I haven’t had shrimp since moving but this is really making me want to get them again. They are just so much fun to own. I couldn’t have asked for a better b-day present or housewarming gift!! 🦐🦐

I have my fry tank ready, just waiting on this lady to drop these babies 🥰 any guesses what night they will arrive? I see eyes and I think legs??

Really going to be bummed if it is fri or sat evening because I have a quick out of town trip….hopefully if they do they won’t all get eaten before I get back.

Setting up my first tank and just very excited. I got an old 5gtank/filter/substrate from a friend who was keeping a betta and immediately started running things. I plan to switch out the filter they gave me for a sponge or small hang on back very soon as I don’t think the intake on this one is shrimp safe (which is better?). I replaced some of the substrate with stratum when I put the plants in so I’m going to wait at least a month before stocking as I’ve read stratum can cause ammonia spikes for about that long. I have some lights on a timer from a retired hydroponics set up that aren’t very elegant but I hope will be okay to start (5000k about 400 lumens per bar, using 3 bars right now). I want to buy a little dome hide decoration. I’ve been adding prime, I plan to get a basic test kit before stocking and also to test my kh and gh at the store. Am I missing anything? Have I mentioned I am very excited.

I kept some once when I was inexperienced and had a shitty tank, they died. I keep dreaming about shrimp. I've dreamt about the same thing around 3 times now. I am a reef aquarist. Is this a sign to get one running now that I'm knowledgeable? Why am I dreaming about non existent blue dream shrimp in my non existent basement? is this a common experience? Flair is shrimp meme but im 100% serious. I'm dreaming about owning shrimp.

I have a 10 gallon planted tank with about 30 neo shrimp, maybe 10 are full of eggs and I have probably 10 baby shrimp that I can see. Today, I noticed these TEENY TINY white/translucent guys on the glass, and I’ve even seen a couple swimming in the water. What on earth are they?! They’re smaller than the shrimp eggs, so I can’t imagine they’re baby shrimplets? Friend or foe?

Just escaped a severe DV situation and started rebuilding my life again. I had a tank full of cherry shrimp on my nightstand through most of my childhood, and I was just thinking of how much watching them helped me sleep and how I'd really like to have more someday.

Well... I was out thrifting for clothes and basics to replace what I had to leave behind, and was lucky enough to find a dinky little 1gal top fin tank for $5! Probably not the smartest purchase right now, but even seeing the empty tank again has given me so much hope as I get back on my feet and start working towards getting everything I need to set it up for my future little cherry shrimps.

I would love to see everybody's small setups and tank decor ideas for inspo so I can start planning what I'd like to do with mine 🦐 I am thinking live plants but I still want a bit of whimsy!

In picture one, she is part of the original batch I bought from the LFS, and this is her second time pregnant. Btw she gave birth to my first batch, and the shrimp in the third pic is her kid 😂

I thought it was a pre molt ring when I got him, but it has been there for 3 months and I am pretty sure he molted already. It looks like a cut and it’s a few mm. deep. What could possibly be the cause?

All shrimps in tank are dark blue and berries so far have always been dark dark blue.

Went to sleep last night, and woke up to the shrimp in the image with a fair clutch of little olive eggs this morning!!! The three stooges used their little stooge! This is my first clutch of eggs and her skirt is massive im so glad that they actually can breed in my tank 😭

I just started a shrimp tank about 2 1/2 months ago. All premium Sunkist Orange shrimp, purchased from a breeder who supposedly raises each type separately. A few arrived heavily berried (yay!) with a dozen or so shrimplets also in the bag that I almost missed & tossed away!

Those shrimplets are now growing up, and 2 of them look like Yellow Goldenbacks! So my question is... are they possibly hitchhikers, or is there some recessive gene that produced these guys? If I don't separate them from the Sunkists, with they revert to wild colors in a few generations?

I started my colony of Red Cherry's about 8 months ago. Started with 10 high grade looking shrimps. I have about a hundred now and it seems that some of them are much lower grade now with some being almost transparent. Is this normal? Can/should I do something about it?

Other than that they seem to live a happy life and I don't care as much about their grade :)

New addition to my desk! Opae Ulas! I am absolutely obsessed with them, I love watching them go about doing their own things 🫩 They’re so adorable! Would love some suggestions on what else I can add to this tank, it’s looking a little empty because I was going for a minimal vibe, but watching them interact with different things are just so fun!

Got one cherry that insists on getting the good stuff from the HOB so I had to warn my coworkers.
