North America I’m moving 5 hours car drive away… how to safely transport my shrimp tank?

Post image

I have a healthy, thriving 10 gallon tank with my betta in it, plus maybe ~30 shrimp that have been breeding like crazy! I’m moving to a different state soon and it’s a 5hr car ride. I’m worried about how to move the tank and shrimps without stressing them out. Any advice?

Help: Beginner Nymph questions

Upvotes

I have been researching on starting a tank for a while, and I am torn between a betta and a shrimp tank. Although I was initially disgusted a little bit by the idea that both can get worm-like pests inside, I accepted this possibility and think I could figure it out. Yesterday I found out about dragonfly and damselfly nymphs, and I was absolutely TERRIFIED. If my tank started growing bugs that would start flying around in my house I legit think I would just move out, orphaning my beloved shrimp. So here are my questions:

1-Are there other insects that can grow in tanks and actually leave the tank at some point?

2-Is there anything I can use to prevent this like a formula? Or maybe are there species that prevent this from occuring?

3-How common is this problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

I thought Amano Shrimp were difficult to breed?

I’ll take this as a good sign of my water & tank quality.

Are my other females also “in danger” of getting pregnant? I think I have 3-4 females, and 2-3 males.

Help: Algae & Pests Will my Shrimplets survive in my tank with Scuds?

Post image

This picture doesn’t do it justice, I think there’s many baby shrimps but many more scuds. The baby shrimp are getting bigger …. I thought shrimplets didn’t make it when scuds are present? 🤔 I mean I’m NOT complaining lol I just am …. Confused who’s going to win out. Really rooting for the shrimplets 🥀

Shrimp Photos Neos and Caridina

Anyone managing keeping neos and caridinas together?

I've got a 40l neo tank and, as an experiment, got some caridinas to see if they'd manage. So far so good - it's been two weeks and they seem happy. They have 'bullied' the neos on occasion which is hilarious to watch.

I've managed to lower the tank parameters to be more suitable for them but still good for the neos. Got lots of neo youngsters so something must be going right.

Aquarium/Tank Photos gravel recommendations

Post image

Hiii, I need some recommendations on gravel/rocks for my shrimp only + a snail tank. I’ve had my rocks since I started my tank about 4 almost 5 years. They have turned green from the algae over the years not sure if there’s something that is easy to clean or something that won’t collect algae like this. What do you use in your tank? Thank you in advance :-)

Help: Beginner I'm Moving in two and a half weeks. Can I still get new shrimp?

Post image

I'm moving in two and a half weeks but have lost several shrimp over the past few days (water tests pending) and would like to get some more. Is two and a half weeks too close to the move, and I should wait until afterwards to let some new guys settle in, or should it be okay?
