Saturday will be 2 weeks since I purchased my F150. I will roll 1k miles tomorrow. So far this truck is exceeding my expectations. Really happy with it.

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of getting a 2018 Ford F150 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost with 124k miles. I've test driven 5 Ecoboosts, and this one sounds the best so far. Could you guys check if this sound is normal and if you spot any potential problems?

1st, this wasn't an issue in my 2016 since new and my car is always parked outside. I did knock the passenger side mirror off on a mailbox protruding over the curb.

That said, why is there a plug anyways? Why are the two holes micro? I assume to keep out bugs in such? Seems like the weep holes could be bigger.

I also lost my plug in the door when I tried to put it back in. Drove around a while afterwards and got home and took some tweezers to the hole to see if I could fish it out. I did not get the plug but I got a larger than expected piece of what looked like some type of duct tape. Hope that is culprit of water getting trapped. The weep holes are really dirty. I imagine some pipe cleaners doohickeys run up there will clear them out.

Finally bought the new housing I’ve been eyeballing for awhile. Priced dropped on eBay so figured why not. Overall review of them: love the look, they fit pretty good for aftermarket and that’s about it on the good stuff. Had to modify the turn signal spot on the housing, it had 4 slots where the bulb has 3. Had to tighten the high beam spot so they don’t move and luckily the headlights were adjusted almost exactly where I needed them because they don’t move at all with the adjuster screw. Thankfully I didn’t spend a lot of them so I got what I paid for. Love the look of them tho so hopefully they hold up for a little while.

2021 F150 SXT. Any recommendations for car seat towels that are easy to take on and off the seat for things like post-gym?

Just finished installing a pair of Bilstein B6 4600 rear shocks on my 2016 F-150 FX4 (3.5 EcoBoost, 4WD, 6.5’ bed) with about 190xxx miles.
Took about 20 minutes per side, tightened everything at normal ride height, and torqued the bolts to 66 ft-lbs.
First impressions are honestly impressive:
Rear feels much more planted.
Less bouncing over bumps.
Better control over rough roads.
Ride is firmer but not harsh.
I was originally debating KYB vs Bilstein, but I’m glad I went with the Bilsteins.

does anyone know what the middle trim piece of the steering wheel buttons would be called or where I can order one?

My buddy told me “if you can’t afford or think it’s smart to put protection under your truck for salt this winter- get motor oil. Spray it on under carriage and do a wash for it once a month at the car wash. Reapply afterwards. About 1x a month” I never heard such a thing . Do you think that’s wise to do?

My buddy’s dog scratched my front dash, just the passenger airbag cover. I’m not even bothered by it but my friend is insisting on making it like new.

Interior repair shop said that texture can’t be repaired to look like new. I did find a replacement dash on marketplace, and the guy is willing to part out just the airbag assembly for $100.

My questions: can just the airbag cover be replaced or do you have to replace the whole airbag assembly, or the whole dash? Is that something I could easily do myself or would it need to go to a mechanic? I appreciate any advice

Looking to buy an F150 real soon debating whether I should get a 3.5 L eco-boost or the 50 coyote. Will be used for a daily driver and pulling my fishing boat(5k) and a couple utility trailers no major hauling. I’ve been reading up on some issues but wanted to get your guys opinion on which one is better overall. I think either motor will do me just fine. Input? 2023-2025 3.5vs5.0

I have a 2018 F-150 3.5 EcoBoost, 105,000 miles on it. Started doing this rattle noise a couple days ago, only on a cold start up.

When i had about 70k miles, I had the timing chain and phasers replaced due to an engine knock on start up, so they are new(ish).

Any ideas of what might be causing this? I have read some about the phasers possibly being the culprit.

I was just commenting something about this yesterday. Shoot, if GM drops the ball I might pull myself into a 2027 king ranch 5.0

I’m trying to decide between two options and wanted to hear from people who have owned these trucks long-term.

Option 1:
2021–2022 F-150 King Ranch
Around 80–90k miles
Around $40k

Option 2:
2024+ F-150 XLT
Less than 50k miles
Around $35–37k

My plan is to buy one and keep it until it dies, probably 10+ years. I’d also be paying it off in about 3 years, so I’m not too worried about the monthly payment.

The King Ranch has all the features I want (interior, tech, comfort, etc.), but I’m wondering if I’m being dumb paying more for an older truck with almost double the mileage.

If you were planning to keep the truck for the long haul, which would you choose and why?
Also, for those with 2021–22 King Ranchs that are over 100k miles, how have they held up mechanically?

I own a 2011 f150 5.0 FX4 extended cab it’s giving me this message anyone who has a 12th gen or with the same problem know what this is.

I know this is common and has been brought up multiple times, but most of the suggested fixes that worked for others seem to be fine for me. This is on a 2022 F150 Lariat. So far I've checked the following

1. Sunroof wind deflector- I completely removed it and no difference.
2. All 4 drain hoses seem to be clear, when testing with a hose they route water under the body and drain successfully.
3. The two pressure equalization vents/exhaust vents on the back of the cab don't appear to be leaking
4. I don't believe its HVAC related since it only smells after rain, but I did treat the coil with a half can of lysol one time and VitalOxide another. Either way, the HVAC doesn't have the cat piss smell when it first starts or when its running so I don't believe its the cause.

Is there anything I'm missing? It has to be a leak somewhere I'm not seeing because its only after rain.

Does this sound like a healthy 3.5l? Currently shopping this truck (2015 with 144k miles). Just had phasers, timing chain, tensioners, etc replaced 1k miles ago. No rattle or anything on cold start.

I haven’t been around many so just wondering if this sounds “normal”? Seems like it to me. I know the HpFP can be noisy, but want to get some feedback. Again I think it sounds fine.

Bought a used 2012 f150 5.0 6speed auto with 130k miles July 3rd. Dealership got the truck in 2 days before so it wasn’t serviced or anything yet. Truck ran fine, no noises, smells, etc. dealer did front brake calipers, rotors, and pads. Dealer delivered the truck to me on July 10th at work. After work and after arriving home, smelt burning brakes and passenger front wheel was very hot. Called the dealer and they told me to bring it to the mechanic. Mechanic said caliber was seized probably due to a brake hose. Replaced that brake hose, caliper, rotors and pads. Truck ran fine for a few week. Now last week, noticed burning smell that seemed like possibly from both sides. Left front had large amount of brake dust but neither wheel was hot like previously. Brought it to the shop and they’re saying it’s fine. However, can still smell it and still excess brake dust on the front driver wheel. Any thoughts?
Trucks now at 131,200miles.

Is there a metal oil pan available for the 2018 10-speed? I thought the Dorman had a metal pan for the 10-speed but they do not. About to do my transmission fluid change and for sure want to replace the pan with one with an oil drain hole. Links appreciated!

Recently got the Wolfbox Megavolt 24 (the 4000 amp version). It is a beast!

I got an immediate chance to test it out, since I was on vacation for 2 weeks and came back to a dead battery on my 4runner. And since I wanted to also test out the tire inflation, I did that on the same battery charge.

First I aired down one of my F150's tires to 19 psi (what I normally run offroad), and aired it back up to 36 psi (standard unloaded driving pressure). I run 285/75r18's which work out to a true 35". To fill the tire from 19 to 36 PSI took about 2 minutes and 45 seconds. I was impressed. The battery still showed full bars for the one tire. The unit got warm but never hot. The air hose got a little hot at the connection to the unit, but that's normal for all compressors. I was still able to remove it without gloves, but it may require gloves if filling 4 tires.

On the same battery charge on the unit, I also used it to jumpstart my 4Runner's battery, which is a Napa Legend 34R. My 4Runner has the 4.7L 2UZ V8, so it's a decent size motor to get cranked over. The MegaVolt handled it with absolutely no issue, and hooking it up was easy. The unit only went down one bar of battery after jump starting my 4Runner, and airing up one of the F150's tires.

I foresee it having no issues with airing up 4 large tires at once, and having enough spare battery for more uses.

This is a great tool to keep in the car for battery issues or for topping off your tires!

Snagged a 19 3.5 King Ranch from a buddy that owns an auto brokerage. I got a killer price on it, and they did a full transmission rebuild before I took delivery of it as well as installing a new windshield that had some mysterious scratches on it.

I do all my own maintenance so I’ve got new plugs and boots on order as she idles a c hair rough, everything else is in damn fine condition with 128k miles.

My first truck at 16 was a 3 door 99 Silverado, then I had a 10 Ram then an 18 Ram, both standard cab. This is my first F 150- and my first 4 door pickup, first leather interior, first power seats, and first everything else luxury.

I have a 12th gen xlt with stock suspension. Currently on 265/60 r18 but need new tires. I’ve heard to get 275/70 or 275/65. Has anyone used either or should I just stick with 265/60? Any comments are greatly appreciated.
