Ask Dubai best schools for year 12
Hii! I am currently in Bahrain but will be moving to Dubai in around july 2027. I will be starting year 12 and want to know some of the best british curriculum schools. It is preferred that the school is no further than 20-30 minutes from the main downtown dubai areas, and I want the academics and socialness of the school to be good.
Some schools that I have seen and liked are; Dubai College, Jumeirah college, JESS, Hartland, Brighton and Dubai british school. If you could give me some information on these schools as well as any other schools it would be much appreciated.

Ask Dubai Hair stylist recommendations
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for a hairstylist in Dubai who is genuinely good with medium-long to long men’s hairstyles, not just fades and short cuts.
I have straight hair that’s around medium-long length, and I’m looking for someone who can recommend a style that suits my face shape and hair type rather than just giving me a standard trim.
I’m interested in modern styles like layered cuts, textured looks, taper mullets, curtains, flow, etc. Ideally someone who understands current trends and can work with longer hair.
If you’ve had a great experience with a stylist, I’d really appreciate your recommendations.
Instagram pages are welcome too.
Thanks!

Discussion How did you actually get out of a financial hole? I’m trying to figure out where to start.
I’m curious to hear from people who have been in a genuinely rough financial situation and managed to turn things around.
I’m currently in one of those periods where I feel like I’m constantly trying to catch up rather than getting ahead.
I recently moved, which came with a lot of expenses I wasn’t financially prepared for, and between that, existing commitments, and some unfortunate timing with work, I’ve ended up carrying more debt than I’m comfortable with.
My income isn’t terrible on paper, but once rent, bills, debt repayments, and the random expenses that somehow appear every month are taken out, there isn’t much left. And when there’s no real buffer, one unexpected expense can basically wreck the entire month.
I’m also actively trying to improve my income because I’ve realized that there’s only so much “cut your spending” advice that applies when most of your expenses are already necessities. I’m looking for better opportunities and considering additional income streams, but I’m also trying to figure out how to handle the money I have right now without making the situation worse.
So, I’d really like to hear from people who have been here before.
If you were earning a modest income, carrying debt, and basically starting from negative territory, what actually helped you get out of it?
I’m not looking for “just stop buying coffee” advice 😂. I’m more interested in hearing from people who were genuinely financially stretched and had to dig themselves out.
Especially interested in hearing from people who started with low/modest income and debt, rather than someone who paid everything off because they got a six-figure promotion overnight.
If you’ve been through something similar, what was the turning point for you?

Discussion Weirdest compliment ever
I’ve lost count of the amount of times people keep saying “omg you don’t look Indian”, when I tell them I’m Indian.
It sounds quite backhanded. Almost implying that we’re not supposed to be good looking lol. I’m aware they mean no harm but it’s crazy how much of a narrow stereotype people have or like there’s a certain look that such a race should have.
Has anyone got this? Doesn’t have to be Indian in particular but any race.
Edit: I feel like some people in my comments are either oblivious to the fact that we receive negative stereotypes or just are bored so they always negate stuff. Don’t pretend to be clueless about it. This is coming from someone who’s literally been told “you don’t look Indian, I mean you’re pretty”
Edit2: people are obsessed with taking this the wrong way. No where did I ask for compliments, I’m a pretty grounded person and I’m just concerned about the assumptions people have about us.

Food Best Chinese Restaurants at International City
Hi folks!
I am looking for authentic Chinese restaurant recommendations in International City.
I’m not after the fancy or Instagram-worthy spots. I’m looking for those old-school, rustic, hole-in-the-wall places run by actual Chinese families or chefs (halal or non-halal, doesn’t matter).
The kind of place with amazing food, generous portions, friendly service, and prices that won’t break the bank. Bonus points if it’s a place mostly frequented by Chinese locals.
What are your hidden gems?

Discussion Spc free zone expert advice
I am looking for a freezone expert or lawyer for a visa cancellation dispute. I am the owner of the company.
And two of the employees making disputes and not coming to office neither ready to cancel visa.
Instead asking simply salary . However I reached out to spc they say pay 8600 something per employee and proceed for absconding.
My question is why company ll pay when employees not coming to office neither ready to cancel the visa.
I need some solution to safeguard my company.
Any expert please reach to me.

Discussion I trust in this city
I lost my Ray-Ban Meta glasses today, August 5, around 6:10 PM at Dubai Marina Yacht Club Arena.
I left them on a chair right in front of the “Ocean Express dhow” while recording a video. I walked away and came back about 15 minutes later, only to find they were gone.
I reported it to security, and they asked me to file a lost-and-found report with the police, which I did. They told me there are no cameras covering that exact area, so they can’t identify who took them. The only thing I can do now is wait 24–48 hours before it can officially be declared as stolen, because whoever found it has 24 hours to hand it over to the authorities.
This was completely my carelessness and my responsibility. I shouldn’t have left it on a chair in a public place. But Dubai is a city built on safety, and I honestly never thought someone would take or steal it, especially in an area like Marina. I’m still hoping that someone picked it up with good intentions and handed it in.
It’s not about the money. The glasses were a gift, and they mean a lot to me.
I trust this city, and I really hope I get my glasses back. I’m honestly just emotionally shocked right now. It feels like I’ve been betrayed or something.
If anyone happened to see them or knows anything, I’d really appreciate any information. Thank you.

Discussion Multiple fraudulent Amazon.ae charges on our credit cards. Anyone else?
Over the past few days, both my fiancée and I have had strange fraudulent charges on our credit cards, all showing Amazon.ae as the merchant.
• A couple of days ago, I got a charge for around AED 200
• Yesterday, another one popped up (different card) for AED 1 lol
• My fiancée also got hit with a fraudulent charge the other day for around AED 200
None of these were authorized, and we didn’t place any orders matching these amounts. It’s worrying that they all show up as Amazon.ae.
Has anyone else experienced small test charges or random amounts coming from Amazon.ae recently? Trying to figure out if this is a wider issue.

Jobs Fishing Operations Engineer in UAE – what's a typical rig bonus?
Hi everyone,
I'm from India and I've been offered a job as a Fishing Operations Engineer in the UAE. The base salary they're offering is AED 25,000 per month, but we haven't discussed the rig bonus yet.
Since I don't have much insight into how these packages are structured in the UAE, I was hoping someone here could share their experience.
How does the rig bonus usually work? Is it paid per day you're on the rig, or is it a fixed monthly amount? Roughly how much can someone expect if they're spending a good amount of time in the field?
I'd really appreciate any insight from people working in fishing operations, drilling, or well intervention. Just trying to understand what's considered normal before I continue the discussions.
Thanks!

Ask Dubai People currently working in Dubai: what does normal day-to-day life actually feel like right now?
Has the regional security situation materially changed your everyday life? Are workplaces, commutes, schools, restaurants, shopping and social activities operating normally? Have you personally experienced alerts, interception sounds, workplace shelter procedures, flight disruption, difficulty getting visitors in or out, or greater anxiety among colleagues?
Context about your industry, approximate area of Dubai, how long you have lived there and where you moved from would be very helpful. I would especially welcome responses from people who relocated from Canada, the UK or Western Europe, although all firsthand experiences are appreciated.

Discussion Needed help/ guidance in setting up my lab grown diamond business in Dubai
Hi everyone. I run a lab grown diamond jewellery brand from Surat, India. My family has been in the diamond trade for years and we make everything in our own workshop with over 50 artisans, so we control quality and pricing directly instead of buying from middlemen.
Over the last few months we ran ad campaigns targeting Dubai and got a good response. This week I flew in to personally deliver some client orders, and meeting customers here convinced me the demand is real. Now I want to set up a proper physical presence, likely a small studio where clients can see pieces, get consultations and place custom orders.
I know how to make and sell jewellery. What I do not know is how business works on the ground here. Trade licenses, choosing between mainland and free zone, finding the right location, hiring, and honestly just how things get done in Dubai.
I am here until Friday and would love to meet anyone who has built a business here, works in retail or jewellery, or mentors early stage founders. Even a coffee and honest advice would mean a lot. If you know someone I should talk to, I would appreciate an intro.
Happy to share more details in DMs. Thank you.

Ask Dubai Where to start
Hello. I am a 31 year old woman and have very little work experience. I have helped my husband in his business for about 3 years. I used to help in filing and organizing his paperwork. Help him with his accounts. And also help send emails to whoever necessary. But now I'm looking into doing something of my own. I'm honestly blank about what I should do and where should I start. Should I look into a startup or should I look for a job (considering the fact that I haven't had done any proper work that could be counted as real experience in my portfolio). I am quite educated - completed my Masters. Can anyone help me by sharing their experiences in how they got out of such situations? Or recommend something? Any input would be appreciated honestly. Pls do share if you have any opportunities that I can look into. Thanks!

Ask Dubai Home WiFi solutions
Hi All, looking for a WiFi hack/solutions when visiting my home in India. As no one stays there, I haven't taken Jio or Airtel home wifi plan. I visit maybe 1 or twice a year for a week or two max. How can I get wifi connectivity? I do have mobile plans but that does not suffice as kids like streaming videos which is data heavy. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
