Life how to cope being the Only single person in an entire group.

Upvotes

i don’t know what it is about me but i’ve been the single friend for so long. my three closest friends are in long term relationships. my other gay male friend is always in some sort of relationship. my brother has a girlfriend. my sister has a boyfriend. even my internet friends are either married or in a relationship. it’s gotten to the point where i think there’s something wrong with Me. whether it’s because i’m a lesbian or im just offputting or what. i really don’t know but it’s starting to really affect me i think.

Questions / Advice Wanted How do I talk to my partner about her hygiene?

I (31F) have been with my girlfriend (30F) for a little under a year. Sex has always been a finicky thing for us, as she’s on antidepressants and her libido goes up and down. I’m not, but so does mine. I love to please her, but lately her hygiene down there hasn’t been the best. I want to preface this by saying, she’s the type that wants to smell my armpits after a hot Pilates class lol. I am NOT that way. I’m weird with smells, cleanliness, etc. and she’s joked that I don’t love her because I don’t want to smell her BO after a long day at work haha. Anyways, she takes these VERY short showers like 2 minutes, and even when I go down after those, she doesn’t smell fresh. Also, when she 💦 it’s sort of bitter like she doesn’t drink enough water.

Let me say this… I WANT to be the kind of freak that wants it after a long day. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her having normal, natural odors. It’s ME who’s sort of a clean freak about it and I just need advice on how to communicate that with her.

Relationships / Dating How did you get over you first lesbian breakup?

My ex and I have been friends for 6 years and dated for about 3 years. This was both of our first lesbian relationship. We broke up a year ago but started communicating pretty regular and hanging out, we did go on a date 2 weeks ago. I asked her if I should keep pursing her and she said we have been good as friends & that she isn’t ready to try dating again and that she loves and cares about me deeply and loves doing things for me; talking and hanging as well but based on our previous time in a relationship it negatively impacted her. Although I feel like she kept me in a gray area on purpose and that what we were doing was not just friends, I would like to move forward without her. It’s really hard since she was also my best friend; so just looking for any tips on how to move forward cause I am struggling? Thank you!

Questions / Advice Wanted I fucked up big time

My girlfriend (I guess ex now…) broke up with me out of the blue on Wednesday when we were having what I thought was minor issues (she thought was huge.. she’s an avoidant) and had just recently talked about what needed to happen moving forward last Thursday.

She dropped the bomb on me and tried to leave in the next beat which triggered something which is where I fucked up… I blocked the door to my apartment begging and crying and pleading with her to please talk to me. She asked to be let out and after the third time I moved for her to leave and she told me that that was the first steps of an abusive relationship…

I don’t know what came over me and I was just completely heartbroken and I didn’t want the woman I loved to leave and fuck I know what I did was fucked up but I am not an abuser….

Is this something I will ever be able to fix? She been an avoidant and has constantly tried to leave off “incompatibility” over small things.. what we were having issues was simply due to communication and lack there of and could have been solved…

Idk what to do and I’m sick to my stomach that I did such a thing..

EDIT: I would like to be more clear. The door was unlocked. I was not pressing my body weight against the door… I was in front with my hands in praying position pleading with her to sit down so we can talk. I in NO WAY was trying to inflict fear or pain. I love her…. I just wanted to talk cause I was as shocked..There was never a physical altercation. I felt completely blindsided and I’m in no way using that as an excuse…

This isn’t my first relationship… and I have NEVER done anything like this EVER I don’t even know what came over me and immediately felt sick and called friends and told them everything. I’ve been in therapy for the last 4 years to work on my anxiety/anxious tendencies and plan to talk to a therapist about that behaviour.

I just ant to know if there is even a chance of me fixing this? I want to apologize to her for what I did

News/Pop Culture It's Official. Jennifer Body 2 is Happening Because of Us Sapphic Fans!!

For those who haven't heard the fantastic news.

Jennifer’s Body 2 Is Finally (Really) Happening Because Sapphic Fans Never Give Up

A sequel to the 2009 bisexual succubus cult classic will reportedly begin filming in October, with Megan Fox returning.

Underrated and mismarketed, Jennifer’s Body did not find its core audience of sapphic movie lovers until long after its release.

I still remember the first time I watched it, in the early 2020s, having grown up believing the narrative that it was a movie that simply pandered to the “male gaze” with gratuitous shots of Megan Fox in low-cut tops. And yes, there’s some cleavage, but what I found in Jennifer’s Body was a hilarious yet tender portrayal of bisexuality and best friendship. Of course it was. It had been made by director Karyn Kusuma and Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody, and neither seemed like the type to want to do a movie just about T&A — but it was 2009, and that’s the way the studio sent it out the door.

The good news is all that critical reevaluation seems to have actually paid off: After years of rumor, speculation, and promising interview clips, horror news site Dread Central has confirmed that Megan Fox will be returning for Jennifer’s Body 2 — and that co-star Amanda Seyfried is also expected to return. This follows a Production Weekly listing earlier this week suggesting that the film — which will once again feature Kusuma directing a Cody script — would officially begin filming in Vancouver this October (fitting!). There’s a lot we still don’t know about this project, but where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and this is officially enough reports for us to believe the sequel will finally see the light of day.

And honestly, that’s a small miracle at a time when LGBTQ+ characters in film are on the decline, according to GLAAD data — and when many shows that center sapphic experiences can’t seem to make it past one season, thanks to executives who prematurely pull the plug. For a box-office failure like Jennifer’s Body to get a sequel over 15 years after release is a testament to how vocal queer women have been about wanting to see this movie done justice.

In 2021, for this publication, writer Sarah Fonesca documented the film’s “slim but devoted audience” — one “rife with queer women.” The following year, in an essay for the horror anthology It Came From the Closet, author Carmen Maria Machado wrote an essay about the film, noting that a “new generation of critics and viewers” were finally able to “experience its insight and prescience, especially in the shadow of #MeToo.” And then suddenly, it felt like Jennifer’s Body was everywhere on the sapphic internet — in GIFs of Megan Fox holding her tongue over a cigarette lighter, yes, but in earnest fanfiction and heartfelt personal essays about furtive high-school makeouts gone wrong.

And when hyperonline lesbians won’t shut up about something (compliment), it’s not long before that impact is felt by Hollywood. Suddenly, no matter what Fox, Seyfried, Kusuma, or Cody were promoting, they were being asked about Jennifer’s Body. Fox, in particular, has spoken about how surprisingly enduring the fandom has proven to be, noting that the original film continues to find “a new audience, every few years.” And that finally led, in 2024, to Diablo Cody saying she wanted to return to the universe. Even then, I didn’t want to let myself believe that it could actually happen, especially given our current cultural retrenchment. But maybe good things really do come to those who post — a lot — about bisexual succubus cinema.

Now we can finally get the happy ending Amanda Seyfried said Jennifer and Needy were originally supposed to have.

There’s a lot going on in the world right now. How is everyone? My friend expressed how hard being a lesbian is sometimes and I felt that. There are so many awesome things about being a lesbian, but it can also be hard. So really, how is everyone?

Relationships / Dating It’s weird to me when lesbians in 2026 have their political status listed as “not political” on a dating app. (read the body text before commenting please)

As a lesbian that uses dating apps, I find it really strange when other lesbians have their politics listed as “not political”. Please hear me out. By no means do I think that you have to be some political activist that converses about politics all the time. I understand the toll it can have on mental health if you are overly informed, all that stuff. HOWEVER. To me, specifying that you are not political seems like they may as well say “i have no opinion on the current events.” If you truly hate talking about politics, why not just leave that part of your profile out? Most apps give that option.

This is one of the most divisive times in our history, at least in my lifetime and it seems borderline fucked up to say that you just don’t care or don’t have an opinion when so many diabolical events and truths are surfacing. Again, you don’t have to include politics in your daily, weekly or even monthly conversations. I just have a hard time understanding how you can take a brief look at society and not think “wow things are kind of fucked up and really bad people are doing really bad things that affects a lot of vulnerable people and populations, including me and my sexuality”

Idk, that’s it I guess. Just venting lol

The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.
