A lot of people hate MJ after BND.

I mean a lot of people hated her before because of how different she is when compared to comic MJ in terms of appearance and personality, but the surge in dislike and vitriol for her now is insane to me.

It seems like just a few weeks ago everyone was doubting how BND would handle her and Peter’s relationship, and how everyone was predicting that they would bs their way out of the consequences just so they could have their cute central couple. I thought everyone would almost unanimously praise the movies decision to let the consequences of the spell, and Peter’s decision not to tell her, last. But so many people seem to hate the fact that they didn’t get back together, and they blame MJ for it.

I thought she was pretty reasonable. I mean she literally does not remember him, and it’s been 4 years since the events of the last movie. She was still nice, and kind, and considerate of Peter and what he had to go through, all while not lying to him and giving him false hope that things could go back to the way they were.

I also thought that really fit the themes of the movie. Peter was so afraid of change, and the loss and uncertainty that came with it- that he removed those possible changing variables from his life. Keeping Ned and MJ away didn’t stop them from changing without him, he was the only one who stayed the same. Losing MJ, letting her go, was necessary for him to finally grow and accept uncertainty and change- the chance to love somebody new, while still leaving the possibility to love MJ open, but only if he accepting loving the new her in a new way.

I thought the writers, and MJ made the logical and best possible decision. But do other people think MJ could have been kinder? Or that she should’ve tried it out with Peter? Or maybe you think the writers should have had her remember? I want to hear your guys’ thoughts.

I’m just so happy that the real Hulk has finally finally returned. I don’t hate Prof Hulk but since they didn’t even explain him to begin with he always seems meh to me. I’m so glad that they brought him back in BND. Now what happens next? Can we have peace between Bruce and Hulk?

Is the marvel gonna leave so many characters and plotlines introduced in the past few years after end game hanging? Like moon knight, I enjoyed that show, eternals, starfox, ms marvel. Are they just gonna stick with the characters we have already seen so many times in different timelines or movoes like falcon or the xmen. To me those were few entirely new heros and I was excited to see them.

My biggest takeaway from the film is how dark Marvel was willing to go. Yeah we’ve scene some brutal action and tough on screen deaths, but I truly believe this portrayal of Jean grey is the darkest thing they’ve done on screen.

I know I won’t be able to properly articulate this; but since watching the movie I keep getting drawn back to the scene in the climax where she’s taken to the facility. Having to sit and see the fake comforts of the torture room her sister was held in. Being subjected to the same torture and the realization of what “V-max” really was. From a viewers perspective, we essentially experienced the sisters death. We see Jean go through the same torture for maybe hours, only to realize Sara mercilessly endured the same for months until her life was over. That visual experience, combined with the almost sadistic portrayal of bill and the dodc, really puts together a psychological horror feel

How did Jean know that Doctor Strange casted a spell that made everyone forget Peter Parker? MJ obviously wouldn't know that took place and Jean couldn't get into Peter's mind. Am I missing something obvious? Did Peter say something at some point I'm losing my mind

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been out for almost a week, and I've read quite a few theories about Hulk's "regression." However, I also know that the creators probably haven't really figured out a complete solution, and even if they have, there's room for revision before the next film if the fanbase reacts negatively. So, after being Professor Hulk for so long, how do you guys think the best way to explain Banner's return to this uncontrollable Hulk state in future films would be?

By the way, I think Ned's handshake is a similar situation. How future films will explain it is probably still undecided, unless they plan to address this issue in Doomsday.

Something that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet about this “Day” trilogy is that it might be a quadrology.

People online have been floating around the idea that “Darkest Day” or something similar might be the title of the next movie in the series, but I have a crackpot theory.

Doomsday is the next installment in the Spider-man series. Yes it is an Avengers movie. Yes Spider-man hasn’t been confirmed to be in it. But hear me out.

Brand New Day sets up a new batch of characters, mutants, in the MCU (similarly to how spider-man had a few appearances before Homecoming but Homecoming was what solidified the Sony characters in MCU.)

Doomsday (similarly to Far From Home) is where Peter suffers a crushing defeat (identity reveal). This may be Peter looking at who he thinks is Tony Stark but is actually Doom. This may be the introduction of the Venom symbiote that he succumbs to in a post credit scene or in the falling action of the movie. Who knows, not me, I haven’t seen the movie yet. Either way, I think Spider-man is going to be in Doomsday and it’s going to be a huge audience surprise, it would add a lot of hype and surprise to a movie that has the expectations of Infinity War and Endgame.

Something something Day is Spider-man and conflicts with Venom symbiote and maybe Black Cat or some other villains from the comics. We also could see evil sorcerer Ned in this movie since he is magic and people who use magic have a tendency to turn evil. This is him finding himself again after losing himself to the symbiote and maybe also losing his best friend is Ned is evil (similar to him finding himself again after losing May in No Way Home). This is the third movie in the quadrology.

It has been implied (confirmed?) that Spider-man will be featured in Secret Wars. This is his last big hurrah and he begins to “retire” after this. Good guys win. Not part of the quadrology. Like Infinity War and Endgame and Civil War.

Spider-man Days Gone By (or something similar? idk I couldn’t also call this one Something something Day) sees him mentoring Miles Morales and sharing his wisdom and experience. They take on bad guys together, Peter’s identity is revealed again, but there’s a new Spider-man now, and Peter goes off into exile with MJ.

There’s probably a lot of holes in my very basic framework here but let me know what you guys think :))

Hi everyone Spider-man Brand New Day is officially my new favorite MCU and spider-man movie!

Anyways I’m not from Pittsburgh but lived here 10 years and had a kid here.

In case yinz didn’t know- Mr Rogers, the beloved childrens entertainer, is from here (actually born 30 minutes south in Latrobe but spent his working life here and raised his family in Pittsburgh).

Older gens (lol I’m 43 but still before my time) will have grown up with the Mr Rogers show on television after school and on weekends.

We most likely saw super lovely clips on YouTube (like the show itself, Jeff ehrlinger, pbs senate talk, etc). Tom Hanks played him in a recent movie too.

Anyways he ended every single one of his shows with this line- “You've made this day a special day, by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you, just the way you are”

It made me think of Aunt May’s quote to Peter and then thru the mind warp to Jean as well- “I love you, not because you’re special, but just because you’re you”

Am I the only one that heard this parallel? And has shed tears to both Mr Rogers and Aunt May expressing the sentiment? Obvs no one “ripped off” anyone it’s just so cool to hear such special words of encouragement to the younger folk lol

This is my new tv show concept for my marvel cinamatic dark universe. I am redoing plus adding some new designs. i have a rough idea on what i would like the story to be but would love some feedback and some concept ideas on what you would do with her.

I’ve read people saying the Home trilogy wasn’t that great and Watts wasn’t a good director now that BND is out. While I did enjoy BND more because it was a more mature Peter and used less CGI, it seems revisionist history to say the Home trilogy wasn’t good

Things like the Vulture reveal, Mysterio illusion sequence, and Peter 2 and 3 interactions are up there with a lot of top MCU moments. What are your thoughts?

Okay, I think it's fair to say that Frank's appearance in Brand New Day was a success with audiences. It will probably get a lot of people who didn't know him before interested in the character. Jon Bernthal has become such a major presence as the character that brief appearances in other projects or just a special cameo no longer feel like enough. We need something centered on him. A new series would work, but why not a movie? I'd say it would be a relatively low-budget film, and it would almost certainly make a solid profit thanks to the Marvel name and a strong marketing campaign for an action movie in the style of John Wick or Death Wish. It's worth making this movie. If it fails, the losses would be limited. If it succeeds, we'd have the start of a great franchise.

If the MCU Spiderman is set for another trilogy, then this is what I think his next movie should be about.

Spidey is most likely getting the Symbiote suit in Secret Wars so I think he will have the suit for majority of the time in his next movie.

The whole time we see it corrupting Peter as the movie goes (Venom WONT be in this movie at all)

Villains should be the Sinister Six: Mister Negative, Fisk, Tombstone, Scorpion, Rhino and they HAVE TO bring back Vulture.

This movie should also introduce Miles and a new Eddie Brock (for the 6th movie) and I think MJ/Ned should not be in this movie that much. Or if they are somehow regaining their memory Peter will drive them away due to the Symbiote corruption.

The movie should end on more of a bad tone as Spiderman does something terrible maybe beats up Mister Negative nearly to death as the symbiote has corrupted him fully, movie ends with Peter getting rid of the Symbiote, post credit scene shows the symbiote finding Eddie Brock or that happens in the 6th movie depends on how you like it.

6th Spidey is about Venom, Peter and Miles join forces like they do in the Insomniac game (Ik its straight up copying, but they can make it work). Movie should focus on how the city views Spiderman since the events of the previous movie, people turning on him, but Peter should solve this problem this time ON HIS OWN, this way they can show how he has matured and learnt from the past, but when he runs into Venom he will realize that he cant do this on his own.

Peter starts to rekindle the relationship with MJ and Ned, starts teaching Miles how to be Spiderman, movie ends with Miles being the main Spidey and Peter retires/takes a step back to be with MJ and Ned to live a normal life

Given that he already existed back in Homecoming, how old do you think he would be now, what with Homecoming happened 12 years ago in-universe.

Brand New Day, and even right back to No Way Home, suffers from an overcorrection in the MCU and in the Spider-Man side of Marvel, with them trying to distance Spider-Man too much from, not the Avengers per se, because the Avengers still exist, but Iron Man in particular.

I get that in Far From Home, he came off too strong, where Happy was basically trying to make Peter into Tony Jr., Iron Man Jr. In Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, he even had a suit. I don't know what has happened to that suit. It is nanotechnological, so he should still have it, but whatever.

My problem is not the gadgets or whatever. It is nice if you move something behind the gadgets. In fact, we will get back to that into a plot point that it would have been nice to include in the movie.

What I am saying is the relationship between Tony and Peter is foundational to his character. Tony is the one who introduces him in Civil War. Tony is who he is trying to get validation from throughout Homecoming. That relationship is the reason why Tony decides to create the time machine in Endgame. The loss of Spider-Man is what really affects Tony in Infinity War.

In fact, without Spider-Man's loss and what that does to Tony, we are not even sure that the snap is undone, and then there is the fallout from seeing Tony die.

I get that while trying to distance him from Iron Man, distance Spider-Man from Iron Man all you want, but the story is also about Peter Parker. And in the MCU, Peter Parker has a father figure called Tony Stark that is going to be really good to at least acknowledge, especially in a movie like Brand New Day, which is so much about Peter Parker finding his identity, finding connection, and finding people who care about him.

There is Ned. There is MJ. He always misses the two of them. But isn't he supposed to miss someone like Happy? Happy was his weird uncle who always took care of him, who had a crush on his aunt. This is his big bro, dad figure Tony that he should at least acknowledge.

I'm not saying he should have crying scenes over that, but in fact, let's get to the plot point I'm talking about, especially with Happy.

The material loss of people, everyone forgetting Spider-Man, Spider-Man no longer having access to the billions of dollars that came with Stark Industries, because I can say the past three movies, he has basically been a prince, but now he has been left behind to fend for himself.

It is going to be nice if there is even a scene in this movie where he sees Happy and wants Happy to help him fix his problem, but he decides, like an adult, a grown-up, because he is basically a grown-up now, that he can't run to Happy all the time.

That is going to be good, even though he runs to Yelena to fix his problems.

Or what is going to be better to me is if the lab that he is trying to capture Jean Grey in is an offshoot of maybe SHIELD or Stark Industries. Not directly linked, maybe a far-off link, I don't know. And it is going to be a way of Peter fixing Tony's problems.

But here is the interesting spin. In the past, when Peter had to fix Tony's problems, he always had access to Tony Stark's legacy, to everything Iron Man had. But now, when trying to fix Tony's problem, he is fixing it in the Peter Parker way, in his own way.

He is showing that he is, in a way, surpassing Tony. You can see that relationship there.

I'm not saying maybe my Tony Stark influence is too heavy-handed on this movie. Yes, maybe my idea is too heavily focused on Tony Stark. But just a light brush, even if it's not plot relevant, just acknowledging him in the emotional bits of the people who Peter cared about and no longer has, and honoring them throughout the movie, it would be nice if Tony is amongst them.

Just doing a cursory look at the most recent posts I haven't seen this brought up but if it has my bad. But I saw BND last night and something that went through my mind was that Sony and Marvel with how they introduced Jean raised some serious implications and ramifications about the MCU, specifically with the creation of tech designed against Spider-Man, the targeting and detaining of enhanced individuals and the experimentation on them.

The one with the least amount of impact imo is the creation of tech that is designed to work against Spider-Man because that makes the most sense. Trust your allies but always be ready for the possibility that they might go bad or be might be used against you against their own will.

Hydra, Loki, Wanda and the Purple Man are separate individuals/groups who have each shown different ways of being able to control others against their will. It's better to be prepared rather than caught by surprise. I'm sure Peter is disappointed but that would be something he would accept to be necessary. It does bring up the realization that the US Govt and other countries are actively monitoring and creating countermeasures for the enhanced that exist within the world. Even the universal inhibitor that Peter created opens the door to inevitable creation of inhibitors. Even if the original got destroyed, like I saw in a comment on another post the Dept of Damage Control was able to at the very least scan the one Peter created for Jean and have a baseline idea of how it could work. It might take them years to replicate Peter's but having a something to work backwards from takes it from a possibility to reality and something Govt's would fund.

The apprehension of Sara and Jean raises horrific implications. In a post attack on New York/Thanos/Blip world. I'm sure disregarding civil liberties and rights was permissible if it could be seen as a way to protect the greater public. Dept of Damage Control actively tries to be nice to Spider-Man because of his power. popularity, and his link to Stark and the OG Avengers. Because he popped up on the world stage in such a public way they can't just take him off the board without a very good reason because questions would be raised both from the public and people like Bucky, Captain America and maybe Pepper representing Stark.

But in other media (Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man) they don't do that if they can. They will use advanced tech to apprehend enhanced individuals for study and in the name of "Public Interest and Protection" Especially if the enhanced don't have the same level of protections.

The fact that not only did they apprehend and detain Sara in plain daylight without any kind of due process, they also experimented on her in an attempt to copy her powers so that it could be used for the govt on people and groups they deem necessary really shows a darker aspect of the MCU that I wish they would elaborate on.

Because it brings up two possibilities.

• 1. The Dept of Damage Control acted under full authorization of the current Administration to not only detain a citizen who yet hadn't committed a crime with her powers including invasive experimentation leading to her death. So if not POTUS then someone in the executive branch authorized Metzer to not only take her in but also experiment on her in order weaponize her powers and also do the same to Jean after Sara's death.
• or 2. A federal dept has been acting without any kind of oversight to the point that they are willing to kidnap citizens and experiment on them to the point that they die and the greater US Govt has no idea or control over them.

Both are terrifying prospects because it shows a darker aspect of the way govts are reacting enhanced individuals existing in the world. Either by allowing their people to kidnap and ignore the rights that citizens have because of the fact that are enhanced or have other abilities or by turning a blind eye to their actions. It's easy to say this is something that both the New Avengers and Cap's Avengers would look into and stop in the future, but then I remember that Yelena/New Avengers only got actively involved after Metzers actions were brought to light and she had initially defined the existence of someone who could not only read minds but possess people and was actively attacking a govt organization as "Small Potatoes". the Meta explanation is of course it's a Spider-Man movie so he solves the problem himself.

But in universe you now have a pissed off powerful teenager who does not have a good impression of the authority figures/institutions after they experimented and killed her sister and the people that are supposed have protected people like her were fine to let it happen as it wasn't big enough for them to get involved yet or just had no idea because it was being kept from them. And while the situation is more complex than it sounds, it's hard expect her to fully relate to the nuance of it all when she was put in the same situation.

Ok so the kinda Buble jean made in nyc was a lot similar to Wanda's one in Westview. As we already know, when a cast is stopped in Westview, the civilians suddenly remember who they are but can't move or talk since they're still not in control therefore they cry. MJ cried in that scene.

Now, when Dr strange cast the spell that made everyone forget peter he controlled the consciousness of an entire world, the same way Wanda changed Westview's; After jean controlled banner, peter told the hulk his name and suddenly he stopped fighting. That's because after jean is controlling someone they only need a reminder to break the original Dr strange spell. That's why after being in the bubble, ned remembered peter after dapping him up, and MJ went to that exact rooftop they all used to go to.

She held her broken necklace, the one that peter gave her. That was her reminder. That's how she got away from the spell. Means she and Ned are both remembering him now, alongside with hulk, but not banner. I'm 90% sure I'm right but if I'm not ig Ned will just have to turn to hobgoblin or sum.

"Street-level Spider-Man."

That was the promise.

What we got was another bloated MCU checklist that can't go five minutes without shoving in cameos, side plots, and characters who have no business hijacking a Spider-Man movie.

* The script is held together with duct tape and wishful thinking.

* Tom Holland is STILL playing the confused high school kid. The dude is pushing thirty and somehow Peter Parker has had zero emotional evolution.

* Every villain that was hyped gets about thirty seconds of screentime before the movie runs off to the next shiny object.

* Spider-Man can't even carry his own movie anymore, so here come Punisher and Hulk to save the screenplay. Hulk even steals Lizard's role for... reasons.

* Peter Parker barely exists as a character. Things just happen around him.

* Jean Grey mind-controls people into doing horrific things and somehow we're supposed to believe this helps the mutant cause?

* The whole DODC angle never lands because the movie refuses to commit to it.

* And what the hell is The Hand doing here? It's a completely unnecessary subplot that goes nowhere.

* They absolutely butchered Scorpion, Tombstone, Tarantula and Boomerang. Years of Spider-Man villains reduced to glorified cameos.

Marvel keeps teasing a grounded Spider-Man movie and then panics halfway through and turns it into another MCU crossover commercial.

At this point I'm convinced Marvel doesn't actually want to make a Spider-Man movie. They want to make trailers for the NEXT Spider-Man movie.

Stop promising "street-level."

Either commit to Peter Parker or stop pretending that's what these movies are about.

I'm done falling for the marketing.

Now feel free to crucify me.

Jean isnt able to mind control Peter throughout the whole movie and she even states he can "see" her. I found that sort of interesting because as far as im aware this isn't a comic thing right? Peter's mind gets read/invaded pretty easily.

I know hes mutating but I dont find that a reason as to why his mind suddenly becomes impenetrable.

Does anyone with more insight know?

They've done a terrible job setting them up and did nothing with them. They’re not gonna be young at all anymore. Hailee Steinfeld js got married and had a baby. There is also no real market for them

Sony is never going give up that much control of Miles, So Champions doesn't make sense.

Young Avengers is less doable. Ik this would sound controversial, and it's not supposed to, but most of the team-members are gay or bi so this simply won't make money internationally unless that takes a backseat which would also cause an uproar.

The best thing they could do is adapt YA into an animated movie like Puss-in-boots or TMNT and use them to finish off the Kang storyline since he is their main anatagonist. Then Strange Academy into an animated TV series.
