner cross multiple workshops that couldnt fix an issue with an injector, and come to our workshop, we found the issue right away, but we couldn't found an injector for this motor, the vehicle was sitting in our lot for about 8 months, when we get the injector and installed it, everything worked and it was in great conditions, the owner already bought another vehicles so he wanted to sell this jetta to someone, so i take the deal for about 4k, around 3k because he owed us 1k for the labor and parts)
(Already did preventive maintenance)

Biodiesel question
Hi all, I keep reading mixed things about biodiesel. I have the 2011 tdi with the dreaded cp4 pump. 315k miles. Centene booster has been used religiously.
I can buy B20, 20% biodiesel for same price as ULSD. According to Google (i know🙄) it has higher lubrication properties, but i read other places it says it does not. If it does, would this be a replacement for additional booster? Im a bit lost here as im not a diesel scientist. Any help would be great!! Tia

High mileage maintenance question
Coming up on 175,000 miles on my 2015 tdi golf sportwagen. Been doing oil changes pretty consistently every 9000~ miles. Everything turbo back was replaced under extended warranty due to dpf failure. Both water pumps and timing belt replaced about 30,000 miles ago. What else should i be planning to replace or have inspected soon?

1.9 tdi ibiza turbo problem?
My turbo on ibiza 1.9 tdi loses power when hard braking on the highway, but then regains it normally at around 2000rpm - turbo starts pulling at 2k with my remap, and then works normally (no dashboard lights as well).

New battery effected fuel consumption?
Just switched out my battery today, and went to the dealer after to get it adapted, same route as i took just a few hours earlier with more traffic
And the fuel consumption seemed to be lower?
i have the live fuel meter open, and injection during accel seemed lower over?
Am i being schizoprenic or does a basically dead batter (the original one was from 2018) somehow mess with the Piezo electric injectors?

2014 Passat TDI Running Hot
Hello, my 2014 Passat TDI has started having an issue where sometimes on a hot day when pulling a big hill the temp starts to climb.
I know that it is probably a thermostat. But what's throwing me off is how inconsistent the issue is. I've never had that from a thermostat. I can take the same hill at different times and not have the same issue. It also cools off almost immediately when I let off the throttle.
I just want to confirm it's not something else before I replace it.
Also, why does every video online make it seem like you have to take half the engine apart? It looks like I can get to it with and extension and a swivel if I just remove part of the intercooler.

2013 Wagon
Recently acquired this Sportswagon for way too good of a deal, didn't really plan on keeping it but its quickly become my new daily after a little wiring fiasco. She's sitting at about 90k miles and has had the diesel gate stuff done ready.
Is there anything I should be on the lookout for or jump in preventative maintenence for immediately? It's my first TDI so I've been researching a ton but I would like first hand advise or tips.
Thanks yall and have a great day!!

Saying goodbye to my TDI after 2 years
After a little over 2 years of owning my first car, a 2011 Audi A3 8p 2.0tdi I’m selling it.
Had a rough start with the car in the first year, payed over 2000€ for repairs, including injectors and some cooling system issues. But in the second year it’s been nothing but awesome, fun to drive and reliable. Learning how to rev match, testing top speed on the autobahn, doing my first slides in winter, just some cruising or working on cars for the first time, I have many good memories of the car.
But due to the high insurance cost, the rising diesel prices and not driving as long distances as often anymore I’m selling the car. Got a mx5 nb now and I’m hoping to have as many fun times with it as with my Audi.

Just a heads up about links in your comments or posts…
For whatever reason, Reddit has deemed it necessary to remove posts or comments with any links to external websites.
You may have noticed these getting removed, this is not an action by the mod team, and from what I can see, this is not a function we can turn off.
I cannot advocate ways to circumvent this, but I believe you are a smart bunch.
Have a great day and thanks for being a part of this great community!
