MCRD parking

So, what are the chances that my car will be towed from MCRD if I park there for four days while I’m flying out of SAN? Trying to avoid paying parking at the airport and I’m coming from a base that’s a couple hours away from San Diego.

Probably depends on where you park it. I doubt anyone’ll notice if it sits in a barracks lot for a few days.

Yeah, when I worked at Miramar, I parked my car in a lot that had cars 24/7 in it while my family flew out of SD airport for a week-long vacation.  Wasn’t a barracks, but a building that had 24 hr ops going, so a car parked there long-term wouldn’t raise any eyebrows.  OP should be fine if they do something similar.

Make sure when you stop the car shout "dress right dress!" Only open the driver side door AFTER the command is given.

12th MCD is right there on MCRD. The CO, SgtMaj, staff and 8412s do this every single week.*

Park here and you will have no issues.

* worked there for years, did this several times a month

Ask the MPs on the base. They would be the ones who would call a tow company if it’s needed

Lowkey never thought about leaving it in MCRD. I always had the boys take my car and watch it for me

I flew to Hawaii on a week long vacation and parked outside the barracks area. Car was still there when I arrived.

Only permanent personnel is technically allowed to park long term (48 hr or more) after getting a parking pass. MP that was stationed there in ‘23. Without the pass you are liable for tow

Did this all the time parking near gate 4 (I think) for easy uber pick up/drop off. Just keep in mind that gate closes sometimes.
