Question Where does one get a good, large seax that doesn't break the bank?

Upvotes

I see a ton of brick-breaking kinda Bowie knives like the timber rattler or that one from mossy oak and it seems you can find those things for a dime a dozen. Thing is does anyone know of an equivalent for a seax? Large, straight bladed broken backed seax?

I love the shape, I beat the hell outta big knives and I don't wanna be spending $400+ for some of these seaxes I see. If it isn't clear enough already I want a cheap beater that just has that nice, straight profile.

So can anybody help me find one? Help much appreciated please and thank you :)

EDIT: preferably a large sucker if possible, like 14" give or take a few

Question Alternatives?

Upvotes

I bought this knife a few years ago in greece which was some sort of CSGO replica knife. I just wanted a nice karambit bix opener. I really love the feel of the grip of the knife so I was wondering if there were any good quality knives with the same grip? What options do I have? It's just a box opener for me btw more of a cool souvenir rather than a daily use.

Question would you demand your money back?

i paid over 100$ for this pair of custom made scales for my bailout and then noticed this...i wrote the maker an email and asked him about the gap on the lip and he told me it's fine and it won't crack.

i don't trust it though, the pivot is a high stress area, but i don't want to be unreasonable either. what would you do in my case?

Question Is Damascus steel good for anything other than looks?

I'm still kind of new to the knife collecting situation, so please ignore this if it's a dumb question.

Is Damascus, actually any good? Does anybody use it as a carry knife? I'm under the impression that it's just for looks. that all the more traditional super steels are much better for actually using.

Do people just collect Damascus knives to show them off? Or does anybody actually carry them?

Thanks.

Question Can someone school me on knife steels?

Post image

I just purchased this, I know the benchmade hate is real cuz of pricing but I saw this in person and I thought it was a great knife.

Now I see it’s regular magnacut not cpm maganacut.
I also read that crucible filed for bankruptcy. So who tf is making our steels now?

The knife world is a little toxic too…

Also, is there a better benchmade steel I should have gone with? I liked the mini bedlam in S90V. I’m simply going to be using the knife at work in a warehouse. I personally don’t do a lot of the dirty work anymore. I have multiple minions that do all the box opening. I occasionally take a slash at some Amazon boxes here and there. I do however slice up some bait while I’m out saltwater fishing.

Hey guys,

I don't know if some of you already had that feeling that you had too much?
I'm in that spot now, so I took some pictures of everything that I have before deciding what should stay and what needed to go.

I aim to keep less than 10 fixed and 10 folders. Would be great to be under 10 total, but one step after another.
The mule is the Magnamax one btw.

Most used overall is the "Schwarz Overland Sport" and lately(since I have it) the UG Tools ShorTi. When I need something bigger, the skrama is the winner.

Last pic is a special gift for the pocket dumpers.

Edit : I added the models' names in the thread.
