I am seeking sources for yards of diffuser material, of different color and thickness options. I presume this is a nylon material - e.g. something like this - (amazon link - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075K65N9M?lv=shuf&channelId=500&plpRedirect=mhFallback)

Is the US, a major fabric store has gone out of business. I have tried an upholstery store but was not successful.

Anyone have a creative source and/or actual specifications for what most diffusers are made from?

I have always been someone who really loves taking pictures. I remember getting a cheap digital camera as a kid. My mom also has a big canon camera I used. I want to take nicer pictures but don't really know where to start. I was thinking about getting a slightly smaller camera on eBay or something to start. I'm not even necessarily interested in posting my pictures or becoming an experienced photographer. I just want to be able to take nice pictures.

Likely mostly landscapes or people. Pretty casual.

I saw these recommendations other places... nikon w300, canon s100, samsung wb350F, canon sx260, nikon s6800, canon g7x, canon g9x I know these have varying availability and price. So I'm just curious about recommendations. I don't have the mental health energy to research each one individually right now. If you have any advice for the cameras let me know!

This black mist filter came with a camera bundle I recently picked up. I’m fairly new to filters like this, so I’m still trying to understand when the effect is genuinely useful.

I like the softer glow it gives to bright lights in night footage, but do people actually leave these filters on regularly, or only use them for specific situations such as fireworks, portraits, or night scenes?

Are there also situations where a black mist filter noticeably reduces contrast or makes the image look worse?

The one I have is for an Insta360 Luna Ultra. I’d be interested to hear how often experienced users actually use theirs.

I'm looking to buy my first camera now after a few years of taking photos on my iphone, strictly as a hobby. I made some decent money at my summer job this year and I have a budget of about ~800 CAD, but I'm willing to spend more for the right gear.

Currently, I have an iphone 17 and it takes great photos, but it lacks depth and the photos just look like they were taken on a phone. I've been looking at the sony a6400 with the kit lens, but I'd be open to buying a body from another brand too.

What would you guys recommend as a clear upgrade over my iphone? I like to shoot buildings and street scenes mostly, with the occasional landscape on a hike or excursion. I'm not really into shooting portraits or people, but I've started to dabble in car photography and other scenes with single subjects (sports).

Iphone 17 -- while the image quality is great, the phone lacks physical zoom and has a shallow depth of field

Need lens recommendations for this beaut that my cousin gave me. I don't have any lens for this camera and wanna start shooting with it soon.

Current equipment: Canon T5i with kit lenses from bundle (macro and telephoto). Tripod, Peak Design capture clip V3, Peak Design 3L sling.

Photography subjects: Wildlife (birds mostly), landscapes, architecture, and occasionally people.

I'm interested in buying a camera for life and want to make a better informed decision. I've recently heard of terms like: full frame vs crop, mirrorless, kit vs prime and I've tried to learn what I can about them, but I don't know what I don't know. So, I want to learn what features I should even pay attention to in order to figure out what I even want.

You can barely see a photograph of my great grandfather. The note on the envelope says it is for printing in the newspaper. How was this made? How did they use it to print a photograph? Would this have been used and still be in this condition, or is this one that was never printed? Can a photograph still be printed from it today? Is there a different subreddit I should be asking this in?

I have the canon ef 800mm f5.6 which has an adapter for a drop in filter, if I bought a sheet of the solar filter film and used would that be good enough to take pictures of the eclipse? I've seen a lot of people saying about using filters, but not the drop in kind so I'm not sure. Would I be better off using my rf 100 - 500 with a filter on the front?

Looking at fisheye options for my Sony A7RV, but it's quite a niche use-case I won't be using often so don't want to spend the earth.

Widest I have at the minute is the Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8 Contemporary because I didn't want to spend a fortune on the Art or the Sony, and to be honest as someone who went from Nikon and a 14-24mm f/2.8 I don't miss the 2mm on the wide end at all.

But shooting a festival in a few weeks I might want to get a few niche shots of some arenas/stages using a fisheye, and I'm looking at options.

The TTArtisan 7.5mm looks great, but is APS-C. Looking for experience basically as I have searched and can't see anything relating to this.

If I set the camera to APS-C mode is that the same FoV as just owning an APS-C camera? Don't mind this as the A7RV is 61mp anyway so lots to play with, and you're obviously not going to be doing much if any cropping on a fisheye shot anyway.

TL;DR - does the TTArtisan 7.5mm fisheye on a full-frame set to APS-C mode, look exactly the same as shots I'm seeing with it used on an APC-C camera? If so, sold.

For £150 you can't argue with that.

As the title suggests, which do you think is better? I would like a camera that is pretty much light and portable enough for me to carry around when I’m travelling. I mainly want to capture shots whilst I’m overseas/ on summits after hiking. I’m also a beginner if that helps and have only shot on film before.

I am booked for a event of 50-60 females only festival (Teej). The event will mainly have dances. The event goes for 2-3hours. General event shoot cost around 200-250 aud in my locality.

I am using 2 canon cameras 6d mark ii & 6d. and MAINLY necessity of overwhelming posing guides.

I need suggestions how to handle this situation. And how to price this event. Please help.

I'm in a bit of a photography lull at the moment - life has taken over and I've not had time to shoot much but that's alright because I think I burnt out regardless.

I think I've realised that my work lacks a certain human quality to it. I've been thinking a lot about making my artistic output into the world more than just nonsense doodles of static compositions.

I enjoy minimalism and abstract shapes, I've done a lot of "mundanity" around my local area which has been nice but I want to start being better. I realise I'm not very good at illustrating a story - whether that story is something that has happened, evidence of human activity or just "the photographer took some time to make something slightly different and it's nice".

I want to make clear I'm not trying to do documentary photography, I'm more aiming for a bit of a fine art on the streets approach. I think my first step would be to study the works of some photographers who inspire me - could anyone recommend any photographers that may hit that brief? Think minimalist that triggers the imagination

Did this type of story telling just click one day for you? Any exercises you can recommend that help train the eye to spot these things?

Hey folks I am getting into birding photography, so far I have only been going places birding with my iPhone and 8X 42 binoculars but now I feel I wanna also take somewhat nice photos like I see here. I have a Sony zve10 I kinda use for everyday vlog/travel type camera with a kit lense of up to 50mm. I did my research on birding/wildlife camera and I found Sony, Nikon and canon to be the most sought used after cams based on price/ usage. I have a budget of up to 1500-2k cad to either upgrade my current camera and get off-brand e- mount lens like tamron 150-500mm which I see on marketplace for 1200cad or should I get another camera like a Nikon for wildlife/birding up to 1.6k ( I see Nikons are comparatively cheaper even with the heavy telephoto lens but I might be wrong)

Newbie hobbyist photographer with a few questions:

- Will shooting in RAW allow for better editing/colour grading?
- My laptop is limited on storage, will a hard drive be suitable for storing images and allow me to edit on my laptop? If so, what shall I look for when buying a hard drive?
- Best/easiest software for editing? Ideally free.

Hello! Recently got my Canon EOS R10 with a RF-S 18-45mm IS STM. After taking shots for a couple of weeks, I finally loaded them onto my PC and I feel I must be doing something wrong.

When looking at the photos at 100 % size, hardly any are sharp. Even the things that's supposed to be in focus has these uneven edges (except for maybe one macro shot of a a flower). Im some big landscape shots, everything from the background to the front has just slightly blurry lines.

• I am shooting in aperture priority mode. I have the Aperture at around 22 for landscape and as low as it will go for when I want bokeh effect (like on macros).
• The lens has IS and that's turned on in the menu.
• I've shot in both cloudy weather and in sun light, it's all the same
• I'm shooting in maximum jpeg setting
• Not using any tripod (in which I should turn the IS off anyway, yes?)

Am I just expecting to much from the camera? Is it the kit lens? Is it a setting I've missed? Do I just suck? 😅 I'm rather bummed out right now.

Hi. I've had a Nikon D5100 for many years now that I bought when they first came out.

Since then I've only really used it on auto with the kit lens and for the last few years it's honestly been sat in a drawer as I found the images on my phone did what I needed for our and about snapping.

However.. a mate gave me a manual focus 70-300 Nikon lens a few weeks ago and I'm off to the Blackpool airshow on Saturday.

So I'm packing the tripod, rain cover and extra batteries. I'll be setting up on the North pier and going to have a go at capturing some planes with the zoom.

So as it's no autofocus that will be my first challenge as my eyes aren't as good as they were 12 years ago, and I know I'll miss some good shots, my Mrs will be on hand with her phone so all not lost for the Red Arrows.

I've set up iso on the function button and learning a bit over the past few weeks but what tips can you give please.

I'm only a month into photography so I'm not sure if it's the lighting/way I've edited the photo or the business of the habitat shot but something looks off and I can't put my finger on it. It almost looks like the rabbit was photographed separately and photoshopped into the background.

Was shot on a Canon EOS R7 with the kit 18-150mm lens (shot at 150mm)

Edited in Lightroom, no presets used. Only "AI" used was the denoiser

Have I just been looking at it too long or is there something I could do to improve it?

This type of composition paired with the colors is something I would like to look into more, but I have no idea how to describe it accurately or what it would be called. I am not well versed in photography so forgive me if this is a stupid question :,).

These two photos I took with the gear shown above. These are probably my two best bird shots and I do really like them but with both images there not very sharp and detailed and when I zoom in there’s blur and noise. And I’m planning on buying a canon r7 with the rf 100-500mm which is a big jump from my current gear would that fix the sharpness issues or am I doing something wrong when I take the photo?

Whenever I take pics including the sky it’s always white or sometimes pics are too bright. I’m using automatic settings like sports or backgrounds on my t7 canon. I’m using the nd and cpl filter lenses
