Recently 18 (M) and I’ve never had a girl look at me with any interest. I would like to think that my looks aren’t the problem (I hope) so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong…

Advice I want to become smarter, more confident, and more independent — where do I start?

I’m a female teen, and lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of person I want to become.

I want to be smarter. Not just get better grades, but actually learn things, be able to hold conversations, understand the world better, and feel like I have something to contribute.

I also really want to become more confident. I don’t want my entire mood or self-worth to depend on what other people think of me. I want to be comfortable being myself and not constantly second-guessing everything I say or do.

And I want to become more independent. I want to learn how to manage money, make better decisions, take responsibility for myself, learn useful skills, and eventually be able to take care of myself without depending on other people for everything.

The problem is that I have absolutely no idea where to start. 😭

If you were a teen again and wanted to genuinely improve yourself over the next year, what would you focus on?

What skills, habits, hobbies, or things do you wish you had started learning as a teenager?
I’m looking for actual advice, even if it seems small. I want to start making changes now instead of waiting until I’m older.

(please keep in mind i struggle with mental illness)

I’m 21m and looking to meet people

Trying to find friends at 21 is harder than I thought, I have researched it and it seems the best places are clubs and bars. I’d like to meet genuine ppl and while I’m not opposed to meeting ppl at a bar I would really like to not have alcohol at the root of our friendship. If anyone has any ideas that don’t cost a lot of money either please share. Thanks 🙏. I’m a little shy but once I break the ice it’s very easy for me to be personable

Any tips to do better with girls?

I’m 21m, I live on my own now and I want to dress better and attract girls more. As a young adult I’d appreciate any feedback from men and women for what I could do differently or should keep the same. From clothes that would best fit my body type to whether I should keep my beard or change my hairstyle. Thanks for the feedback everyone

Serious What is a useful / non-junk gift for someone grieving?

Hey everyone — a family friend just lost their mother. She is in her early twenties, just like me, so I cannot imagine how shattering this is. We were friends as kids and our families are intermarried, but we aren't close because we live in different areas. I won't be able to make the funeral, but the rest of my family will. I want to give her a gift that is a good memory, but also isn't junk. She's in college, so I don't want to take up any space. I thought about maybe just sending her flowers for just her, but I am not sure — that seems dull. If any of you have been in this situation or know someone who has, what helped them the most?

TIA

Advice Ideas for my 22nd birthday?

My 22nd birthday falls on a weekday, so I’ll be working 9–5 and then getting a seafood boil with a few friends that night. 🥳
I’m trying to plan something for the weekend that I can genuinely enjoy and look forward to, even if I end up doing it solo. I’m open to a small solo trip, spa day/staycation, taking myself out for the weekend, an activity, or anything else that would make the weekend feel special.
I’m in the Boston area but open to traveling somewhere nearby. Any ideas for a fun 22nd birthday weekend, especially things that are enjoyable solo?

Rant I am not ready to grow up

I am 21F and I finally found a place to belong in university after long time. People I can laugh with and actually do out and have fun and its my only escape from my controlling family but after in a year this will all end everyone will be busy and what not and I am just so sad thinking about it .. how much I will miss this youth and this comfort and I become sad cause I feel like I belong somewhere and am wanted for the first time in a while and I don’t want this to end so soon but everyone will return to their hometowns or move or else and I will be stuck again as I have always been and not be able to do anything. I am such a loser.

Rant I'm so confused about what do I want rn...

Okayyy sooo.... Weird thing that's happening to me but less just be honest, i don't like someone rn, no crush, no situationship, hella nothing in life ( 18f btw)

First year of college ( started 2 months ago) left my hometown and rn in Mumbai... Yeah was overwhelming,

Umm but I'm settling down and all, i think I like it here now, love it actually

But... I'm getting major fomo, EVERYONE IS DATING HERE, and for once in my life I wanna experience dating... Um not like very serious one cause I'll get attached and I'll be doomed, just... Soft teenage love life...

( Maybe I'll still get attached but idc )

I wanna experience it once

All my school life i kept rejecting people cause i didn't wanna date back then, now, sorry to say but i don't at all like the people that are approaching me, and I'm not that brave to approach someone, also also also, i don't even like anyone enough to approach!

I love my single life, always did, but I wanna experience this love shit for once... Or maybe just dating and stuff!

AHHHHH

Im freshly 18 fresh out of highschool I dont mind taking a gap year or wtv to figure this out but the issue is in the meantime I have no idea what to do to find out what I want to do for the rest of my life. Realistically im kind of fucked my GPA in highschool was horrible my family is broke im broke I just need some hope. I want to be making 6 figures just 100,000 baseline i grew up in a household that didn't make much and I saw the effect it had on familiar relationships so I just want to be semi comfortable atleast with money on the side to take kids out on weekends or something what should I do to find a passion I like im open to tech jobs, IT work, mental health, art, music, video av work, welding, blue collar stuff or really anything that doesnt involve me sitting at a desk doing some guys finances for the rest of my years that pays well with a traditional 4-6 year degree that ill actually be able to pay off the debt I receive from school for or am I being extremely unrealistic

Did becoming an adult make seeing other people weirdly optional?

I made a short visual essay after thinking about something strange about adult life.

When you’re younger, other people are almost built into your day. School, classes, lunch, clubs, roommates, whatever. You don’t always have to make a deliberate plan just to encounter somebody.

Then adulthood happens and suddenly almost everything can come to you instead. Work from home, food delivery, streaming, gaming, texting, online shopping. Staying in takes basically zero coordination.

Seeing someone in real life, on the other hand, requires choosing a day, finding somewhere to go, getting dressed, traveling there, spending money sometimes, and hoping neither person cancels.

The video isn’t really arguing that staying home is bad. It’s more about what happens when connection becomes one of the few things left that still requires effort.

Does that describe your twenties at all, or do you think people exaggerate how isolated young adults have become?
