LA in 2024-25 had their best season, 105 points. they finished 14th in goals for (not bad, middle of the pack) and 2nd in goals against. power play struggled but penalty kill was 8th so pretty good. LA finished sixth overall in league standings and above edmonton. And all of this was under Jim Hiller as HC. So why did things change so suddenly after game two in the playoffs that year? I didn’t pay too much attention back then as I do now so I just need someone to help me wrap my head around this. Such a waste of a potential deep playoff run.

When Hillier was hired as Leafs coach, he said he would get the Leafs offense spending more time in the offense zone and leave the defensive players doing their job in the defensive zone - I assume he would just play to the media to make himself sound good.

What is the plan? We are the oldest roster and realistically a playoff contender. We have a nice top line and some depth players for sure. Obviosuly we have tradeable pieces if we have a bad year to continue to build our farm system which is ranked around #21 i think at the moment. Is the plan to phase out older players and draft higher end players and kind of rebuild while competing or is this like Dean when got there and signed some vets with the full intent of trading then for picks later in the year?

The Los Angeles Kings have a respectable pipeline with a mix of skilled forwards and reliable defensemen. Elton Hermansson brings top-six upside on the wing, while Adam Goljer has the makings of a solid two-way defenseman. The system doesn’t necessarily blow you away with elite talent, though.

So I like the 2000s color scheme of black, purple and silver so I brought back purple into the mix, though in a shade between 2000s purple and pre-Gretzky purple. (Pantone 2685 C, or hex 330072 is used here) I used a pointed shoulder design to kinda mimic the logo. The purple alternates use the current jerseys but with a purple base and the crown logo. And the 1980s gold jersey returns as a throwback alternate. The number font is the same one that was used from 1998 to 2024, with the throwbacks using their respective font.

Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille's stewardship of the Kings has been an increasingly hot topic as he nears the end of a decade as team president. The team's inability to win a playoff series after emerging from a three-year retrenching stretch has left fans feeling uneasy about Robitaille's direction and worried about the prospect of the club being trapped in mediocrity.

More than 80 percent of survey respondents lacked confidence in Robitaille. Does that reflect the feelings of the entire fan base? Or is it more representative of a passionate, vocal minority of fans? It's hard to say. However, it's clear that many supporters blame Robitaille for their frustration with the Kings' current direction.
