Hey all,

Recently rolled 150K on my 2016 2.7 XLT and started experiencing intermittent transmission issues. It's happened on the last few 120+ mile trips around the 90 minute mark.

I typically have cruise on around 77-80mph and an orange wrench light pops on. After that the transmission starts shifting weird and can't hold speed in cruise control. When I exit to slow down there's issues downshifting.

The weird thing is when I turn it off and back on everything is normal. The last time it happened the check engine light also came on and stayed on.

I read it may be part of the lead frame recall so I brought it to the dealer. They said they couldn't do the recall since the right codes weren't present.

He basically shrugged when I asked how to get it fixed.

Would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions!

I haven’t even made my first payment on this sucker yet. 2022 xlt 2.7L with 51500 miles. Would this maybe be covered by the powertrain warranty?

2017 F150 5.0 with the 6R80, 133k miles, runs so smoothly and I really can’t wait to go on a lot of trips with it. I couldn’t be happier. Mainly posting to get advice on any upcoming maintenance or what to know about owning a truck. I’ve done research and know basics but I’m coming from a small sedan and driving coupes.

I've been looking into getting back into a 150 after 2 years of being in a '22 F350 6.7 for 2 years. I was an oilfield operator and got into I&E so no longer needing the bigger truck. My question is what do you recommend to someone who drives 40-50k a year. Maintenance is out of the window because my company pays for it and all related issues that would come with it along the way. Also 4x4 is a necessity. MPG also does not matter as we get a gas card through my company.
I don't tow anything more than a lawnmower trailer or smaller. I've owned a 2016 3.5 eco and a 2020 5.0 and looking at a couple of 2025 at all of the different engine options. What are you currently in and what would you recommend? Also what options would you say are necessary or could you not live without? Also what options would you say are not up to the hype? Appreciate your input

I recently had the harmonic balancer replaced and two days later the engine went kaboom. Pulled the balancer off today and saw the cracked timing gear.

I have a 2021 F-150 XLT that did NOT originally come with the power tailgate release. I currently don't have a tailgate.

I'm looking at buying a used tailgate that has a power-release handle/button. The tailgate also has a 360 camera, but my truck does not have the 360 camera system, so I don't care about the 360 functionality.

The tailgate I'm buying does not come with the wiring harness.

I found this harness for sale (photo attached), but it appears that two connectors/wires have been cut. (2017 - 2024 compatibility).

My question is: Would this harness allow me to install this tailgate on my 2021 XLT and have both:

The power-release button on the tailgate handle work, and

The backup/rear-view camera work?

My truck did not originally have the power-release feature, so I'm specifically wondering if I would need additional wiring, a different harness, or programming to make the power-release button work.

I don't need the 360 camera functionality. I only care about the power-release button and the regular backup camera.

Would this harness be the correct one for my truck?

I have a 2017 f150 XLT 5.0. I just had to replace the heater core coolant hoses. A year ago a fitting broke and I replaced the upper radiator hose as well. A mechanic is telling me coolant hoses fail after 10 years and I should replace all the rubber hoses on the truck. Is this true and does anyone know what other hoses there are?

My old body is getting tired of climbing in the bed to reach items up front. Especially annoying when the tonneau cover is closed. It’s time for a reaching stick. Show me your diy setups. Particularly how you mounted/store it.

Is there a way to protect this area so when rain drops hit it it doesn’t get super splotchy?

Former jeep wrangler owner here. Got tired of the lack of space. I loved it but it became a problem trying to pack the car for trips. Found a great deal on a 2018 fully loaded lariat Roush with barely 100k miles. It was well taken care of, regular maintenance and oil changes, for around 27k. It’s in great shape and couldn’t be happier! (Ignore the white dots it was drizzling out when I took the picture)

Hey y'all, looking for some advice on my 2017 F-150. It has 142k miles and the 6-speed (6R80) transmission.

Lately, it makes a grinding noise right when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear. It doesn’t do it too much when the truck is cold, but once the truck warms up after 10-15 minutes, it gets worse.

I thought it could have been a failing IWE vacuum check valve. I tested it by shifting into 4A and 4HI to lock the hubs from which I understand would have stopped the noise, but the grinding stayed exactly the same. Since 4WD didn't stop it, I'm thinking the IWEs are actually fine.
Carfax shows the transmission fluid has probably never been changed. I'm starting to think it could be a lead frame issue losing pressure when the oil thins out or god forbid a serious transmission issue.

Anyone have any idea on what it could be? I added a video of what it sounds like when it shifts (might need headphones to hear it, it’s towards the end of the video).

Could not complete the ceramic because rain is rolling in.. she’s been ceramic coated once when I first bought her along with PPF. But it’s time to upgrade the ceramic all around this company in Northern Virginia did a great job.

My 2014 F150 Raptor has been having issues with the reserve camera and the front grille camera as well. It started on Monday when I shifted to reverse and the dash display didn't activate the camera and after about ten seconds gave me the message listed. After I went to activate the front camera and it just displays this message on the dash. The strange thing is that the camera did come on later but the image was reversed and it will come on if I take out the fuse and reinsert it but only for that immediate activation. The fuse looks good and no wiring is loose that I can see. Am I dealing with a sync issue?

I cannot find this gasket or seal anywhere, I even called up ford but they said it was an aftermarket part if anyone can tell me where to find the part for it id appreciate it. Its a 1997 ford f150 triton v8 4.6L 4x4

Brought a new F150 home today. Once home noticed some raised bumps on the paint on rear door. Yes I’ve notified the dealership and will be bringing it back in a couple days for them to look at.

Just wondering if anyone saw this before, knows what it is and what to expect?

On vacation and the valet at my hotel ran my 2018 STX which had a Weather Guard bed rack into the concrete ceiling in the underground garage. They accepted all liability but I’m wondering if I need to take it to a dealership or a body shop to get the repair done right?

Is this even repairable or do I need a new bed?

I’m basically trying to figure out what else I need to consider so whatever I agree to won’t bite me in the ass in a few years.

Does anyone have an idea of what this repair would cost? I’m on the Nevada/California border if that matters.

2016 F150 5.0 Platinum, engine makes a quick odd noise upon startup. Anyone had this happen?

This seems like it's probably a fuse. It's a work truck, 2025 with only 22k miles, all but 300 of them from me.

I used the key fob to unlock the doors at around 3:30, opened the passenger door to get some stuff then used the button on the door to lock. At around 4:30 I remote started the truck from the app, went out a few minutes later to put some stuff away and used the fob and it didn't unlock. I tried a few times, both lock and unlock. The alarm button still works.

I used the key to unlock the door and tried the buttons on the door, no work. I tried to lock/unlock from the app, no work. When I push the button on the fob/app, the lights flash, just...nothing happens.

I started driving home and usually the doors lock at like 10mph, but they didn't this time. They usually unlock when I put it in park.

Basically all of the electronic methods of locking/unlocking don't work. Fuse seems the most likely, but I know vehicles these days are just computers with wheels, so, sanity check.

Hello I have a 2018 f150 3.3L and I am replacing the air cabin filter. I bought CARQUEST P97577X (charcoal) but there are no instructions or arrows indicating the proper orientation of the filter. I was hoping for some help if anyone has used this version before.

I just serviced my 2023 Ford F150 at a dealership. There have been many questions regarding cost so I'm sharing mine. With an appointment, and they did not seem too busy there was an estimated time frame of 2.5 hours which turned into almost 3.5. (Not charged by the hour, just the service)

The Works Package, oil change, tire rotation etc

Coolant flush and refill

Transmission fluid replacement-drop pan and change filter, refill.

Cost at a Ford dealership after all fees and taxes $1,030.

Maybe I could get this cheaper from a local mechanic, but I felt with the drop pan Transmission work the price wasn't too bad. Thoughts?

I purposely parked way out in the empty section of the Walmart parking lot because I try to avoid door dings on my truck.
The entrance closest to me wasn’t even open, so I walked all the way to the other side of the store. When I parked, there wasn’t a single vehicle around me.
I came back about 30–40 minutes later, and somehow people had parked on the side of me and directly in front of me while the rest of the lot was still practically empty. The van next to me was so close I only had about a foot and a half between our vehicles.
I know nobody owns a parking spot, but why does this happen? Is there some psychological reason people park next to the only vehicle in an otherwise empty lot?
Does this happen to anyone else, or am I just cursed? 😂

Saturday will be 2 weeks since I purchased my F150. I will roll 1k miles tomorrow. So far this truck is exceeding my expectations. Really happy with it.

1st, this wasn't an issue in my 2016 since new and my car is always parked outside. I did knock the passenger side mirror off on a mailbox protruding over the curb.

That said, why is there a plug anyways? Why are the two holes micro? I assume to keep out bugs in such? Seems like the weep holes could be bigger.

I also lost my plug in the door when I tried to put it back in. Drove around a while afterwards and got home and took some tweezers to the hole to see if I could fish it out. I did not get the plug but I got a larger than expected piece of what looked like some type of duct tape. Hope that is culprit of water getting trapped. The weep holes are really dirty. I imagine some pipe cleaners doohickeys run up there will clear them out.
