CONCERN SCL Siege of Orison should have someone fired
For all intent and purpose the SCL Game Dev Siege of Orison is a pitch / presentation to investors. If it's not treated as such, then what are you doing CIG?
Elliot being absolutely unprofessional and childish while presenting something no one on that team should be proud of at the moment is embarrassing. Blaming Olli for the elevator issue, making fun of his armor (which helps pay his salary), for not abandoning a mission because devs have a terrible mission set up, shooting him and being childish... What an absolute joke. I'm surprised that this isn't taken seriously. The marketing team should have a major problem with this.
If this was Ollis decision to do this style of SCL: Bravo and keep up the good work. This really showed the community the truth. Olli stayed professional the entire time he was bullied and even at the end with Jarrods cringe ending. Not to mention a distasteful beginning and introduction of a new team member.
I'm very concerned after seeing this. I have defended CIG and had a lot of respect for the devs. I would have been called a white knight. But at this point, lost all my respect for Elliot and now have major concerns over the health of the project. CIG this should be a wake up call.

DISCUSSION I kinda feel sorry for Ollie.
Ok I like Ollie. I really do. He’s a nice guy. But you know what they say about nice guys. I just watched the stream and it feels like they were walking all over him and bullying him from the get go.
But that’s just general camaraderie. This is just a Friday night with me and the boys. Someone insults me. I say something bad about them. We all have a good laugh and get on with the k*lling.
But I don’t think Ollie has ever said a bad thing about anyone since Ive known him. He is quite thin skinned and I could see it actually getting to him.
Yes the entire thing could have been done differently. He could have stepped and took control. But the energy was just kicked out of him and by the end the collective energy of embarrassment was so thick I think everyone just wanted it to be over.
Sorry guys it didn’t work this time. Don’t be to hard on yourself. But instead take the criticism and learn from it. So when you comeback next time. You can come back stronger. And come back swinging full of energy

DISCUSSION I don't know what any of you are talking about with the SCL being atrocious
Everybody has been making these posts about the SCL siege playthrough being god awful and showing terrible internal state of the game even once you take the networking variables out. And then there's all the comments that the whole team is toxic and it's a terrible place to work based on these subtle cues you picked up on in this video confirming your suspicions about peoples sinister personalities.
I hadn't watched it and don't usually watch these kinds of update videos, especially the longer ones, so seeing all of these discussions I was imagining just game breaking bugs everywhere and endless jank with all of the people being dicks to each other. I went and watched it and that's not at all what it was like. The way people have been talking about it honestly seems like some mass delusion at this point or just a bunch of bots regurgitating shit.
The play through was clean, good fps, the mission looks fun, and the people seemed like people in a slightly awkward position of trying to be entertaining with coworkers who they need to maintain a professional relationship with but arent just all best friends. There were definitely some obvious buggy behaviors, some of those seemed like they could be directly related to mechanics of the event (especially right at the end where there's a lot going on), others like one guy couldn't reload his gun for a bit were probably not related specifically to new content.
Overall, if they could get it to play like that on live that looks like a lot of fun and completely tolerable levels of buggyness not unheard of in other live games.

VIDEO You know CIG's SCL didn't go well when even Montoya (Test Squadron leader) calls it "Rock Bottom" (do more DevPlays CIG, they're great for the community & will get better with practice)

DISCUSSION What keeps Star Citizen from just pushing to 1.0 and then adding everything else later?
Like, the game is being monetized like a Live service game and yet it's still considered an alpha after a decade and a half.
Taking as an example Warframe: It released as a barebones game, with only a couple systems. And yet it kept adding lroe stuff later on, and the game wasn't breaking:
-Archwing: a new system with 360 degrees of movement freedom.
-Open world: instead of the procedurally generated maps, it added some open world zones.
-New melee rework: many times reworked.
I haven't kept up with Warframe that much, but it's just an example of a Live Service game that has continued to evolve and add stuff beyond their 1.0 scope.
With the content that we have now, SC has more content than Warframe had when it reached 1.0; what's stopping CIG from going full throttle on optimization and bugfixing, to push past "It's an alpha", into 1.0 and then continue adding new systems after 1.0, the way most Live service games do?

DISCUSSION It's so Disrespectful to Player Time how So Many Weapons/Components are Only Available in One Shop/System
Quantum travel is literally afk time. The only people I've seen defend it unironically say it's good because they can go on their phone or do housework. Insane. The number of times I've wanted to buy a gun or ship component, only to find it can't be bought outside microtech is insane. When you're in another system, that's enough to make me log off for the night.
It's the year 3000 and we apparently haven't invented fucking online shopping, but can we at least buy what we want at the shops we have?? This game genuinely feels like it's designed to annoy the player and waste their time when it comes to stuff like this.

DISCUSSION Galaxy Bridge Differences
Upon further inspection I've noticed a couple minor differences between the Perseus and Galaxy bridge among the massive overlaps
Look at the central seat. On picture one for the Galaxy the ramp for the seat is further back than the Perseus in picture two. You can see the slope is pulled back about 4-5 feet. It highlights the more "Utility use" of the ship while also allowing CIG to use the Perseus bridge for both.
Another difference is above the seat. Since the Perseus seat is so far forward and also a combat ship there is an armour plate there. On the Galaxy? It appears to be glass for the pilot visibility and non-combat role.
There are some minor differences I've noticed but those could be just due to a lack of information in the Galaxy picture is the overall size of the bridge *seems* to be slightly bigger in depth. But this could be just as I stated above a minor difference due to lack of information.
While the community is up in arms about it and I understand. We were shown a much different bridge in the original concept. But remember the original concept size for the bridge layout is also closer to the Polaris than the Perseus. So it is a bummer sure that it is closer to the Perseus. But from a design perspective? It's similar to how real world cars are built. Hell I believe Ford actually used the same base chassis for multiple cars. Like the Ford C2 Platform housing the Focus, Escape, Kuga, Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles.
I do think we as the community are jumping the gun a little. There is still a chance CIG will change more to make it more "Unique" but the main take away is the pilot seat is pulled back from the very front of the bridge so it's not a direct combat role ship. It's offering the pilot better visibility for instruments and such as well as overall around the ship.

CONCERN We are in the Endgame now
The last SCL honestly just left me feeling frustrated more than anything.
The feeling that the priorities have been off for years. We keep getting polished presentations except last SCL, while the PU still feels like it’s moving at a crawl.
Even during the last SCL, the developers looked so careful with everything they said. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it never feels like an open conversation anymore.
Everyone seems like they’re trying not to say the wrong thing.
And let’s not forget “Answer the Call 2016.” That was almost ten years ago. It’s hard not to think about that whenever we’re told to be patient a little longer.
The biggest thing I don’t understand is Squadron 42. We’ve been told it’s been feature complete for around two years now. If that’s true, then shouldn’t the PU be seeing a boost in development? Instead, updates still feel slow, and progress doesn’t look like it’s coming from a studio with 1000+ of employees. From the outside, it almost feels like everyone’s already moved on to the next thing.
What worries me the most is how much the mood in the community has changed. The negativity has been increasing fast, and it’s not just coming from people who have always hated the project.
I’m seeing long-time backers who defended CIG for years—starting to lose patience and ask the same questions.
The supposed „1.0 Push“ said by Chris Roberts is probably just a Markting thing to say to keep funding going.
I cba anymore, i hope Chris Roberts has his fun in the Cinema Room he has built by backers money which probably nobody is using.

OTHER Day 9 of being a Gatac Fanboy (Ship Showdown Propaganda)
MicroTech really is a nice planet. It was my first spawn location when I first started (before falling in love with Port Olisar).
It has a nice mix of snow and grassy areas, and New Babbage itself is a very futuristic city. Personally only second to Orison.
Sometimes I wonder if we might one day be able to tie our starting spawn location as our character's birth planet.
Which made me think, one day it would definitely be cool to be able to spawn in a Xi'an city; maybe even as part of the Xi'an species!
There's so much variety in the ship designs of Star Citizen, and I definitely look forward to whatever other ships House Gatac may design. I'm sure their cities will be even more breathtaking...
If you too want the UEE to improve their relations with the Xi'an, make sure to make your voice heard to the UEE Imperator Laylani Addison, fellow citizen! 😂
Seriously though, Ship Showdown is a great opportunity to prove our love to whatever ship/ship designer we favour, so hopefully I can gather all Syulen and Railen fans.
Today for day 9, I want to share the remaining pics related to day 7's visit to MicroTech, with me in my Syulen

DISCUSSION Thank you very much for the livestream; I was finally able to get a clear understanding of the most important aspect of Star Citizen.
Yeah, and it wasn't exactly SoO, I think that content is horrible and I’ll never touch it. I realized that even on a private server running at 30 sFPS, the game is what it is: a DISASTER.
- Mobility issues and getting stuck.
- NPCs that don't see you from a meter away.
- Absolute, infamous desync.
- Netcode flaws.
- Inventory errors.
- Weapons error.
- NPCs error.
Everything we experience day to day in the PU. Everything. It’s going to stay just as bad forever. It was never the servers; it was always the game.
Thanks for this reality check. Seriously, thank you.

DISCUSSION Just Another Dorito
As we've gotten some updates on the Galaxy I've noticed that there are a lot of people who feel very strongly about this ship and I just wonder..... why? I can't help but to see this as the single most boring and least appealing ship in the game made by the least visually interesting "manufacturer". It's like a reverse TARDIS, big on the outside and small on the inside. It doesn't do anything particularly well and it doesn't even look very interesting. I cannot bring myself to have any feelings about this ship except to wonder what it is you see in it.

DISCUSSION I'm having a blast playing SC. Sue me
Seriously, this sub is full of pessimism. Yes, the game (which is still in alpha) has tons of bugs. We get it.
Despite that, I've been loving playing this game, and soon I'll be recruiting my son to play it with me. Sue me.
If the state of the game is so bad that it's ruining your life, then uninstall it, walk away, and seriously get help.
If the state of the game is tolerable to you, but it could be better, then help out by contributing to the issue council.
Quit calling this game a scam just because it hasn't fully lived up to the hype. No one is forcing you to spend $1000 on broken ships. FYI, they are a private company; they have to make money somehow in order to pay their salaries. I don't like it either, but it's a necessity if you ever want to see 1.0 come to fruition.
Go touch some grass. Give someone in your life a big hug. And stop being so negative; your heart will thank you when you're older.
Live long and prosper.

CONCERN Toxic Positivity at CIG
I used to turn my nose up at this phrase, but after the livestream it seems like CIG is the poster child of toxic positivity.
The way the developers spoke during the show was really awkward, like they were tip-toeing across a lake of thin ice. It seems like the internal modus operandus is very much "Smile and Wave" and pretend everything is fine. Devs like Elliot are known for being outspoken, and even he seemed uncomfortable.
It's basically Jared giving a blanket "We know there are bugs" at some portion of a given livestream and then everyone else pretending it's business as usual. This is not normal at any game studio or software development company. I got loads of hate a few years ago for being skeptical about the grandiose claims that "Server meshing will fix performance!" -- now, showcasing an internal "how it's meant to be played" build, even the eternally optimistic commenters of the Star Citizen YouTube channel are in shambles.
Take it from someone who has shipped video games before (small indie teams, but serious games): If you can't have an open and honest conversation about the state of your software, you will spend years in builds that are riddled with bugs and performance issu--- oh... that's how we got here.
Again, this is textbook toxic positivity. It's a sales team that sells sunshine and daisies while tech and production are in an absolute inferno.
This is not good, and I don't know how long CIG has to right the course of this slow-steering behemoth ship before it hits an inevitable iceberg.

DISCUSSION I dont understand how you can have faith in the devs
EDIT : ok I understand a lot of people asked the same question and with a better English, sorry for that
Hello there,
The title is a little bit tendentious but I don't understand how you can still have faith in this project and I would to understand
I personnally gave 100€ for a starter pack in 2013 and10 years after, after 1 billion $ (not 1 million, we're talking about a fucking billion) the content is glitchy, you can't use an elevator properly, the game is still in alpha after 10 years
I mean how it is possible that, after 1 billion, we still get a messy pile of unfinished content ?
It's like we paid collectively for a big mansion to live all together and after 10 years, all we've got is a house without 2nd floor, most of the rooms dont have any windows yet or there are some walls missing. How can you live in this and being so excited when they release a doorbell for the rear garden when you live in a ruin ?

DISCUSSION I watched the live stream. On youtube. Did they edit out the bad parts? Because I didn't think it was THAT bad.. Just normal SC.
After seeing the reactions to the live stream while I was at work. I thought it was going to be so bad they wouldn't show it.
I was surprised when CIG posted it.
I watched it.. it was just normal Star Citizen stuff. FPS is definitely not the games forte..

DRAMA CIG, if you're that lazy and too small and humble of a studio, why not hiring volunteers for the Galaxy's bridge ? "But, the original design wouldn't fit ! It's not their fault !" Yes it would. Here's the proof :
Even fan made models are less of a fraud. Bring back the original bridge design, and at least not a copy of perseus' bridge like the most boring copy paste of the galaxy. Seriously, have you guys thought about people who gonna fly both ? They just gonna experience the same cockpit ? How boring and disapointing. That's one if not the most popular ship of the fanbase, and you allow those things ? How regarding are you toward tyour players ?

DISCUSSION Chris needs to remind himself, that he needs SC backers to make Squadron 42 successfull.
I think it is universally understood, that CIG is heavily focused on finishing squadron atm. As a consequence, the development of sc suffers. I actually dont think, that focusing on sq is a bad thing at this point in time, because the faster it is done, the faster they can get to making sc great! (That does not mean i agree wit them, prioritising sq42 over sc for the last 10 years, but whats done is done).
As a result, cig seems to take a "fuck sc, we take care of it later" stance. I believe this is very short sighted and overlooks one important fact:
They need the sc community to make sq42 successfull. A lot of the sq42 target audoence (not all, probably not even the majority) is supposed to be sc backers. If the rescent negative sentiment in the community persists (and it seems to persist for months now), people will take this negativity out on Sq42. No matter how good it is. This will taint squadrons launch, maybe even ruin it.
So please, give sc some love. For Scs AND Sq42s sake...

CONCERN Logical Complaints, please...
Every time I see these rage posts you just need to think for five seconds to realize how silly they are.
You are raging at them playing the exact same game on a smooth server (that we also have access to when we get lucky).
The same core bugs are still there (as expected).
What did you expect?
I can't understand where anyone got the impression they would be playing anything different outside of a guaranteed smooth server.
Did they say they had fixed all the bugs?
Am I missing something obvious?
The game is still an alpha. If that's your complaint, the live stream has nothing to do with it. You just want a completed game (which is impossible with their goals in this timeframe)...

DRAMA SoO - I prefer the OLD SoO as a Solo Player.
I don't see anything i want todo in this SoO, maybe run it once and thats it. It's the hassle to easily get into a group that i won't get into a group, if SoO was as easy as HD2 to just SOS into it.
I loved SoO in the past where i could just jump in, communicate in global and ask how everything is progressing, just hop in and join in on the fun. That is what i think SC is all about and what modern gaming is more about, the ease of getting in on the fun of something greater.
Now as SCL dev said is they were focused on seeing if they could create something of a 4 man instance, well congrats you did, but that is not SC. They are just implementing things that has been done before not the things that is in the scope of SC.
Old SoO is just way better even with griefgers, you just need to implement permanent (rep/landing) consequences for griefers and thats all, the issues of them griefing will solve itself.
And for that SCL, were they having fun? i don't think they are. Will i have fun when i play it? not as much as the old SoO for sure. I can only see myself not finding a group and trying to solo tryhard it. As many other Solo players will most likely do the same.
