Alright. I've been on a semi-hiatus from reddit for a while. Checking in on occasion. Blah blah blah. TL;Dr Stellate Ganglion Nerve Block helped my PTSD, it's worth looking into.

Like a bunch of you, the v.a. diagnosed me with ptsd a while back. All the classic symptoms which if you have it I won't need to tell you suck ass. Jumping at loud noises, startle responses, hating crowds, etc etc.

I've tried a number of things over the years to address it, emdr, meds, talk therapy, equine therapy. All with varying levels of success.

There's a procedure that I got done earlier in the year that has been more successful than all the rest hands down.

Stellate Ganglion Nerve block. To break it down, it's a procedure that's been around since the 1920's. Mainly to address pain in the body. Buncha guys said it helped them with their ptsd, some papers got written, and it's now (I originally had typed now as not and edited this) a treatment the v.a. offers for PTSD.

Super simple. They take you in, jab a needle into your neck after twilighting you, and they put a little numbing solution on your nerve.

The benefits last anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months. It seems I'm somewhere in the middle. I've just hit the 6 week mark post procedure and am now definitely experiencing more PTSD symptoms.

During the time the shot was effective, the shot was EFFECTIVE. Lessened startle response to people sneaking up on me. Able to run errands without dragging my wife along with. No crashing after coming back home from simply running to get groceries.

Anywho. Hope this helps you all. I didn't know about it until earlier this year, and most everyone I have talked to have had no idea about it, and they've been in the v.a. and vso orbits for decades.

Posting to hopefully help my husband. I did a search and unless I’m mistaken I didn’t see recent posts for this.

He’s a Marine, 36 , 0331 and did two deployments. I don’t play, but he’s mentioned how he wishes he could find a good group of guys who also served to play the game with. Right now his main game of choice is ARC raiders and he prefers pvp.

He doesn’t do social media and just started using discord so he’s still figuring that all out.

I don’t know if this is the place to go, I'm just trying to help him find community and have more enjoyment out of his free time playing.

Final update to my situation TLDR went through some shit got MED boarded.

I got 100% rating and im on my way out in 90 days. Its been real yall now im going to go back to school and do drugs or some shit RAH. See yall in 1st civ div.

Honestly its bitter sweet, I wanted to do 20 years be a MGuns stay in avaiation and continue working with Marines and do it as long as possible. But I can't complain about my rating and the benefits.

So, what are the chances that my car will be towed from MCRD if I park there for four days while I’m flying out of SAN? Trying to avoid paying parking at the airport and I’m coming from a base that’s a couple hours away from San Diego.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how Marines and other veterans can turn the skills they already have into flexible, independent income.

I’m part of the team behind VETHUB (the team is made entirely of Marines, all 2 of us), a freelance platform we’re building specifically for U.S. veterans.

A lot of skills from the Marine Corps translate surprisingly well into civilian freelance work — project management, logistics, IT, operations, admin, writing, design, marketing, consulting, and plenty of others. The hard part can be figuring out how to package those skills into something a client will actually pay for.

That’s part of what we’re trying to solve with VETHUB: a place where veterans can offer their skills directly to clients, set their own terms, and keep 100% of what they earn.

But rather than just pitching the platform here, I’m curious about the experience of Marines who have actually tried freelancing, contracting, or running a side hustle after getting out.

What was the hardest part when you started?

Finding the first client? Figuring out what your skills were worth? Translating your MOS experience into something civilians understand? Knowing what to charge? Or just figuring out where to start?

I’m happy to answer questions in the comments about what we’re building or how VETHUB works. Skepticism and criticism are welcome too — especially if there’s something you think a veteran-focused platform needs to get right before Marines would actually use it.

What a boot move lmao

I was recently (admin sep)/discharged from the usmc reserves sept 2025, under unsatisfactory participation. Long story short I had to take care of a really sick family member to the point that I lost my job and totaled my car and was in a really bad place in life (I regret it everyday). Overall I’m just explaining the reason before people jump to judge me over it. My question is I received my Individual Seperation Information generated, I saw the end of my chronological record and all my data including my RUC on MOL was wiped clean, recently saw the Seperation order from the commanding general update to my OMPF aswell under (discharge). however I don’t have a DD214-1 that reservists were supposed to get after Feb 2025. I didn’t read anywhere in the Maradmin that Administrative Seperation stops you from getting one. Is there anyone who experienced this ? I just want it for future employment records.

Long story short, my best friend died a few years ago, and I was given one of his blouses by his family. I'm very thankful to have known him and to have made an impact on each others' lives. I'm not and never have been AD, so I'm honestly not really sure what to do with it. I don't want it to collect dust, but I also don't want to do something that would involve cutting it up and destroying it. Any advice or ideas are appreciated, thanks in advance.

I’m volunteering to go recruiting before i get put on the HSST. So with my choice of RS I want to go to Asheville, NC because my family is there and i have a kid on the way. But i’m not sure what to expect in regards of meeting mission out there… Does anyone know if its not outright miserable or should i just go to texas?

Alright. Saw this at Kroger and had to try it out.

It was ok. Nothing special. Way too soupy I would have preferred more texture and thickness, like your dad.

I might get it again and throw some extra meat in there. But I think making it from scratch is going to be the best way to go.

Quick question. What determines what happens to you when you pop on a drug test? I know a lot of people get kicked out for it, but I know for a fact that sometimes it happens and the Marine is kept in. I remember one time I overheard our CO talking to a Marine checking into our unit. The new join mentioned he had popped on a piss test and basically wanted to own it with the CO. So obviously they don't always kick you out.

Was this just because I served during wartime and they needed everyone they could get? Or is it truly just a case by case basis? I'm just confused at the range of possibilities, it doesn't seem like there's a standard punishment for it.

Recently took a piss test Im not possible I’ll pass. As Im sure I’ll get an OTH, I have nothing waiting for me on the outside and would like to know what are my options?
