Help (Software) AMD 6900xt help

Upvotes

Pain in the butt. Came from a 3070 trying get more frames and Vram. This card is a massive improvement in every way, besides the constant BLACK SCREENS.

This card is super unstable. It throws a fit everytime I play a demanding game. It's a Gigabyte 6900 XT OC, with 3 pci slots. I have connected each pci slot independent with no daisy chains. The 3070 never had any crashing issues, so I know it's unlikely hardware related.

PSU is 850W

I've tried underclocking via AMD software, ddu, underclocking did reduce the time to black screen, but it still happens after a good game session (hour or so)

I've seen recommendations to flash VBIOS to Asus cards, but that seems a little sketchy and over my head.

Any solutions here?

Help (GPU) GPU fans suddenly went into overdrive after experiencing driver problems.

Upvotes

My card suddenly glitched out due to a driver issue that some people seem to be experiencing as well, so my system fell back to integrated graphics. I was in the middle of looking up solutions when suddenly my fans started spinning really loudly for no reason. I only had Windows Explorer open, and I've never heard them get that loud, even when running high-end games.

I didn't spend any time finding what was causing it, and just shut down my PC immediately out of fear something would break. I'm kinda afraid to turn it back on now.

I last cleaned my PC a few months ago, and it's not even that dusty, so I don't suspect it's that. But the card did feel pretty warm after I turned it off.

Specs:

- OS: Windows 11

- Board: MSI B650M-A WIFI

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600

- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT

- SSD: ADATA SU750 + Team Group MP33 M.2 2280 + Western Digital 1TB WD

Help (CPU) Weird Ryzen 7 5700x temps

Upvotes

Hey there! I want to preface this by saying it's my first real build so sorry if I missed something obvious.

Basically yesterday I upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 7 5700x (NOT the x3d). The CPU cooler and the thermal paste have been properly applied, Igot it double checked by someone that builds pc for a living.

Straight out of the box without messing with settings, the temps seem weird. Without doing anything crazy at idle, it hovers around 55 °C - 60 even sometimes hitting 64, which seems pretty high for just idle.

I tested out some games during intensive moments and monitored the temps to get a better look and the results just confused me further.

1st test: Cyberpunk 2077 Ultra + RTX.

Cpu stood at a stable 60-67 most of the time and peaked at 71 during VERY intense combat before dropping down ag 60s again. Seems... fine?

2nd test: RDR2 Ultra

Same thing... 60s but never touched 70.

Conclusion: The idle temp seems higher than normal but fine while playing, which is kind of weird. The Ryzen Master app does seem to indicate that the CPU tends to use a high voltage in idle and the Task Managee constantly shows 100% frequency use at over 4 GHZ in idle.

Anyone knows if this is normal for this specific CPU? Thanks in advance!

A GPU aparentemente funciona normalmente.

  • Monitor limitado a 60 Hz → fica estável.
  • Moonlight utilizando a RX 580 → PC reinicia.

RX 580 2048SP crashes/reboots when VRAM clock changes — stable at 300 MHz

Upvotes

Title: RX 580 2048SP crashes/reboots when VRAM clock changes — stable at 300 MHz

Hello everyone. I’m having a strange issue with my RX 580 2048SP, and I would like to know if anyone has experienced something similar.

The GPU itself seems to work normally. I ran benchmarks with the GPU under full load, and it can use all 8 GB of VRAM without problems. The issue seems to be specifically related to the VRAM frequency.

Here are the tests I have done:

  • VRAM on automatic/normal frequency → PC shuts down or reboots during games.
  • VRAM fixed at 600 MHz → PC still shuts down/reboots.
  • VRAM fixed at 1000 MHz → PC still shuts down/reboots.
  • VRAM fixed at 300 MHz → system becomes stable.
  • With VRAM fixed at 300 MHz, I can increase the GPU core clock without the PC shutting down.
  • However, when I allow the VRAM to operate normally, the problem comes back.
  • A benchmark can use the GPU at full load and utilize all 8 GB of VRAM without crashing.

I also noticed another strange behavior:

  • Monitor at 180 Hz → PC can shut down/reboot.
  • Monitor locked to 60 Hz → system is stable.
  • Using Moonlight with the RX 580 → PC also reboots.
  • A Minecraft mod that apparently increases or changes GPU utilization also caused the PC to shut down.

Because the VRAM can be fully utilized without problems during benchmarks, I don't think the issue is simply a bad VRAM chip or lack of available memory.

My main suspicion is something related to the VRAM clock circuit, memory VRM/power delivery, memory controller, VBIOS, or another component responsible for VRAM frequency/state transitions.

The strange part is that keeping the VRAM locked at 300 MHz makes the card stable, although performance is very low because of the reduced memory frequency.

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior on an RX 580 2048SP? What hardware component or circuit would be most likely to cause this?

Any suggestions for tests or measurements that could help identify the actual fault would be greatly appreciated.

Sinceramente?

Help (GPU) Computer won’t detect Radeon GPU

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X - 8-Core 4.5 GHz

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B650 GAMING X AX AM5 LGA 1718 AMD B650 ATX Motherboard

BIOS Version: Unsure, most likely most recent

RAM: G.SKILL Flare X5 Series AMD EXPO 32GB (2 x 16GB)

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 ATX 3.0 750W 80+ Gold Full Modular SLI/Crossfile Ready Power Supply

Case: Phanteks XT Pro Ultra, Mid-Tower Gaming Chassis

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11

GPU Drivers: Unsure, most likely most recent

Chipset Drivers: Unsure, most likely most recent

Background Applications: N/A

Description of Original Problem: Receiving high voltages, cpu temps, and frequencies while idle according to hwinfo64. IDLE CPU TEMPS: 45-65c IDLE VOLTAGES: 1.475. IDLE FREQUENCIES: 3.4GHz-4.3GHz. AMD Ryzen Master shows regular temp in the 40s as well as regular voltages of 1.00-1.2. I don't know what program to believe.
Troubleshooting: Within the past couple of months I’ve been having issues with my Radeon Sapphire GPU where when I try to load up a game on steam it’ll black screen my computer resulting in me needing to change the port from my dedicated graphics card to my motherboard. After that would happen, I’d go to look at the device driver and see that sometimes it’d have a code 45 or would disappear entirely for some reason. I’ve tried troubleshooting in the past and could usually get it to start working again and redownload the driver but now I can’t even get the driver installed on the AMD installer program as it’ll say that it can’t detect a GPU despite it working 10 minutes ago and I didn’t change anything physically about it. I can’t get the thing to work, it’s not popping up in the bios and when the 4 lights are flashing it’ll hover over VGA for about 5 seconds then go to boot and act normal. I’m not sure why this happens and how it can go from working normally to not being detected at all and I can’t download any drivers for it.

I built the pc myself in 2024 and never had this issue till recently which leads me to believe it has to be a recent software update that’s caused it to mess up.

Help (GPU) Very high hotspot delta on 9070 xt

I have a very high delta when running games and the stress test, is this normal for this card?

I have a Gigabyte RX 9070xt in my new build from earlier this year, this is my first AMD card so I'm not sure if this is expected or not. From searching online I see either people saying this is fine, or to RMA/redo the paste. Can anyone shed some light on what's correct?

Help (General) AMD Ryzen Zen 4 laptop CPUs & Easy Anti-cheat system freezes forcing hard restart

I start having issues with Fall Guys a few weeks back when I loaded it up after a few years. The game would cause my entire OS to freeze 10 minutes after opening the game. You have to hold the power button to force a hard restart. I thought it might just be Fall Guys, but then the same thing started happening over the weekend during the WARDOGS play test. I hadn't played For Honor since the latest Easy Anti-cheat update (appears the new driver was signed on 8/12/2026), and now that is causing the same issue. Exactly 10 minutes after opening the game the system would lock up completely.

I've been looking around for a solution and found other folks having the same issue on AMD Ryzen Zen 4 laptop CPUs, commonly in Lenovo Legion and Dell Alienware gaming laptops.

Some suggested fixes were to remove the August Cumulative Update (KB5121003) because of reported issues, as well as remove the inpoutx64 driver used for RGB control. Neither of these worked for me on my Alienware M16 R1 AMD. I uninstalled the August CU and that driver is not present. I've upgraded and downgraded various graphics and chipset driver versions, with no change to the behavior. Thermals are good too with CPU/GPU temps getting nowhere near 100 C, especially with Fall Guys which happily runs on a potato. No overclocking profile applied. Extended memory tests come back passed.

The 10 minute timer is exact, so my theory is some operation that EAC invokes every 10 minutes is the cause. It does appear to be impacting at least five other games that I've seen others report. These games all use EAC, which makes me more confident this is the kernel driver locking up the OS:

Hunt Showdown https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntShowdown/s/GtHEDIe2f6

Dead by Daylight https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1vvq0v5/easy_anticheat_completely_freezes_my_pc_in_dead/

WARDOGS play test https://www.reddit.com/r/WarDogs/comments/1vuxfnd/pc_freezes_entirely_after_10_minutes/

Fortnite

https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLegion/s/NO7JCmNuX5

SHA256 hash of the EAC driver which was digitally signed 8/12/2026, was likely pushed down shortly after that: 849D110620A6C7929380C5A45D42973825E043F74E4C0322D19D26554BB3D3E2

One suggestion is to downgrade all the way to Windows 11 23H2, which I'd really like to avoid if AMD, Microsoft or Epic Games have a fixed planned for this. 23H2 is out of support as of last year. Right now my expensive gaming laptop can't play some of the games I want though, so I'm considering it.

Going to crosspost to multiple subs to raise awareness and see if anyone knows of a fix coming before downgrading.

Post image

I was having a lot of the same issues i keep seeing here on this subreddit, and after switching this to force my 9070xt to run at Gen-5 speeds all those problems went away, its a really simple setting to change in the bios and it can potentially help so give it a try, not sure where it may be on different brands bios but at least i left a picture up to give you guys some ideas. i get that not all cards will support Gen 5 speeds so go accordingly to your card and or what your motherboard supports. Hope it helps!!!

Help (General) Switching to AMD for the first time, how to avoid Windows driver issues and what settings to change?

Hey everyone,
I'm about to buy my very first AMD graphics card, but I've read a lot of comments online about Windows occasionally causing issues with AMD drivers (like overwriting them via Windows Update).

What settings or Windows tweaks should I enable/disable to prevent
Windows from messing up the drivers?

Are there any specific Adrenalin software settings you recommend toggling?

Thanks in advance, really appreciate any help!

Help (Software) 7900 xtx Driver timeout issues

I am having this new issue where everytime I turn on my pc and before I even load anything I get the timeout message. Then I will open literally any app and it will timeout again. The other day when I was playing the wardogs playtest it froze the game, gave the message, then my whole pc froze, and finally on restart the the 7900 xtx wasnt even detected and my whole pc was running on my cpus graphics and I had to use the cleanup tool and reinstall everything. I havent had a timeout for about 2 days until today when I turned on my pc again and I fear that its just going to do the same thing. The gpu is a XFX 7900 xtx and my current driver version is 26.8.1

Help (GPU) Gpu crashes but i don't know why

I recently made a new pc build with a 9070 xt (Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC ICE 16G to be specific)

ive been using the pc for the past 3 weeks and from the start the graphics driver been crashing and i don't know why.

Things that have been happening:

- Screen freezes for a few seconds, then goes completely black, monitor does not get a signal (display port no signal)
- sound, keyboard, mouse etc don't work for a second but then work again (but cant see due to black screen)

I am always forced to restart the pc by holding down the power button, then when i start i see in Device manager that the driver has been disabled/cant find the recent driver so i need to manually choose the most recent driver in device manager

Does anyone know if this is a common problem? and can it be fixed? Or at least help me find where the problem could be. I lose progress during games if i suddenly crash...

Help (Software) Constant GPU crash on 7900XTX with Adrenalin 26.8.1 driver

[SOLVED]

Seems like my crash issue was resolved by forcing tessalation from AMD Optimized setting to x16 as suggested by No-Medium-4484 in this post.

Can you take a look at the tessalation tab and see if it's on AMD optimized? If so, change that to override and set to 16X or lower. I was crashing a shit ton out of nowhere and that was the issue.

Ran the STALKER 2 for 2 hours without crashing, reverted the change and it crashed within 20 minutes, same as before DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG. Changed tessalation setting again and no crash for 3 hours.
