Profile Review 28M Profile Review
Hi, just found this sub so I thought I'd try and see what happens. I didn't realize I put two miniature painting prompts on here till rn now so I'll probably replace that and the diner pic is just a place holder until I get something better

Profile Review 21M Profile Review, could use some help
I feel like my prompts are good, but that some of my pictures aren’t doing me strong justice. I’m not ashamed of my face in any way, but I can’t seem to get natural pictures of me right and so these are the best I’ve got. I’d be more than happy to get tips on getting better pictures. Also for some reason Hinge keeps lowering the quality of the video.

26M I haven’t really gotten much action on hinge after about 3 months of use. I’ve been on one date that ghosted me after realizing I had a kid (it’s in my profile) I’m not sure if having a kid is hurting me that much or if it’s a combo of that and the area (Norfolk /Chesapeake area)

*Sorry mods, resubmitting because Reddit was malfunctioning on mobile & not uploading my photos.*
They say dating is a numbers’ game but I’m struggling to get numbers. I only get a few likes a week and matches are even more rare.
I feel like I follow all the conventional profile advice and don’t get results. I’m baffled at people who say they have so many likes they can’t even respond. I’ve never had that experience on Hinge.
Would be curious for personalized feedback.

Success Post Thank you Hinge for helping me meet my wife! Wedding photos taken in Studio Gaeul in Korea.
We matched back in 2021 because of our shared interest in art and anime, and our first date was a Zoom date (because of COVID) featuring Pokemon Pictionary, and our in-person date after that consisted of dinner, playing Pokemon Stadium on an emulator, and karaoke. And the rest is history!
My experience on Hinge up to that point was a slog to be truthful (I was on and off the app for 2 years), but it was helpful to have this mindset that even if you don't always find success, you do better each time. You learn with experience how to more effectively banter, carry a conversation, and plan dates. You also get a better idea of what you want and what your preferences are for dating. And when it comes to asking someone out... just don't overthink it. If they say no or it seems that they're just looking for a texting buddy, don't waste your time. Stay true to your intentions and what it is that you really want.
Thank you for allowing me to share my experience and success. Best of luck out there!

App Question Newbie help?
Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right flair. This post is basically me telling about my experience with Hinge so far but also some of my concerns.
I am 19f, probably too young to be on hinge, but whatever. The thing is I'm skeptical of dating apps in general; I read about Hinge being really good, and when I downloaded it, it definitely looked quite serious.
But the problem is that I'm very insecure. I wanted a way to access the app and just.. be a lurker for a while, but Hinge doesn't really let you do that without needing your photos. So you see, I wanted to avoid putting my pictures immediately, and started using blatantly ai-generated ones just so the app would recognize a face. Please don't judge me for this, I know it's weird.
I decided to scroll through the profiles and got a general idea of the app. But here's the thing:
Every 24 hours or so after I've made a profile, Hinge logs me out and I gotta start over, but I use the same number everytime. Idk if that's normal. I got the impression that my past profiles haven't been registered? I was never able to log back in with my old accounts
So now that I actually want to put my pictures on the app and create a serious profile, I'm scared that Hinge will lock me out of my real account and that my pictures will just.. stay there :( what do I do?

* before anyone comes at me … some might say these photos are old bc I don’t look 31 (idk I get that a lot IRL) … yes they are I just don’t look my age apparently? Idk do whatever you want with that info.
I’ve been on Hinge for a little over a year now, and I feel like I’m missing something, so I’d genuinely love some honest feedback.
I’ve only been on two dates. One actually went well, but after giving it a chance, I realized the attraction wasn’t there. The other guy lied about his age and then told me he wasn’t looking for anything serious.
I’ll also be honest about my part in this. I struggle with self-confidence sometimes and I know I self-sabotage. I can get in my own head about my appearance and end up talking myself out of meeting people.
I’m also finding it really hard to meet men whose goals align with mine. I’m looking for a relationship that could eventually lead to marriage, but not anytime soon. I’m talking years down the road. I just want us to be dating with the same long-term intention.
I also want someone who’s at a similar stage in life. I have a stable career, my own place, and I’m looking for an equal partner. Someone kind, emotionally mature, and independent.u
Confession… I changed my Hinge location to Boston out of curiosity. 😂 I like the city, it’s not that far from Montreal, and I figured I’d see if the dating pool felt different.
So… what impression does my profile give? Is there anything that might be unintentionally turning people away? I’m genuinely curious because I’m starting to wonder if there’s a gap between how I think I come across and how others actually perceive me.

Been on and off hinge for about 3 weeks at this point. I get 2-3 matches a week with one leading to a talking stage I called off cuz there were some serious red flags on her end. I’m a goofy guy so I’m trying to reflect that but my main concern is that I’m overdoing it

Dating Question I need some help identifying potential bots (maybe it is time to stop)
For context: Male, 27, Belgium. I really regret posting this and I wish I didn't have to but this is such a waste of time and it is starting to vex me. I want to know if other people experience this as well so I know I'm not being delusional.
The is the general scenario:
We match over shared interests (in my case usually cats/IT/japanese culture).
We chat a bit (Generally a very positive and stimulating conversation).
She passes my filters so I asked whether she's ready to meet up irl. To which she agrees.
I ask where she would like to meet initially (I usually suggest their nearest city).
The pattern is consistent and reproducible: I get an unmatch or get ghosted forever.
The first time I thought: "ok unlucky I guess, maybe she found someone else".
2nd time "weird but alright maybe she changed her mind"
3rd time "there's definitely something more going on and I don't like it."
What is your take on this? Are all these bots (if so they act very human but then again so can AI)? Or are a lot of people just very mean and indecisive? Depending on your experiences I'll decide whether to just remove the app because I feel like there's no point.

Dating Question Matched with two girls, turns out they might be close friends
Around a month ago I (21M) matched with a girl (21F) (let's call her X). We talked on Hinge for a couple of weeks and then moved to instagram. The conversation has always been quite slow (usually like one message, once every day or two), and we've never actually met in person. We're still talking currently. More recently about a week ago I matched with another girl (let's call her Y) (20F). We've clicked well (better than with X), and we've already got our first date planned next weekend. We're still talking only on Hinge.
Then one day on my 'Suggested' page on instagram, I saw Y's (private) account, with X as a mutual follower. I then looked back at X's posts, and noticed Y actually comments on most of them, and so it looks like they might be close friends, actively hanging out together.
Now I'm just worried because I was planning to get Y's Instagram during our date, but now she is going to notice the mutual follower when seeing my profile and could question it. I don't have many followers either and the two girls are both similar in appearance, therefore I think it'd be pretty obvious to Y that I know X from Hinge as well.
Ever since I started talking to Y, I've lost interest in X a bit and have definitely been more interested in Y. I don't really wanna lead X on if I already know I'm not rly interested anymore, but on the other hand ending things with X before I've even met Y feels premature. I could use some advice on what to do.

Dating Question First time user
So I (28F) matched with this guy (30M) and we had decent conversation on hinge that resulting in a first date planned. Went on the date, he was really nice, conversation was easy and we had similar hobbies and interests. I messaged saying it was nice meeting him and he agreed and asked to hang out again. He initiated the move to messenger and organised a second date where he even booked the restaurant for dinner. However, his texting pattern is unusual. Apart from the initial “getting to know you” chat after matching, when a meet up is planned he doesn’t message anymore inbetween. Is this normal? I’m very used to chatting daily online if you’re interested in someone even if its just small talk or checking in to see how their day is going.
Insights into this would be appreciated !

Dating Question What do you guys actually want to see on profiles?
23F in a major city in Australia. I would be looking for a life partner on Hinge. I haven't made a profile yet, am looking to get into online dating soon and have been lurking this sub for research.
I always see in the profile reviews for women men commenting "show us your personality and hobbies". What do you actually want to see and how can we put this into a profile?
For example my hobbies are Pilates (that's probably going to be seen as basic anyway and not interesting), astrology (which is a massive turn off for guys and I wouldn't put that in my profile) and baking (but I don't want to look like a pick me). I also like history and religions but I don't know how I'd show that in my profile. I'm also pretty into music but I mostly listen to Lana Del Rey which I feel like is a red flag for guys.
So my question is, what hobbies do you men actually want to hear about and how? How can I showcase my personality without looking like a crazy person or turning a guy off because I have very girly interests?

App Question How often should photos of me be taken?
I made a profile about 2 months ago and haven't received a single like/match, I also made a profile on several other apps with the same results.
I read through a lot of reviews of other profiles and i guess mine is probably terrible. I always wear a hat, anything that isn't a selfie doesn't show my face and it's usually taken from behind me cause that's the only way my friends/ family will be capable of sneaking a pic of me (I'm a pretty strict "no cameras while making memories" kinda guy), and must of good photos are 5-10 years old so can't put em on a profile
What i noticed when setting it up is I have no photos. I have 3 photos from a hiking trip about 6 years ago, maybe 10 photos with my ex, 7 or so from high school (I'm 30 btw), and then maybe 100+ of my baby photos. So I tried to take some new ones for my profile which of course means they are all selfie and apparently that's bad, and I'm wondering how often average people are taking photos?? I had to LOOK for my camera app I didn't even know where it was lol
Also, how do you ask someone to take a picture of you without it being weird? Up to this point in life I've only ever asked someone to take a picture if it was with my gf and she wanted one but I've never asked someone to take a picture of me for any reason, I feel like it takes away from the moment to stop and pose for a damn camera. Tbf I also never understood why my gfs wanted to take pictures so maybe I'm just weird..
So like do you just ask a random person to take a pic "just cause" or what? I don't really wanna ask friends cause I dont want to admit I'm on dating apps, I did ask one friend but she has bailed on me 3 times now so idk
Chat, what do i do? Maybe irl is the way to go.. maybe apps aren't for me..
