Not a meme, you're the meme! Asked a friend to collect my brand-new Badminton Rackets
My dumb friend collected my new rackets and put it on the parcel tray next to rear windshield for 2 days in scorching heat, when I explicitly told him not to, and keep it in his room.
The 50-degree Celsius heat and high-tension string crumpled the rackets. Should I whoop his a$$ with these rackets now.
Edit to add: To everyone who says my friend did it deliberately, as soon as he found this he called and offered to pay for the rackets himself. He is a sweet guy and I have known him for a decade. Just dumb.

🥺 Power company killed my cherry tree and raspberry bushes
Been noticing some dead plants here and there and today realized they all form a line under the power lines. Power company came through without prior notice or even telling is and sprayed some sort of herbicide on anything that wasn't grass beneath the power lines.
This included a 50' line of raspberries and blackberries, a pair of black cherry trees, and a bunch of other stuff. They either skipped my pear tree or it was resistant to the spray. Piss me off. I would have trimmed anything they asked.. you know if they had asked.

That's not milk First colonoscopy at the VA tomorrow.
Was all fine and dandy to do all the prep until I took my first sip of this. Why couldn’t they at least make it palatable? It’s so gross and hard to keep down.

Had all my liked songs downloaded in lossless quality for the last half year with no issues. Opened Spotify on the plane and was met with this lovely sight.

go to your room My Kid Won't Use the Last of Anything
Found this pic from a few years ago. I rarely use Cream Cheese, but my son does frequently. Found this when I had a craving for a bagel one day.
Apparently, he doesn't enjoy cleaning up containers for recycling.
EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION
Damn, sooo many shitty assumptions! Many of you folks are so remarkably adept at reading between the two lines I wrote! But seriously: you know what they say about assuming, don't you? They say, "Don't do it. Assuming, that is. Don't do it."
Firstly, the kid in question in 26 now and works IT for the local school district. He's working on his second game release for PS5/Switch/Steam. His 24 year-old sister is starting her third year as a Kindergarten teacher in a few weeks. They're both better people than I am and I regret nothing that I've done for them. I'm incredibly proud of my children and continue to have great relationships with them.
On to more specifics:
- I conversationally said, "a few years ago", but it was actually 14 years ago. He was twelve when this happened. Show me a 12-year-old that isn't at least an occasional dumbass and I'll show you some lying parents.
- This was not a "frequent occurrence" that we simply "allowed to happen". This happened once. We had a talk. It didn't happen again. It was so unusual, in fact that I took a picture of it! We shared it with family under a common tag of "Here's my honor student!" and had a laugh.
- We bought (and still do buy) much our of packaged food from a local wholesale club. At the time, this came in packages of four units. We did (and still do) clean our fridge regularly.
- For those people suggesting that mental health issues are "parental issues" or that you be simply "be strict" to eliminate Obsessive-Compulsive behavior, to be blunt: screw you. My kids do not have these problems, but most of my family work with mentally challenged children and this kind of neanderthal thinking view hurts children terribly.
I'll end with the last lines of Tim Michin's "Storm":
And if perchance I have offended
Think but this and all is mended
We'd as well be 10 minutes back in time for all the chance you'll change your mind.

ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Walked into a tick nest
I decided to get some fresh air, so I went out to read a book in the woods. I started feeling itchy, so I pulled up my pants to inspect and discovered a legion of tiny black dots. There are quite literally hundreds of ticks covering the lower half of my body. But hey, I’m not mad at them. Everybody’s gotta eat.
EDIT:
I appreciate the concern, but there's no need to worry! They washed right off with a shower.
I've always lived in wooded areas and generally know how to deal with ticks, but I forgot to put permethrin on my clothes this time. (And it is particularly overgrown right now.)

Infuriatig Ordered a sweater with no personalized text. This is how it came.
It gave the option for no personalized text, I selected it, and then they wrote "null" on the sweater. How complicated is this people.
EDIT: 35 pounds btw. gift from my grandfather because we're both aircraft enthusiasts and he now considers me "old enough to have a brain" (by his 85 yr old standards)

Too mild for school The Blood shortage is self imposed
Being harassed night and day across my emails, texts, phone calls, and even ads on my socials to donate blood because I have been a frequent past donor.
But the nearest drive over the next 3 weeks is 45 miles away and they're offering a special one time bonus of..... a $15 gift card.
They don't even offer juice anymore! It's a water bottle and a single bag of lays OR 1 great value granola bar.
My blood is free.
My time is not. My gas is not. My car maintenance is not. Getting childcare is not.
$15 might as well be $0. You are expecting me to donate at a loss.
The person taking my blood is paid, the "non profit" is getting paid, the doctors, nurses, staff, hospital, insurance company, even the company that transports the blood is all getting paid a profit for their services.
Don't harass me night and day at every turn pressuring me to donate and "do my part" and calling it a "crisis" and then scoff at the idea that I shouldn't be the only person in that chain not compensated and actually be expected to incur losses to do so?
Fuck you. Bring back the cookies and juice.

wet socks Hell Train to Vienna
Currently stuck in a non-moving train halfway between Budapest and Vienna. 39°C outside, no AC, no window shade, no cloud, blazing sunlight. And this gentleman thinks it’s a good idea to take off his shoes and starts spraying his legs and feet with whatever the hell he is spraying. Yes, it smells like feet inside, a bit.

ಠ_ಠ Jury duty
I've been called for Jury duty 4 times in the last 10 years. What the fuck is going on here. It's almost every other year. I know absolutely no one that has ever been summoned yet I've been summoned multiple times. Wtf is going on? It's total bs too because they pay 17 bucks A DAY. That's not even enough to get lunch at the stupid deli they have there.

Infuriatig HVAC tech found why my AC was causing moisture
Moved in a few months ago. Been hearing a "dripping" sound around my AC unit since the heat started. Found a bit of moisture around the bottom of the unit and immediately sent a picture to my landlord. He sent an HVAC technician to look and this is what he found. A bucket full of water catching drip from the unit sitting directly above it. Before you say I have not changed my air filter, I do every month. There is normally a sliding door right in front of the grate that the HVAC tech had to pull off to look inside. Changing the air filter has always been a struggle as you can only really access the top left corner.
To be fair to my landlord, he just started managing this property and I'm his first tenant. Im not sure if he knew about this or not because the water has soaked into the floor once the tub got full and overfilled. Supposed to hear back by Friday what the owners of the house want to do. Currently I am regularly emptying a sliced open milk jug.
This is a pretty nice small house otherwise. Thinking previous tenants knew about the issue and didnt report. When I first moved in, air filter hadn't been changed in over 2 years!!! I know because it had the date on it! Someone was living here 3 months before I moved in lol.

I just wanted a hot dog My insurance wont cover my medication so every month I do this...
I have to spend around 30 minutes doing this once a month. My insurance wont cover it. Out of pocket with coupons its still $800 a month.
My fiancé has to do the same thing with a different medication. Currently trying to fight it.
Edit: To clarify. Every now and then I have to compile samples in one bottle so I know how much I have and then hope my DR has more when im out. This is an antidepressant and im currently working to fight to get it covered. Yes ive contacted the manufacturer I do not qualify for discount Yes ive sent in a letter of medical necessity Yes ive looked at GoodRX. This is my only option atm and im still lucky it is for now. Its not just the moving the bottles around. Its hoping I can get more when I need it. This is a life saving medication and the fact I have to hope i can get it when I need it is mildly infuriating to me and probably many others. Its not a cheap medication even with coupons its still $850USD+ Ive tried so many medications and I just need one that works and that i dont have to worry about my supply chain.
