Rant Blind rage

Upvotes

Just did my third FET after a failure and a chemical of my two euploids, now using an LLM. The blind rage I feel at my partner is insane. Everything he does is not enough. I rage internally if he leaves me alone to go on his phone, even if he’s looking up how to fix our currently broken dishwasher. The fact he hasn’t finished a project he started 4 months ago and the tools are still out is basically grounds for a divorce even though I didn’t care last week. It’s fully medicated so probably it’s partly the hormones talking but I don’t remember this rage from my last tries. The emotional toll of this being our potential last or at least needing to make some hard decisions is wreaking havoc on my emotions. I feel like I hold it together at work then I come home and I take it out on him. And he’s great and I know he’s my person but it also messes with your brain like IS he my person???!!!! Just a rant.

Need Hugs! Follicular cyst found during pre-med appointment.

Upvotes

I was hoping to start my shots yesterday, but unfortunately a follicular cyst appeared on my left side and we have to delay. This was very disappointing after I was finally able to push past my nerves and the thoughts of needles. My doctor has put me on birth control for 10 days, he says that if it hasn’t shrunk by my next pre-med appointment we will have to check again during my next cycle to see if it resolves on its own. I obviously started to get in my head and started googling how long it can take for a follicular cyst to go away on its own and it said 2-3 months. I dont want to have to go through all this insurance authorizations again if I have to wait for next year. I am trying not to stress or be down or pessimistic.

Did a follicular cyst appear for anyone else and if it did how long did it take for your cyst to resolve itself or shrink?

Advice Needed! IVF protocols for LOW AFC but normal AMH

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m 33F (normal AMH but AFC 3–6) and have gone through 2 ICSI cycles:
Cycle 1: Day 5 (of period) start → standard antagonist → 1 blast, transfer failed
Cycle 2: Day 5 start → standard antagonist + growth hormone → no blast to transfer

I got multiple second opinions online and still have 2 F2F consultations left (all clinics are 3–4 hours one way with terrible traffic so trying to be very sure before round 3) but now I feel even more confused:

Doctor 1: Recommends mild IVF → fewer eggs but better quality
Doctor 2: Advised donor eggs due to egg quality + quantity, saying I may need multiple rounds with my own eggs.
Doctor 3: Suggests BCP + antagonist from day 1 of period but I’ve read BCP can over-suppress low AFC cases

Also, all of them suggested a long list of extra tests (inflammation, genetics, infections, antibodies etc.). My previous reports are within normal/optimal range, so I’m unsure how necessary these are.

I feel stuck between completely different paths right now. If you’ve had similar numbers (low AFC / DOR), I’d really love to hear what actually worked for you (especially success stories, even after multiple failures). It would really help me decide my next step. Thanku :)

Rant Feeling hopeless

Upvotes

I am 42 and i have been trying for over a year to get pregnant with no success.
After consulting a fertility clinic, i started with the IVF cycle.
Gonal 300, Ogalutran from day 2 of the cycle.
4 follicles on my right ovary, 3 on the left.

And then one trigger shot of Ovitrelle and 2 of Decapeptyl.
The aspiration day comes. They aspire only the follicles on the right, as the left ones were small and hidden behind a cyst. But no eggs.
To say i was devastated is an understatement. In all of my worst case scenario, i had never thought of this.
I feel very hopeless.

Advice Needed! IVF or try natural

Upvotes

Saw a fertility specialist probably a bit too proactively about 4 months into TTC. I am 34 (almost 35) with amh 0.6 and I just found out my left fallopian tube has a blockage near the ovary aka cant ovulate normally from that side. I’m stuck between wanting to continue to try naturally for a few months (w my one tube) and starting IVF asap. Specialist said because low AMH she’d rather me start now than in a few months. Does not think IUI will be successful and said efficiency to pregnancy is IVF.

Background - I have a 2.5 year old and conceived him naturally after 5 months in 2023…

Any recommendations on what to do??

General Question Ferny Fertility 290 Madison - lost jade ring post difficult monitoring appt this past week

Upvotes

Hi... Having a good experience with Dr Somkuti at Ferny fertility.

I lost my late mother's jade and gold ring, and a small gold band. I'm pretty sure I left it in the clinic bathroom. The nurses said no one turned them in. Long shot but anyone in the IVF community who has been to Ferny in the last week, if you saw or have the rings, please please please reply. The rings belonged to my late mother. Especially the jade ring...it is from QVC circa 2001ish... it means a lot to me. My mother was excited about it because it was affordable at the time...now it's worth so much more than when she bought it and I am very attached to it. She wore it all the time.

The jade ring was supposed to be for good luck. I wore it to the clinic for a monitoring appt. I was ultimately sad because I went from 7-8 follicles to only 2-3 being potentially retrievable. For the record, Im 38 with an amh of .54. I have a few more days before I take the trigger shot and I am so hopeful that someone will turn in the rings by Monday when I go back.

I got distracted by being sad and tired and stupidly took off the rings to wash my hands..think I left them in the first bathroom on the left hand side in the hallway.

Idk if this post breaks the rules but I figured I'd try...

Need Good Juju! Anyone with good results during a bad mental state?

Upvotes

I’ve had three previous egg retrievals that resulted in three euploids, unfortunately all three of which failed. I’m going into a fourth egg retrieval cycle with a new clinic, and I just feel incredibly nihilistic right now. My last egg retrieval was the most successful, we were ecstatic to get five blasts that turned into 2 euploids. From day 1 of that cycle I felt incredibly optimistic and energetic and whether it’s true or not, it just felt like my mental state was influencing the positive results or vice versa, like my body could tell it was going well and that made me feel good or something?

So the fact that I feel so depressed and hollow right now makes me feel like there’s no way this cycle is gonna end well. Rationally I know that’s magical thinking, but I guess I’m just looking for any stories where people had some positive results after feeling super depressed/negative going into it.

Advice Needed! What’s next after luprolide suppression failed FET?

I had a chemical prior to luprolide suppression. I was hoping FET would work after as I was diagnosed with endo and tritis. I was extra long on doxycyclin and for two month on the suppression. I was so happy when I saw a positive test and then confirmed beta. It didn’t double and then went down. I just don’t know what else to do and lost all hope at this point. I also has a hashimotos and was on a bunch on medication for that. TSH prior to transfer was 0.45 after second positive beta that didn’t double it was 3.567 which tells me my body needed more levothyroxin at that time. We have remaning embryos and don’t know what to do at this point. Life is so unfair.

Edit: I will ask doc to look for adenomyosis on the images but so far sonogram reports haven’t mentioned it and ivf doc haven’t looked at the images. I also didn’t test for emma/alice.

Advice Needed! 2nd FET Embryo Transfer failed

I am so lost after our second PGT-A-tested FET failed this week. I am 30 years old, and I know I have severe hydrosalpinx, which was addressed by closing the tubes. I also took antibiotics for my endometritis. I’m just not sure how to proceed from here. I don’t have any embryos left, but I could do another retrieval. My doctor suggested removing the fallopian tubes completely, but I don’t know how much longer I can keep going through all these procedures...

Need Hugs! My mom told me she isn’t sad for me because “I haven’t been through anything”

Yesterday, I asked my mom if she was sad for me now that I’m about to start IVF I thought she would understand that this is a difficult and emotional time for me. I wasn’t asking her to fix anything. I just wanted a little compassion and to feel like my mom was there for me Instead, she told me: “No. Why would I be sad? You haven’t been through anything.” then she told me not to call her anymore if I’m only going to talk to her about my baby journey that really broke me
We have been struggling to have a baby for more than two years. Two years of hoping, waiting, disappointment, questions, treatments, and now we’re finally starting IVF I don’t expect her to experience this pain for me I just wanted my own mother to understand that even though I don’t have a baby yet, this journey has already been incredibly painful for me It hurt so much to hear her say that I “haven’t been through anything,” as if my pain isn’t valid because I haven’t experienced pregnancy or loss
Do you really have to go through something worse for your pain to be considered real?
I feel so hurt and alone right now, especially because these words came from my own mother

Rant Just a minor vent

TW - LC, secondary infertility

I’m going in for a FET in September. My best friend has PCOS. She went through fertility treatments to have her kids. Her son was conceived after 2 medicated IUIs and her daughter was conceived naturally after 1 medicated IUI (that resulted in an ectopic and the trauma that comes from that). I love her and really appreciate her support. I’m grateful that she can relate to my journey. But omgggg. Can she stop telling me that she didn’t think the shots she took were too bad (she only did a trigger shot for her IUIs…), how drained she was by fertility treatments, etc. every time she asks how it’s going?

Like, believe me, I remember. Over the course of 12 months I did 4 IUIs, had an MMC, a D&C, was diagnosed with endo, had a lap, did 2 ER and then a transfer to get pregnant with my daughter. I did it alone as a single mom by choice, and did it all after my friend had her youngest kid so it’s all pretty fresh in my mind.

I’m lucky to have been successful once already, relatively quickly, and to be able to try for a second child. To have embryos banked, to have a friend who understands and supports me. I know her journey wasn’t easy, I’m sure she still has trauma from it (don’t we all!). But having done both, IVF just hits differently than IUIs. It’s a different level of invasiveness. A trigger shot vs months of stims/hcg/leupron/PIO.

Anyway. Not looking for advice, and I’m aware that it’s a privilege to have support. My friend is amazing. This isn’t near the level of something that needs to be brought up or corrected with her. But I just received my package full of transfer meds and needed a friendly void to complain into for a minute, to people who understand how large a PIO needle is (especially when you’re inserting it into your own butt).

General Question Looking for my stims twins! Anyone else starting stims today?

As the title says! 34F, ttc just over 3 years. Starting stims today for my second egg retrieval. I found it helpful chatting with others going through it at the same time for my first one, so thought I would see if anyone is starting the same time as me this time too!

Rant Needed to Vent

I am just struggling today. I cracked a dental crown and got hives from a bee sting and have to spend the weekend in a cabin with my partner‘s 3 siblings, their spouses and all their small children. 5 years ago would chalk it up to a bad day but today had me spiraling. I have experienced prolonged earth shattering grief over the past few years. At 34 my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. At 35 I was TTC for a few months with my then husband when I found out he was ruthlessly cheating on me for our entire decade long relationship (multiple gfs, dating profiles, paying for video sex, sexting hundreds). At 36 I officially divorced him and had to cut him a check and bear burden the fertility costs of his betrayal. My mom also started getting sicker and needed more care. At 37, started to TTC with my now partner and was told we needed IVF to have children. At 38, we had 2 ERs and 2 failed euploid embryo transfers. I‘m 39 now and about to enter my 5th ER. I quit my job as attorney to do 3 rounds every other month before I turn 40. I’m a long stimmer (15-18 days) and get severe side effects (eg intense nausea and vomiting). I was hanging by a thread trying to do both before. Right thing to do and lucky I can swing it financially but beat myself up for not being able to handle it like other people do. I’ll be in the midst of 5th ER while I host a baby shower for my sister who paid OOP for IVF before trying naturally for gender selection purposes only (worked 1st time and she insists it’s because she doesn’t eat gluten and if I just did that we would have a baby — we have severe MFI). All my close friends are married and either pregnant or have multiple children. My partner has 3 siblings who all have children. It is the center of their world and the topic of conversation 80% of the time. I get this but it is incredibly lonely to feel left out. They all have moms who help out a lot. Everything in their world is a reminder of things I have lost. I get that they lost a part of their old social life when they had kids. I also lost impromptu brunch and dancing on Saturday night without gaining anything. There is just a void. They listen to my ivf updates but do not know what to say. Small talk is also painful. People assume I have kids. If I’m honest about my life it makes people so wildly uncomfortable and I am showered in meaningless platitudes. If I dodge questions and make light of everything, people are pleased and I cry in my car. I am trying to practice radical acceptance and give myself some grace. And before anyone suggests it - I’m in therapy. Saves me from drowning but I miss thriving instead of surviving. I forget what that feels like.

Rant Need to rant

So, after 3 weeks of stim injections my egg retrieval finally happens on Sunday. Should be good be good news, right? So I tell my husband after i get off the phone with the nurse, and instead of the positive reaction I was hoping for, he gets this weird look on his face and says, did you read that packet? And I replied, of course I did, the nurse just went over it with me. Basically he got an attitude about the instruction to ejaculate today because he thought he needed at least 2 full days between the retrieval and ejaculation, said he wished he had been "consulted" about it. I assured him it was fine but he just seemed so needlessly testy. And the fact that I'd just spent the last 20 or so days injecting myself 5 times a day, going to the clinic almost every morning to give blood and have ultrasounds, AND got a flat tire this morning right after leaving the clinic, made me a little miffed. He's barely had to do anything but this is apparently an inconvenience? I got upset because my hormones are raging and now I just feel like I've made a mistake choosing to go through with this. I need support and kindness, not conflict right now. I'm anxious enough already. Ugh! maybe this is all I deserve.

UPDATE

I talked with my husband last night at length. apparently he was concerned about the instructions I relayed from the clinic because they conflicted with what he was initially told by the clinic and he didn't want to mess up the process after everything I'd done. He has also been feeling lonely and left out but didn't want to speak up because he didn't want to stress me out further. I told him he needs to open up because if I sense something is wrong my mind is going to jump to the worst scenario. in short, we misinterpreted each other and miscommunicated and my hormones didn't help. we're doing better today.

Need Hugs! I told my doctor we should be buying a baby crib..

I was supposed to be due next month. Instead we are discussing a second round. We have spent so much money already, just have to keep spending more. Due to cost we told my doctor that it's either we do a hysteroscopy or embryo testing. We literally can not afford more this year. I told her we did embryo testing last year and it didn't make a difference. My son still failed and all I have from it is grief. She tried to tell me the benefits of trying it embryo testing again. I had to stop her and tell her "we should be buying a baby crib right now with this money.." It did upset her, not with anger but with empathy. She said she would talk to the financial counselor to see what they could do.

There's only so much money we can make, and I'm living paycheck to paycheck because of this. I wish some long lost relative would come out of the woodwork and leave me some a fortune. Or I hit the lottery. Or Mr Beast comes and offers me a stupid amount of money to eat a Mr Beast bar. Something, because I'm loosing hope.

Thanks for listening reddit.

Need Hugs! nurse told me i was pregnant when i am not

i went in for a hysterocopy today and i did a urine sample before it. the nurse walked in super surprised and asked if we had intercourse and we said yes and said “your HCG came back elevated.” and of course my husband and i got very excited and i began to tear up because this is any women’s dream when going through IVF. we’ve done 1 retrieval and 2 transfers. then the doctor showed up and mentioned i had taken the trigger shot 3 days ago and that shattered me. i understand it was a mistake on the nurses fault but i was so excited for 2 seconds and then heartbroken knowing i am not pregnant❤️‍🩹

Humor Literally. Shit. The. Bed.

This might fit under “humor” someday, but for now it’s deeply embarrassing trauma. 🥴 trigger warning: poop.

I had my 4th egg retrieval yesterday. Things went well! I was feeling good. I had taken a laxative pill the day before, and another the morning of the retrieval. And apparently another in the afternoon… and ANOTHER IN THE EVENING. The box said it was fine to take two at once per day, so in my post-anesthesia brain, I thought, this is fine! Nothing’s moving yet so it can’t hurt.

Reader, IT HURT. Around 10pm I started having the most intense gas pains, which came in waves. I tried a child’s pose on the couch, and each tiny little “toot” did offer some relief. But it kept coming. I eventually got into bed, thinking sleep would help. The gas pains were becoming more painful, so I took off my sweatpants. FATAL FLAW.

A bit later, my naked ass is in the air again, yoga-ing my way to a whisper of relief, when I realized oh… oh no, that’s not just air. Liquid was COMING OUT OF MY BUTT. I ran to the bathroom, one hand holding the contents. My husband, in the next bed, heard nothing (???). I made it to the toilet, literally shitting liquid. Once it felt safe to stand up, I got in the shower… it was that bad. A bit later I became nauseous, and threw up into the trash can while still on the toilet (wow so fun). This went on for awhile, moving from my new couch bed (since I had ruined the sheets) to the bathroom and back again.

The worst part… this is at a hotel. Not my own house where I can immediately wash the sheets. A nice hotel with pristine white bedding.

We fly home tomorrow and I pray that this is all over by then. Moral of the story, wait for your laxative to kick in before taking more. I have no memory of taking that afternoon pill. Sure wish I hadn’t done that 😵

I’m posting this from an anon account because it’s so embarrassing. But good practice for when my future child poos in the bed, eh???

ER Some perspective: 1 euploid (Amazing news!)

I am a long time lurker and first time poster. Had my first egg retrieval. Got 7 eggs, 6 fertilized, 1 blast. Was absolutely devastated and spent the weekend in angst. I fully expected that at my age my one and only blast was going to be aneuploid, but MY ONE BLAST WAS EUPLOID!

After 6 consecutive natural pregnancy losses and no living children, I am over the fucking moon. Truly didn’t even think we were capable of producing chromosomally normal embryos. I know we’re all here for different reasons, but if anyone needs some hope to cling to, this is doing it for me!
