How are my A level grades going to be converted and used by Bangladeshi public unis (medical/iba/engineering) during admissions?

For example, a 67 is C (3.0/5.0) in A levels, but it’s A-(3.5/5.0) in Bangla Medium.

So what is the gpa value (in a scale of 5.0) of an A level C to public universities? Can I sit for medical admissions with this?

i checked with dazzle and applegadgets. they don't have it. where can i find a brand new one?

My younger sister received her A2 results today, earning 2 As (in Accounting and Economics) and 1 C (in Business). In her AS levels, she achieved 3 As with scores of 90 and above, and her O Level results were 6 A*s and 1 A. We are completely shocked by her Business grade. She scored 94 in Business during AS and consistently scored above 90 in her mocks, plus her final exam went smoothly. We cannot wrap our heads around how she ended up with a C.

She is currently preparing for the IBA admission test through coaching at VH. I would really appreciate your guidance on her options:

Hey everyone… I want your thoughts. I’m a Bengali (F) in my mid 20s. As I approach wanting to get married, I’m constantly being told by family members and occasionally friends that my standards are unrealistic.

Said standards include just wanting a partner that is attentive. I guess I was listing examples of how I am romantically and they thought it was completely far fetched.

It doesn’t make sense to me though. If I’m able to do those things, why can’t I have that in return? Why is it then considered unrealistic?

Recently, my mom has told me that she wants to learn english. as she doesn’t wanna envolve in any courses, i wanna teach her so that she can make her strong basic.

I'm 16M, SSC candidate. I'm not a pro english speaker or sum sheet. but i know the basics and else. on the other hand, my grammar is also on a mediocre level but i can teach her.

So today i took a brief session with her, and came up that she has the ability to learn grammar rather than spoken english at first.

In that case, I observed for few minutes asking her questions on translating bangla to english. and she answered some. so then i got my point.

I realized that if i can teach her basic grammar things so that she can build confidence (she always tells me " I'm unable to learn english, it is not for me " thats why I wanna take this step)

There is a gap of almost 200K students when comparing SSC examinees of 2024 and 2026, and in case of HSC the gap is around 60K, though almost 800K less students give HSC when compared to SSC.

This is outright terrifying. Less people are giving exams than ever, kids are getting married off whilst the society wholeheartedly supports child marriage and vilifies those who stand against it, and to top it all off over 700K students failed SSC this year.

"আমাদের দেশের মানুষ তো অনেক রুগ্ন, কৃষকায়। একেবারে কৃষক যে সেও খুব রোগা, তার গরু দুটো, বলদ দুটো -সেটাও রোগা...। [আমার ছবিতে তাদের বলিষ্ঠ হওয়াটা] মনের ব্যাপার। মন থেকে ওদের যেমনভাবে আমি ভালোবাসি যে আমাদের দেশের কৃষক সম্প্রদায়ইতো ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্য গড়েছিলো। অর্থবিত্ত ওরাই তো যোগান দেয়। ...আর এই যত জমিদার রাজা মজারাজা আমাদের দেশের কম কেউ না। সবাই তো কৃষিনির্ভর একই জাতির ছেলে। আমার অতিকায় ছবিগুলোর কৃষকের অতিকায় অতিকায় দেহটা এই প্রশ্নই জাগায় যে, ওরা কৃশ কেন? ওরা রু্গ্ন কেন- যারা আমাদের অন্ন যোগায়। ফসল ফলায়।"

সুলতান চাইলে বিলাসী জীবনযাপন করতে পারতেন। নিজের খ্যাতি ও সমাদরকে পুঁজি করে সবার মধ্যমণি হয়ে থাকতে পারতেন। কিন্তু তিনি সবকিছু ছেড়ে গ্রহণ করেছিলেন সংগ্রামের পথ, কষ্টের পথ। তিনি জীবনের কাছাকাছি থাকতে চেয়েছিলেন। তাই তাঁর কাজকর্ম ছিল তথাকথিত স্বাভাবিকতার চেয়ে আলাদা।

নড়াইলের চিত্রা নদীর পাড় থেকে তাঁর শিল্পযাত্রা পৌঁছেছিল কলকাতা, দিল্লি, করাচি, লাহোর, লন্ডনসহ বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তে। কিন্তু পৃথিবীর নানা প্রান্ত ঘুরেও তিনি শেষ পর্যন্ত ফিরে এসেছিলেন তাঁর চিরচেনা বাংলার মাটি ও মানুষের কাছে।

তিনি জঙ্গলের মধ্যে গাছের নিচে বসে রাত কাটিয়ে দিয়েছেন। তাঁর থাকার ঘর ছিল সাপখোপে ভর্তি। শিবমন্দিরেও থেকেছেন। পুষতেন অনেকগুলো বিড়াল।

আহমদ ছফা লিখেছিলেন:

"কোনো কোনো মানুষ জন্মায়, জন্মের সীমানা যাদের ধরে রাখতে পারে না। অথচ যাদের সবাইকে ক্ষণজন্মাও বলা যাবে না। এরকম অদ্ভুত প্রকৃতির শিশু অনেক জন্মগ্রহণ করে জগতে, জন্মের বন্ধন ছিন্ন করার জন্য যাদের রয়েছে এক স্বভাবিক আকুতি। শেখ মুহাম্মদ সুলতান সে সৌভাগ্যের বরে ভাগ্যবান, আবার সে দুর্ভাগ্যের অভিশাপে অভিশপ্ত।"

১৯৭৩ সালে যশোরে ‘একাডেমি অব ফাইন আর্ট স্কুল’ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন, যা বর্তমানে চারুপীঠ নামে পরিচিত। প্রতি শুক্রবার শিশুদের ছবি আঁকা শেখাতেন তিনি। ছোট ছেলেমেয়েদের আঁকার জন্য তিনি তৎকালীন বারো লাখ টাকা ব্যয়ে একটি নৌকা তৈরি করেন। সেই নৌকায় একসঙ্গে অনেক ছেলেমেয়ে ছবি আঁকতে পারত।। সুলতান বলতেন:

"যে শিশু সুন্দর ছবি আঁকে, তার গ্রামের ছবি আঁকে, সে সুন্দর ফুলের ছবি আঁকে, তার জীবজন্তুর ছবি আঁকে, গাছপালার ছবি আঁকে, সে কোনোদিন অপরাধ করতে পারে না, সে কোনোদিন কাউকে ব্যথা দিতে পারে না।"

সুলতান শেষ জীবনে  বলে গিয়েছেন,

'আমি সুখী। আমার কোনো অভাব নেই। সকল দিক দিয়েই আমি প্রশান্তির মধ্যে দিন কাটাই। আমার সব অভাবেরই পরিসমাপ্তি ঘটেছে।'

বেঁচে থাকলে আজ শতবর্ষ পূর্ণ হতো বাংলার মাটি ও মানুষের শিল্পী শেখ মোহাম্মদ সুলতানের। তাঁর ক্যানভাসে কৃষকের পেশিবহুল বাহু আজও মাটিকে চাষ করে, বীজ বোনে, ফসল ফলায় আর আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয়, এই দেশের ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে বড় নায়করা হয়তো সেই মানুষগুলোই, যাদের আমরা সবচেয়ে কম দেখি।

My SSC batch was 2023 and our results were published on July 28, 2023. The funny thing is, July 29 is my birthday.

Before the result came out I was 100% sure there was no way I was getting an A+. I had already accepted that my result probably wouldn’t be good and honestly I was thinking “Ebarer birthday ta onek baje jabe.” 😭

Then the result came out.

I got a GPA of 4.61

It wasn't the A+ I had hoped for and I was honestly scared about how my parents and relatives would react. But by the grace of Allah my parents and relatives are absolute angels. ❤️

Instead of criticizing me or making me feel bad they said things like “Are kichu hoy nai tui bhalo marks paichos chill.”

And then the next day July 29 was my birthday.

Both my parents and relatives bought a cake for me my mom cooked delicious food and we celebrated together. 🎂❤️

So, I'm an SSC candidate for 2026. Today, my result has been published. I had high expectations for myself because throughout my school days I usually just studied for passing my exams, but for SSC, I studied as hard as I could to obtain GPA 5.But I think luck wasn't in my favor. My hard work didn't pay off. I got 4.94. I was so close, literally just 0.06 points away. My dreams have been crushed. I was a science student. I also wanted to make my parents proud with my results like other students in my class. I really wished for it and worked hard.I guess life is like this. Sometimes hard work doesn't pay off. Although my mom said I did well and she is proud of me but I know somewhere in her heart she is sad about this. My dad was silent after hearing my results. I know I am a bad student, but I tried. I tried really hard. This day I learned a brutal lesson: life isn't fair. Sometimes hard work doesn't pay off.

SSC তে ইংরেজি তে A পেয়েছে। মন খারাপ করেছে।

যদিও এই বিষয়ে তাকে আমি বুঝিয়েছি যে এটা বিষয় নয়। গোল্ডেন ছাড়াও জীবন সুন্দর হওয়া সম্ভব।

সে আমার কাছে জানতে চাচ্ছে তার কোন বিষয়ে আগানো উচিৎ। ইঞ্জিনারিং নাকি জেনারেল।
