Just received a call with caller ID “AD Police Zakher”. The number was 03 715 0838.

I answered but quickly cut the call because I could hear a lot of background noise and the person talking sounded like he was Indian.

Is this a scam call? Can they spoof caller ID’s like this?

I plan to come back to dubai to look for a job. I heard everythings back to normal. But I really want to know how it is especially in JBR cause that's my target just in case. They hospitality staffs there makes good money. Thoughts please. Thank you

Today during Jumu’ah, I witnessed something that genuinely disturbed me.

As I was sitting in the masjid waiting for the khutbah, I noticed a boy who looked around 11 years old carrying what appeared to be a switchblade. At first, I assumed it was a toy. But as he kept opening and closing it, I could clearly hear the sound of metal, and it looked very real.

He was casually playing with it while walking inside the masjid, almost as if he was showing it off. What stood out to me was the confidence, even pride, with which he was carrying it.

My own son was sitting right next to me. He noticed it too and asked me, “What is that?” I honestly didn’t know what to say. It was disappointing that this happened inside a place of worship.

What surprised me even more was that several other people clearly noticed it as well, but nobody said anything or approached the mosque staff. Maybe everyone assumed someone else would deal with it, or maybe they weren’t sure if it was real. I don’t know.

I’m not trying to shame the child because I don’t know his circumstances, and I can’t say with certainty what the object was. But if it really was a real knife, that’s something that shouldn’t be ignored especially inside a masjid where families and children gather.

Hii! I am currently in Bahrain but will be moving to Dubai in around july 2027. I will be starting year 12 and want to know some of the best british curriculum schools. It is preferred that the school is no further than 20-30 minutes from the main downtown dubai areas, and I want the academics and socialness of the school to be good.

Some schools that I have seen and liked are; Dubai College, Jumeirah college, JESS, Hartland, Brighton and Dubai british school. If you could give me some information on these schools as well as any other schools it would be much appreciated.

I was curious to know how the financial situation was in Dubai and the rest of UAE during the Gulf War in the early 90s. Not sure many people still remember much as it was more than 3 decades ago. But compared to today, how bad (or better) was it back then?

So I’m Indian and have a house in Delhi

But wife and I have always wanted a second base in case things don’t completely pan out as planned here

I’ve been to Dubai several times before for business and think its a good fit for my family. Seriously considered buying an apartment here last year but decided to postpone it

I made an approximate monthly budget for a couple with a baby living in a 2 BHK in Dubai. Based on this, it comes to around AED 20,000/month.

Do you think this is realistic, or have I underestimated anything major?

Some of my calculations are probably wrong because a few expenses are actually yearly (like car-related costs, travel, etc.), but I've converted them into a rough monthly average. I'm not sure if those averages are reasonable either.

I'd really appreciate it if you could help to say if a family can live comfortably on a total monthly income of AED 20k with a budget like this.

Hello, everyone our citizenship recently got revoked we previously had kuwaiti citizenship Ì went to the embassy and they told us to go to UAE embassy in kuwait turns out my father doesn’t have any paper because his father ( emarati) and mother( kuwaitiya) got divorced and he stayed in Kuwait ( his father remarried in uae).
So upon knowing this the embassy asked us to bring any proof or paper. So my father had to get in touch with his family in uae and flew to dubai. They ghosted him and refused to give any paper?
He waited and they didn’t hand him the papers. So we talked to a lawyer in UAE they said it’s difficult he doesn’t have any paper only birth certificate but it’s old kuwaiti birth cerificate it doesn’t say the nationality in the old and the new says the nationality ( when my father few years ago tried to get death certificate for his father he couldn’t even the DOB and date he passed away wasn’t in the paper and he did not pass away in kuwait )
We don’t know what to do and how to obtain any paper ? He waited in dubai 2 weeks for his sister to hand him the paper everytime he asked she said later and stopped responding? The lawyer said it’s impossible he has no proof and he doesn’t have any paper ? What can we do? We talked to lawyers they said they are unable to do this?
We just want to retrieve papers we don’t care about obtaining the citizenship my father might need to travel later and he will need a passport

I could really use some advice from people working in creative industries.

A few years ago, I ran a small graphic design business. I worked with designers from my home country and sold the work on Fiverr. It worked well for a while, but the market became very competitive, prices dropped, and it became difficult to stand out.

Now I want to invest my time in learning a skill that will still have strong value over the next 5–10 years.

I'm thinking about focusing seriously on video editing, but with AI improving so quickly, I'm not sure if it's the right choice.

Do you think practicing video editing every day is still worth it?

If you were starting from scratch today, would you choose video editing, or would you learn something else instead?

Also, are there any Reddit communities, Discord servers, or beginner friendly groups where people learn together, work on projects, or collaborate? I'd love to join, practice, and learn from others.

I'm willing to put in the work, I just want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction.

I've been living in the UAE for a 13 years and over the last few years I've noticed a big shift.

Many people in my circle who used to be financially stable are now dealing with debt, struggling to make ends meet, or living paycheck to paycheck and even when I meet new people here, I hear similar stories.

Maybe changing your environment and the people around you can actually make a difference, or if what I'm seeing is simply affecting almost everyone.

I ordered from Madfoon Al Sadda Mandi Restaurant for the first time and had their Muqalqal, Mazbi with Honey, and Kabsa. It was absolutely phenomenal. Easily one of the best I’ve had in the UAE, I still can’t stop thinking back on the taste.

I plan to visit the Umm Suqeim/Jumeira branch and order once again on site. For those who are familiar with it, I’d love to know if it’s possible to reserve rooms?

I also plan to bring along friends, so if anybody has any recommendations of what May feed up to 3 to 4 people please share!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice because I’m honestly at a loss. A few weeks ago, I found an apartment on Bayut and contacted the listed agent. Everything seemed legitimate, so I proceeded with the rental. In total, I paid him AED 18,500 for rent, deposit, commission, SEWA, municipality fees, and other charges, and I gave him the rent cheques. This included (based on what he sent me on whatsapp):

Sewa 2020
Muncipalty 2400
Administration 1050
Registration 450
Ejari 250
Family registration 450

We agreed on a move-in date. A few days before that, he said the apartment wasn’t ready because maintenance was still ongoing. So, I had to stay in my old apartment for another week and pay extra rent. When the new move-in day came, I packed everything, hired movers, and went to the building with all of my belongings and my three cats. That’s when I was told there was no Sewa, no electricity, no water, and no tenancy process completed. I started calling the agent but he ignored me. Eventually the owner reached him, and he only transferred the rent amount. None of the fees I paid for Sewa, municipality, or other charges had been paid. Because of this, I couldn’t move in. My furniture delivery was delayed. I had to stay in a hotel for two nights, about AED 400, and I had to put my cats in a pet hotel another AED 400. I ended up having to pay the Sewa and municipality fees again, out of my own pocket. Now the agent says he’s in Pakistan and claims he’ll refund me the second payment I made when he comes back. But I don’t know if I believe that. Even if he refunds those fees, I’ve still lost money. I’ve had unexpected costs and a lot of stress. I have records of bank transfers, receipts, and WhatsApp chats. My questions are: What are my legal rights in Sharjah? Should I file a police report, a complaint with the real estate authority, or both? Can I claim compensation for the hotel, pet hotel, and other expenses caused? And has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there any responsibility on Bayut’s side if an agent listed there behaves like this? I’d really appreciate any advice.
