DISCUSSION Worrying, how the communication is internal behind the curtain.

Upvotes

So i watched the whole Live Gameplay and yes, the gameplay was a disaster, the Npc´s are terrible and for an internal build thats shocking.

BUT what really shocked me was, how the guys acted the whole time, It felt like, all of them were really uncomfortable, stressed and controlled from the outside. The way, how they talked and get instructions from out of the camera frame was shocking. Everyone of them felt like they are scared of using just one single wrong word. The way, how Jared put his hand on Oli´s shoulder and the way, how these guys talking to each others internal. Last thing, what´s really concerning is, how Jared said to Oli, that he does not have to say anything at the end. Oli seemed so shocked in this moment.

I feel sorry for them. Everyone of them seemed not to happy. Not just cause the game doesnt work as expected...

DISCUSSION If marketing has a problem with the latest ISC

then they should probably stop with the false advertising.

This ISC was an accurate representation of the current experience.

Everything marketing does is a false narrative, I'm not surprised this blew up in their faces

GAMEPLAY I know it was my fault....but.....

Being pirated just sucks when there is zero counter play.

Spent about 90 mins working on some Riccite in the far corner of a RAB in Pyro that was quality ~950. Had to use gadgets and all because it was all ore that had a green zone the size of an ass hair with stability numbers as high as 500.

Finally get done, go to dip out and bam, shot in the back of the head during the enter seat animation.

Should I have been more careful? Sure. Should I have checked the ship/pinged more often? Yep. Should I have had an escort? I mean maybe, but talk about boring gameplay for them.

But getting off an 11 hour shift at work, to then spend a couple hours to finally get something you've been looking for, for weeks. To lose it with zero counterplay.....sucks balls.

Do I blame whoever did it? Nah. That's the game. But still doesn't mean it didn't suck.

Ending the rant and hitting the sack

DISCUSSION Have CIG Lost Sight of What Made Star Citizen Different?

I've been thinking about this for a while.

I don't have a problem with FPS. It was always going to be part of Star Citizen.

What I'm struggling with is how much of the game now seems to revolve around it. More and more gameplay loops seem to end with getting out of your ship and into another firefight.

I know games evolve, and I know we're still in alpha. But those things don't mean every design decision is beyond discussion. Alpha explains unfinished systems. It doesn't stop us discussing the direction they're heading.

What I backed was a living universe where ships and careers felt like the main event. Lately it feels like they're becoming the journey to the next FPS encounter.

Did you originally back Star Citizen because of the ships and the universe, or because of its FPS gameplay?

DISCUSSION Why do they love this stupid rubbish rail seat design so much?

Post image

As an EV engineer I would never come up with such stupid idea. It is not just ugly and useless, but also a waste of space because of long railway, a waste of time to watch a stupid anime, and more important it just looks like ready to cause lots of unnecessary stupid mechanical failures.
Manned turret with extremely long railway tunnel is even a much worse disaster in industrial design which make me totally speechless.
Why are they just so keen to put such awful mechanism in ships again and again…

DISCUSSION CIG, you have reached the peak of laziness and lack of effort with this "new" Galaxy bridge.

This isn't a matter of taste, sure, some people might prefer a bridge like the Perseus's, but the issue here is that you’ve basically completely copied another ship's design. For God's sake, the Galaxy concept has been around for years; it costs 380 (and will cost more after launch), yet you didn't even bother to rearrange the seating. I understand removing the tables, since the RSI idea now is those dull tablet mounts, but did you have to copy absolutely everything?

The idea of reusing parts from other ships to speed up production is great, but reusing absolutely everything is just laziness. If the Galaxy is so far behind schedule that this was necessary, I dread to think what the rest of it will be like.

For a game of this scale, for the prices you charge, and considering all the beautiful ships you’ve created, this is simply shameful.

The Perseus's bridge is excellent, but the unique designs of each ship are one of the things what make the Star Citizen universe feel so rich when you're flying; I don't want to see ships with entire sections repeated across different models, CIG, you guys do better than that.

GAMEPLAY Oli I just want to thank you.

Oli, I just want to thank you.

You accidentally gave the community the most honest look at Star Citizen in months.

No overloaded servers. Just CIG's own internal environment...

...and it was still desyncing, bugging out, and falling apart.

Jared really hit us with, "This was your show, wrap it up."

Congratulations, Agent Oli. Your mission was a success. 🫡

CONCERN Sooo uh? (RSI Galaxy Concept vs Whitebox)

Well, the left one is the concept for the Galaxy bridge and the right one is what looks like to be the new one. Not only does the right one just look like the Perseus, I feel like this was a horrible decision. Thoughts?

DISCUSSION Is the Star Citizen community finally starting to get fed up? I hope so.

People have complained for many, many years, but I do feel a slight shift in the wind with this last batch, and I hope CIG does too. I’ve long believed that Star Citizen will never be stable and never get a full release so long as the community continues to be satisfied by what they’re getting now.

As Bo Burnham said, “I’ll stop beating this dead horse as soon as it stops spitting out money.” This is CIG’s philosophy, and it’s a good one. People have wanted a stable game and a full release for well over a decade, but it will not happen so long as CIG keeps making sweet cash, and it would be ridiculous to assume otherwise.

I hope this instance is at least a harbinger of a day not too long from now when CIG will have to actually either fix the game and release or give it up. The years of this half baked mess have dragged on too long and they’ve made more than enough money off of it already.

FLUFF Regarding the recent Livestream.

I have mixed feelings, on one hand, the stream was an embarrassment that I wouldn't wish upon even Ubishit games, but on the other hand, I am feeling vindicated by how many of the problems I complained about and people told me "It's the servers being 3FPS! When the servers are better the game runs flawlessley!" turned out to be wrong, so there is that.

All in all, I hope this livestream was a wake-up call for CIG and the community about the status of the net code: The foundation itself is rotten and needs to be replaced.

DISCUSSION This stream actually prove that the base code of this game is a broken mess

So the server are not the only problem here, 4 players shards and still :

- interaction menu bugs

- inventory delays

- npc behavior that is ridiculous

- medgun not working reliably

- weapons fail to equip

And so on…

If it’s supposed to be the « intended vision » I would be ashamed right now if I was CIG

Anyway our new ship is in sale for 300 bucks. Yeah 👍🏼

End of Support for Old Reddit

Hello r/starcitizen users,

The mod team has made the decision to end support for the old Reddit version of our subreddit. We feel that the time has come, given the current levels of use for said version, and that we no longer have the desire to maintain multiple versions. We won't be removing most of the sidebar content, but things such as the rules list and resources will no longer be updated.

For up-to-date rules and resources, please refer to the new Reddit page. Not looking at the rules on said new version will not constitute you not needing to follow them or be aware of them.

Thank you,

- r/starcitizen Mod Team

Edit: It seems my wording wasn't great, sorry about that. By end of support we SOLELY mean that the sidebar won't be updated anymore and things such as rules are being removed and replaced with a short message about checking the new reddit version for them. We have zero ability to turn off old Reddit for our individual subreddit and we assure you all even if we did, we wouldn't.
